Same! While the actual engine still runs great at 140K miles, we’re starting to see some other issues. The paint is peeling and sometimes one of the sliding doors won’t close. Are you seeing anything similar?
Prius. It’s just me and my husband, so when we fold down the back seats, we can fit 4 large suitcases and whatever else we need. We spent a month on the road in April.
2004 Lexus LX470. Bought it February of 2022 in Kentucky and drove it 1,300 miles home to Colorado. Later that summer took it on a 4,000+ mile road trip to a friend’s wedding back in Georgia, then down to see family in Florida. Have put almost 40k miles on it in just the last two years since purchasing. Just rolled 228,000 and going strong.
It does make me miss the diesel six-speed VW Sportwagen I owned before the LX. Thing had a 13-gallon tank but could squeeze out almost 600 miles on the highway before refueling.
I've got a GX. I thought about getting the LX, but the maintenance on them seemed more expensive. I really love that tail gate. I took my GX to see the eclipse last month, but didn't do much off roading except on my way back through NM when I went to see ship rock.
Love me a GX. The LX has been awesome. Honestly, the maintenance hasn’t been terrible. The two previous owners took great care of it and the most recent one took care of a couple big-ticket items like timing belt and replacing the AHC globes. I can do oil and most fluid changes myself to save some money here and there easily enough. It’s my daily and still stock — aside from 33” all-terrain tires — but has wheeled on a few of the mountain passes around here with no issues.
2019 Lincoln Continental. My longest road trip in it was 20,457 miles: Florida to Alaska, Alaska to Newfoundland, Newfoundland to Florida, with copious detours and stops along the way.
Bought a CX5 two years ago, 45k miles and I think fifteen national parks later and I couldn't be much happier with it. My last car was a prius and while the gas mileage was fantastic, this feels like a significant upgrade.
I bought mine largely based on how much I liked the CX30 I rented for a camping trip when living car free, but knew I needed more space because I had it PACKED.
Yeah, my wife had a bag between her legs in the passenger seat that trip.
But the CX5 with a rooftop shell and hitch bike rack? I feel like I can carry ALL the things!
It's treating me well! Loaded to the hilt in this Pic on my 4600 mile move across country. Brought me everywhere I wanted to go! 200 of those miles were dirt roads😆
Well, I'm jealous of your vented seats and mpg's! The other trims weren't on my radar how ever, was a tough choice between this and a TRD pro Tacoma but I let my inner adult decide, thankfully, would of regretted the taco fs!

2021 Crosstrek Sport, we absolutely love it!
2018 Elantra. Would have loved something else but when I was in the market for a used car, this was the most cost effective and great fuel economy. I get 45 on highways and it’s not even a hybrid so I guess it’s worth it
https://preview.redd.it/u81o6s7exc3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9570464eba0b1e747866bf045a0d18a51eb60020
Same almost! I have a 2017 sedan. Great mileage, super roomy for tall people, no major issues just standard care, and has all the extras I need. Almost at 200,000 and going strong....crossies
Previously a 2014 rogue. 28 mpg and enough room for 2 people to go on a camping trip. Now its a 24 pilot because our family is now 3 with plans to expand. Looking foward to using the adaptive cruise control on longer trips. Plan on taking it on its first road trip this summer around 2500 miles.
Also a Crosstrek for me. Have a 2019 and have driven it cross country 5 times since getting it, in addition to numerous other shorter road trips and in Mexico. It’s been great. The minimal issues it’s had have not been related to our long trips and it’s a fun comfortable ride every time.

Used to be a 2016 B9 A4 Avant 3.0TDI. Best compromise of efficiency, luxury, practicality, and fun. Drove all the way up to the northern most point of Europe and down to Italy. Only thing happening over 194 000km was that one morning I was out of coolant. Just filled up and continued for a couple of thousand km before getting the fix.
Right now it's a 2021 B9.5 Audi S4 Avant. Essentially the same car but better(-the mmi wheel). Haven't done any road trips as long yet.
Depends on the trip. Near the beaten path? Rivian R1S. Deep into the wilderness? Toyota Land Cruiser.

Top trim level Touring XT Outback. The car did Boston to the Vail valley for a month at Christmas with Nokian studless snow tires. It went to Bar Harbor last summer. It’s been to Logan Airport probably a dozen times. I usually fly places.
My 2019 Acura MDX. It is so quiet, has a great sound system, the seats are comfortable, and the AWD has handled two snow storms with ease when I was driving between Arkansas and Montana in April. I already have close to 70k miles on it and have had zero issues.
https://preview.redd.it/s3hgapxz4d3d1.jpeg?width=3123&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b87741b6f5978f090e351894b11a4ee3caae1598
2013 Chevy Spark. I do it on the cheap lol
Honda Odyssey.
Super comfortable for 5 plus luggage/gear.
Once at destination and emptied of gear, we're often putting 7 people in it. It's decent enough for that for short local rides.
2023 Tesla Model 3 standard range! Longest road trip I've done with it so far is 1,730 km (Toronto to Halifax)

2022 Model 3 Performance (55k miles)
We’ve gone cross country (NY to Oregon) and round trip to Vegas from Oregon. Best road trip car! Camp mode and autopilot are lifesavers.
‘19 Ram 2500 Laramie. It’s comfy and good on fuel when you let her eat. Washboard roads are a bit miserable, but I’m pretty lightly loaded on dirt roads as of late.
I also rock the same year and model. Have you considered swapping out the stock fogs for something like the Diode Dynamics SS3 Pros? I swapped them out before a trip in December and, *holy crap*, the difference in what I can see is amazing. I barely even use the high beams anymore. I found it incredibly helpful for seeing cattle/deer/whatever on the sides of roads because of the increased light at 45 degree offset from directly forward.
2019 subaru outback. Already covered 3,500 miles. Will be stopping home in a few days then leaving on our annual roadtrip mid July and be back in September-ish.
I've road tripped several Subarus, 98 Forster, 03 outback, 11 Forester, 15 forester, 19 Ascent. BUT, my best road trip was in my 11 Duramax(4k roadtrip miles driven) and then return trip with my 1975 Dodge D100 (2k roadtrip miles driven). I would GLADLY jump in in my '75vand drive it anywhere in the country if someone would let me.
Haven't road tripped for a while but will be cross country to move within the next 9-12 months. But before when we lived in Texas we went all over Texas, to Florida, to California and Las Vegas multiple times. Most troops were in a 99 Tahoe. It was the most comfortable vehicle ever. Drove fantastic, could pack anything we wanted, just a great SUV. Will be buying a different vehicle before we move, looking at something between the size of an Explorer (had one previous and road tripped in it also) to a Tahoe. Currently have a Kia Optima that we drove between Vegas and OC monthly for 4 years.
Just completed ¾ of a Boise to Bar Harbor road trip in an Audi Q8 etron EV, just to prove it could be done with minimal fuss. Free charging at Electrify America helped. Wyoming and South Dakota were a little challenging, and Fargo to Billings, the most challenging route due to lack of charging infrastructure, is tomorrow. 🤞🏼
Previous road trippers:
2008 Outback -- Sold in 2018 with 140,000 miles on it
2018 Outback -- Going strong with 125,000 miles on it
Current road tripper:
2023 Tacoma + Teardrop Camper - 25,000 miles on it... a life of road trips head of it!
I've been happy with all of them over the years. The 2018 Outback would still be working but we gave it to our college student to take to school ... so I guess it's still a road tripper, just not ours anymore LOL.
Did a bunch of road trips in a 2012 Honda Crosstour, it's been great. For the 2017 eclipse I drive this thing 1000 miles in a day.
Recently got a 2019 Tesla Model 3 and I'm actually really liking it for road trips. Yeah, you have to stop more frequently to charge, but 1) it allows more frequent bathroom/stretch/snack breaks, 2) it costs a lot less both to drive and maintain, and 3) it's just a great ride overall.
Not sure the Tesla will fully replace the Honda for road trips - some places have more supercharging stations available than others - but that hasn't been a problem yet.
Generally my 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, it’s the most comfortable car I’ve ever been in for long drives. If it’s a shorter trip and I’m ok with maybe breaking down I will take my 1973 MGB
Not camping, or only occasional overnight camping? Subaru Forester.
Lots of camping or more than 3 people? F-150 Hybrid (aka "Powerboost") extended cab.
17 Subaru Crosstrek with 117k on it and much more to come. Wish I had something a little bigger though. But with my Thule hard shell it’s perfect for my wife and I for any trip
https://preview.redd.it/zul7vvdrnd3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed0dc24d6af98c3b60826344c207a54214f87f1b
23 macan gts in python green. I’m from south Texas, just picked it up in Feb and have already done a 6k trip out to nm,Utah,Arizona, Cali.
Previous was a 22 Audi rs6. Drove that to Canada and the pnw a couple of times, slept in it too.
C-Max Energi - cheap to buy, cheap to operate. Low heat transmissive dark tinted windows in the back. Perfect for stealth sleeping on a comfy platform bed with all night HVAC when needed. Storage shelves, power bank with solar panels for CPAP and instant pot for uber healthy meals. Even has an emergency bag toilet when needed. I carry a winch for questionable roads. Can't argue with 40 plus MPG.
If it’s paved roads and some gravel, it’s a 2017 Honda CRV (To Alaska, Redwoods, Glacier, Canadian Rockies) If it’s substantial gravel and some totally off-road, a 2016 Tacoma (Moab and Kanab).
For road-trips-I love my Traverse. Drove it from MA to Nashville. Great ride. Also from MA to Florida. Super comfortable, vented seats, PLENTY of room and can get out of its own way.
My 2006 VW Rabbit 2.5, currently with 220,000 miles and counting.
It drove around Miami for 5 yrs before I took it first to New Jersey and back, then to Utah and back 3 times over 2 years, with various trips from Utah to Colorado and Vegas throughout.
It ate a 350lbs full grown buck deer. I rebuilt it myself.
Depends on the terrain I’m heading to, but ideally a minivan or an SUV with fold flat rear seats and 4WD. Perfect for holding gear and a place for my dog to stretch out
1977 K5 Blazer: Portland, Or to Anchorage AK
2001 VW Jetta: Multiple cross country trips - typically Portland to NY or Jersey
2004 Ford Expedition: Seattle, WA to Baja, MX to Xela Guatemala to Brownsville, TX to Portland, OR
2003 Honda CRV: Portland, OR to Texas to East Coast
2013 Honda CRV: multiple cross country trips

2003 Toyota MR2. Took it on an 8000 mile road trip last summer from Vegas up to Alaska.

2022 Corolla hybrid. Getting 50-60 mpg. And about 600 miles per tank.
I just replaced my 2018 Cadillac XT5 with a new XT6. My wife and I normally drive about 20,000 miles (36,000km) every year, most of which are highway miles. Next year, however, I've planned a trip from Naples, Florida to Anchorage, Alaska. We will take the inter coastal-ferry to Vancouver and return home to Ohio. We will be using my 2010 Ford F-150. It's got 65,000 miles in it and I'm expecting to put another 10,000 miles on it by the end of the trip.
Well, depends on what I'm doing along the way. Blasting quick as possible between two points, possibly staying at a hotel if needed? 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara Limited 4x4. 150Kish miles.
My upcoming trip that will involve some camping in the Colorado mountains before hitting my ultimate destination and other trips with a bit more off roading? '96 Chevy K2500 4x4 diesel pickup (seriously..don't buy one of these 6.5L trash piles..it's been reliable, but WOEFULLY underpowered), 230Kish miles, with a roof top tent over the bed. This is because it has far more room in the interior for all my extra stuff - two ham radios, a laptop on a docking station, and two Android tablets. One tablet in the dash working as the radio, the rest all mounted to a steel center console. Plus all the associated antennas on the roof, a slew of off road lights, and ability to pull a decent trailer if needed.
2023 Elantra Hybrid. Amazing car with great mpgs and very comfortable and quiet on the highway, considering the class of the vehicle. The only issue is the ground clearance. I can't really get on most dirt roads as I'm afraid I'll get stuck.
Everybody out here with their fancy Subaru, I bought a 2005 used Civic hybrid 2 years ago and have put 42k miles on it crisscrossing california. It ain’t spacious or all that comfortable, but it has been really reliable and efficient (35-39 mpg).
Depends on the situation. If i just want to drive to CA for whatever reason and I don't plan on doing anything other than commuting between areas, I'll take my RX450. If I want to drive along the PCH, I'll take my SC430. And if I want to go off roading, I'll take my GX470. I really need to combine my RX and GX, tho.
2010 Ford Focus. She’s excellent on gas mileage and have taken her on our longest trips without a fuss! From our home in Winnipeg we drove her to:
* New York City and back (2020)
* to Chicago to do Route 66 to LA and back (2022)
* to the West Coast including Western Canada, Vancouver, NorCal, SLC, Yellowstone, and Mt. Rushmore (2023) and
* to the Ozarks to see the eclipse, and down to Memphis and New Orleans before coming back via Louisville and Chicago (2024)
Plus others I may have forgotten and of course daily driving needs. Two oceans, probably at least half the states and tens of thousands of kms. And still goes like a charm.
Don’t think I’ll find a better one when the time comes. :(
I'm on my second leased Kia Sportage right now, and it's a great road trip vehicle. My only complaint is that, because I'm leasing, I have to buy a new trailer hitch mount every 3 years when I get a new vehicle.
2018 Chrysler Pacifica minivan. Absolutely the most quiet, comfortable, and capable vehicle I've ever owned. Awesome for long trips with the family and lots of luggage space. I can even get around 500 miles per tank on the highway, depending on how heavily loaded the van is, and whether the road is pretty flat or if it's up and down lots of hills.
Toyota Corolla. sorry it's not as exciting or cool, but it works and gets me across the states reliably, with enough room for all the crap i take with me.
Currently, a 2013 Mazda 5 mini-minivan. Only has 60K miles, though, and it's a blast to drive...lately, I make two round trips from Milwaukee to SoCal in the fall so I can watch my son play football.
Put about 120K on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited over the past 8 years before a drunk driver removed me of said vehicle.
While I'm waiting for the 2025s to be available, I'm on the fence about whether I want another 4 door or go to a 2-door this time. I can fit the longest things I own in the 2, and I only carried rear-seat passengers twice in 8 years.
Depends on time of year and what I am doing. Camping or winter- Tacoma TRD OR. Gas mileage sucks, but comfortable. Summer - 2012 SLK350, eats up the miles in complete comfort, room for golf clubs and suitcases, or two people and suitcases, gets 28-33 mpg
2012 Honda Fit. Family of four (2 young kids in booster seats), and pack so everything fits in the trunk. Longest we've done is 3,000 over 12 days. Perfectly reliable, decent gas mileage (32-34 with the cruise set at 74-79 MPH when possible), and enjoyable to drive and ride in.
I only have two wishes: slightly less road noise, and better headlights. Oh, and a manual transmission. Have an auto and really wish it was a manual.
I got a 2014 Subaru Outback. Got 106K, so should be good for a cross country run and back. Plenty of room in the back for a full stretch nap, when needed.
2012 hatchback Yaris. Fits 2 persons and way more stuff than I could imagine when I bought it. I love this car and it'll break my heart when it'll be time to change it, they don't sell that model in Canada anymore :(
2015 Toyota RAV4. She served me well on two back-to-back treks from Atlanta down the Florida coast. Taking her up to Va. this weekend. The only thing I wish it had was a bit more cargo room as I tend to be an over packer.

My Honda Element! Mostly stealthy on the outside, prev owner converted it on the inside w convertible bed, desk, storage, sink, fridge. Only no toilet nor shower, but I’ve done a few 3-mth long road trips and was great. Planet fitness membership and befriending vanlifers w showers helped.
There is only one answer.
https://preview.redd.it/v5ozzktmff3d1.jpeg?width=840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6adad65f558284a9817a40bf40d3f971354fcfd0
But really, I daily drive and road trip in a 1995 For Bronco.
Unironically, PT cruiser with almost 200,000 on it. Been problem free on all my trips. Have a roof carrier and tow hitch and have plenty of luggage space. Comfortable heated seats, and the world's coldest A/C if I need it.
MX-5. The most comfortable seat I’ve ever had combined with 62 mpg on long hauls across France, fun on the small roads and enough boot space for a week or two of camping.
2018 Escalade ESV Platinum. I’ve put 40,000 miles on it 18 months going back n forth to NJ/NY and FL & New Orleans. Put 750 miles on it today and got 21.2 mpg always with premium fuel. 6,000 lbs empty and I can carry 6-7 people plus all outer luggage for a weeks beach trip.
2014 Ford Fusion with the 1.5L EcoBoost. 115k miles. Right now, it's... kinda dicey. I don't take it very far anymore. I bought it in an emergency and admittedly haven't taken the best care of it. Got a few things wrong with it and an engine known for catastrophic failure. Trying to decide if I want to invest in fixing it or take the loss and trade it in. I just can't decide what I want in my next car besides something Japanese.
Just traded in my ‘21 XC90 which I put 68k miles on in less than 3 years-longest road trip being a cross country San Diego-VT and back in a big circle last summer. This summer I’ll be breaking in my new ‘24 Lexus TX550h+.
I used to go in my Kia Rio. Got a lot of mileage on it... but the car wasn't a well made car... then I traded it in in fall of 2019 (great timing, right? :) ) for a Jeep SUV. I love this car for road trips. Lots of room... the cat always comes with me and has a good place to sleep and a lot of room in the back for his stuff and his litter box and food.
I have a renault clio (European car) in Europe. Drove it across the continent couple of times. Drove to the middle east and Asia. 33 countries visited so far
Chevy Spark, 2 people with camping gear in the back. Great on gas and decently fun to drive. Drove from Toronto to Denver to Utah, to Oregon to nav Oliver island to Calgary and Glacier national park to Yellowstone to the black hills and back to Niagara. It was amazing, I’d do it again if I can get some time off work!
2015 Porsche Macan Turbo. It's honestly the best roadtrip car for two people and a dog. We've done three month long cross country trips and many more trips up and down the west coast and to Utah and Wyoming for ski season. It's been super reliable and never broken down on us. We have a ski and bike racks that mount on the trailer hitch and have enough space to take all our camping and adventure gear.
Only downside is maintenance and fuel costs. Too bad they don't sell the diesel ones in the US. In Germany we have a 2018 BMW 530d xDrive Wagon and drive it all over Europe and that's been great and gets 1000km per tank driving at 180kph.

2013 Honda Odyssey!
Same! While the actual engine still runs great at 140K miles, we’re starting to see some other issues. The paint is peeling and sometimes one of the sliding doors won’t close. Are you seeing anything similar?
Our 2013 Odyssey hit 130K and got old fast. We sold it soon after. Ran good but the accessories and such didn’t hold up well.
I'm here for the minivan. 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid in my case.
Prius. It’s just me and my husband, so when we fold down the back seats, we can fit 4 large suitcases and whatever else we need. We spent a month on the road in April.
/r/PriusDwellers as well
2004 Lexus LX470.
Yeahhhh now we’re talkin, I’ve got a 2013 GX460, my families put similar mileage on it the last 2 years since we’ve owned it
Holy gas station visits. I have a 4runner and couldn’t imagine that much gas lol
It does make me miss the diesel six-speed VW Sportwagen I owned before the LX. Thing had a 13-gallon tank but could squeeze out almost 600 miles on the highway before refueling.
lol $10,000 in gas in 2 years
My dad had that car and put more than 300,000 miles on it.
Dafaq, how long did it take to do that
I spent three months. It can be done much faster, but I was on a road trip to explore the various areas I drove to, not to set a land speed record.
Nah, I get it, you’d suck all the fun out if you wanna set a record lol, I was just curious.
Bought a CX5 two years ago, 45k miles and I think fifteen national parks later and I couldn't be much happier with it. My last car was a prius and while the gas mileage was fantastic, this feels like a significant upgrade.
CX3 here. Love it but wish I’d opted for the bigger one
I bought mine largely based on how much I liked the CX30 I rented for a camping trip when living car free, but knew I needed more space because I had it PACKED.
The 30 seems a hair bigger than the 3. I ended up having a passenger and I totally had to rearrange with all my camping stuff in there.
Yeah, my wife had a bag between her legs in the passenger seat that trip. But the CX5 with a rooftop shell and hitch bike rack? I feel like I can carry ALL the things!

Where was this photo taken? And how do I get there
Some random dirt pull off I went down off highway 17 in Idaho. Wish I could tell you more but most the drive that day had no cell service
Those random dirt pull offs are one of the best parts of road tripping!
My brakes disagree hahah
That looks like Idaho. Nice pic btw.
Ughhhhh, I love the wilderness edition. I have a crosstrek and don’t have a car payment anymore and then this popped up. I love the green and the blue
It's treating me well! Loaded to the hilt in this Pic on my 4600 mile move across country. Brought me everywhere I wanted to go! 200 of those miles were dirt roads😆
My wilderness brethren! I have the 22 Outback Wilderness and absolutely love it.
I have a ‘24 Premium - love it, but the OBW is definitely the more suitable car for the places I end up. I’ll probably trade up in a year or two.
Well, I'm jealous of your vented seats and mpg's! The other trims weren't on my radar how ever, was a tough choice between this and a TRD pro Tacoma but I let my inner adult decide, thankfully, would of regretted the taco fs!
Nice.

Great pics! Where is the top left?
Thanks and that’s Monument Rocks in western Kansas.
2023 Crosstrek, here!
I have almost identical pictures with my SUV! Love this!
Awesome!
23 RAV4 Hybrid. Amazingly capable little vehicle.
Yep! I have the 22 and love her so much. It’s great getting 42mpg and it’s pretty quick when I need it to be
2015 Taurus SHO. It's over 200K miles, and getting a little flaky. But it's still my road trip vehicle of choice.
7 passenger minivan
Ford F-150. Not ideal from an MPG standpoint. But extremely comfortable over long distances and can hold all our gear and more.
1st gen Honda Ridgeline with a Leer shell, SUV tent and shade tarp. 3” foam bed that can fold out to fill the 5’ bed or 6’ with the tailgate down.
Old Jeep Wrangler TJ, with a hard top and the back seat removed.
Subaru Forester Touring Model. It was perfect on our 5 week road trip.
2018 Elantra. Would have loved something else but when I was in the market for a used car, this was the most cost effective and great fuel economy. I get 45 on highways and it’s not even a hybrid so I guess it’s worth it https://preview.redd.it/u81o6s7exc3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9570464eba0b1e747866bf045a0d18a51eb60020
Suburban
Whatever Budget gives me. Most fun car Mustang GT. Worst Mitsubishi Mirage.

Was this picture taken in Wilson canyon?
This was taken in western Colorado. We do multi day roadtrips through Colorado, Utah, and some other surrounding states 1-2 times a summer.
Cool!

Also a Crosstrek for me. Have a 2019 and have driven it cross country 5 times since getting it, in addition to numerous other shorter road trips and in Mexico. It’s been great. The minimal issues it’s had have not been related to our long trips and it’s a fun comfortable ride every time.

Ram 1500 to tow our Casita.
Ford F350 diesel towing a 36’ Reflection fifth wheel
Depends on the trip. Near the beaten path? Rivian R1S. Deep into the wilderness? Toyota Land Cruiser. https://preview.redd.it/blx9vtruoc3d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cff86f8a8d35de6f0bb26d04cd4985b321323511

Nice plate.
2002 toyota echo or 2001 toyota landcruiser when its not broken
Top trim level Touring XT Outback. The car did Boston to the Vail valley for a month at Christmas with Nokian studless snow tires. It went to Bar Harbor last summer. It’s been to Logan Airport probably a dozen times. I usually fly places.
My 2019 Acura MDX. It is so quiet, has a great sound system, the seats are comfortable, and the AWD has handled two snow storms with ease when I was driving between Arkansas and Montana in April. I already have close to 70k miles on it and have had zero issues.
2019 Toyota Corolla LE. Does great on road trips and gets excellent gas mileage
2020 Tesla Model 3. 100,000 miles of road trips all over the western US. A fine road trip car.
2023 Telluride. So roomy and comfy inside and the thing practically drives itself.
https://preview.redd.it/s3hgapxz4d3d1.jpeg?width=3123&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b87741b6f5978f090e351894b11a4ee3caae1598 2013 Chevy Spark. I do it on the cheap lol
Honda Odyssey. Super comfortable for 5 plus luggage/gear. Once at destination and emptied of gear, we're often putting 7 people in it. It's decent enough for that for short local rides.
2023 Tesla Model 3 standard range! Longest road trip I've done with it so far is 1,730 km (Toronto to Halifax) https://preview.redd.it/5htemovatd3d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=166b9ce124e823777ba59ca8e7815fab1f7b17b8

Amen to autopilot. I'm doing the same 1700 km trip this year, eager to subscribe to FSD for the month and see how it handles it
‘19 Ram 2500 Laramie. It’s comfy and good on fuel when you let her eat. Washboard roads are a bit miserable, but I’m pretty lightly loaded on dirt roads as of late.
2023 Hyundai Elantra! Sleeps two uncomfortably!
Depends. Usually my old Tacoma. Before the accident, the Forester was used a lot too.
Yamaha Tracer 9 GT. Powerful, reliable engine, heated grips, and you can strap anything to the thing. It's practically an SUV.
https://preview.redd.it/d27b4abjtc3d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc8245e6ebe95d5294f7aa70addade942af31e52 2017 Subaru Outback
Thanks for rhe "heads up". I'll look in to it.
Kia Stinger
2019 subaru outback. Already covered 3,500 miles. Will be stopping home in a few days then leaving on our annual roadtrip mid July and be back in September-ish.
I too have the '19 V6
DIY campervan based on a highroof van. Being able to stand up (when parked) for long distance travel is priceless.
2011 Toyota Tundra CrewMax. Great road vehicle.
Either my Ford Escape or Kia Forte
2015 Subaru forester. It’s made about 8 annual trips from NC to New England so far.
I like my wife’s Kona. Small enough to maneuver everywhere but has enough space to fit out neeeds
First it was a RAV4, then an Outback, now I'm using a Lexus RX350 (a Lexus badged Highlander).
2020 Dodge Challenger... it is an experience like no other. 🤌
2016 Honda Pilot. Comfy, sturdy, good power, Thule roof rack and Thule rear hitch bike rack. Perfect.
2015 Audi Q7 diesel. That sumbitch roadtrips. 3 large dogs, 2 humans and a pod on the roof and there’s nowhere we won’t go. Love that tank!
2004 E500 estate wagon
2012 Outback - gonna hit 200k this summer
Previous road trippers: 2008 Outback -- Sold in 2018 with 140,000 miles on it 2018 Outback -- Going strong with 125,000 miles on it Current road tripper: 2023 Tacoma + Teardrop Camper - 25,000 miles on it... a life of road trips head of it!
2022 Honda Passport one person and dog. two month long trips. no complaints.
Generally my 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, it’s the most comfortable car I’ve ever been in for long drives. If it’s a shorter trip and I’m ok with maybe breaking down I will take my 1973 MGB
2020 x3
Not camping, or only occasional overnight camping? Subaru Forester. Lots of camping or more than 3 people? F-150 Hybrid (aka "Powerboost") extended cab.

17 Subaru Crosstrek with 117k on it and much more to come. Wish I had something a little bigger though. But with my Thule hard shell it’s perfect for my wife and I for any trip

I’m from south Texas, just picked it up in Feb and have already done a 6k trip out to nm,Utah,Arizona, Cali. Previous was a 22 Audi rs6. Drove that to Canada and the pnw a couple of times, slept in it too.
Volvo V60CC. Lots of room, perfect seats... first thing I've had in years that makes me want to drive more and farther.
2018 Tundra Crewmax. Thirsty, but I can eke out 500 miles to a tank if I keep my foot out of it.
back in the day we had a mini van with a 10 disk cd changer we would all kick in cds kids included and put it on random interesting selections
Nissan Xterra!
Just finished a 35 hr road trip with a ford explorer. It was very comfy :)
Depends on the terrain I’m heading to, but ideally a minivan or an SUV with fold flat rear seats and 4WD. Perfect for holding gear and a place for my dog to stretch out
BMW 3 series for quick trips, Honda Pilot for Camping, Landrover for winter driving.
1977 K5 Blazer: Portland, Or to Anchorage AK 2001 VW Jetta: Multiple cross country trips - typically Portland to NY or Jersey 2004 Ford Expedition: Seattle, WA to Baja, MX to Xela Guatemala to Brownsville, TX to Portland, OR 2003 Honda CRV: Portland, OR to Texas to East Coast 2013 Honda CRV: multiple cross country trips

Also a crosstrek! So reliable.
2016 Honda Pilot
2023 Elantra Hybrid. Amazing car with great mpgs and very comfortable and quiet on the highway, considering the class of the vehicle. The only issue is the ground clearance. I can't really get on most dirt roads as I'm afraid I'll get stuck.
A VW Passat tdi. Great cruising on the highway, plenty of space, 40-45MPG
From our home in Winnipeg we drove her to: * New York City and back (2020) * to Chicago to do Route 66 to LA and back (2022) * to the West Coast including Western Canada, Vancouver, NorCal, SLC, Yellowstone, and Mt. Rushmore (2023) and * to the Ozarks to see the eclipse, and down to Memphis and New Orleans before coming back via Louisville and Chicago (2024) Plus others I may have forgotten and of course daily driving needs. Two oceans, probably at least half the states and tens of thousands of kms. And still goes like a charm. Don’t think I’ll find a better one when the time comes. :(
Honda Pilot Gen 2-comfortable, reasonable fuel economy and can pack all the things for a long camping trip. I love this Beast!
Work pays for my car, so Ford escape with free everything.
1988 GMC Vandura 2500
2003 Ford F-150. I’ve had it since 46,000 miles in 2009. It’s now at 181,000 miles and I’ve driven it all over the country and back.
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2008 Ford Ranger.
Love my Sienna ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Currently, a 2013 Mazda 5 mini-minivan. Only has 60K miles, though, and it's a blast to drive...lately, I make two round trips from Milwaukee to SoCal in the fall so I can watch my son play football.
Van
Put about 120K on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited over the past 8 years before a drunk driver removed me of said vehicle. While I'm waiting for the 2025s to be available, I'm on the fence about whether I want another 4 door or go to a 2-door this time. I can fit the longest things I own in the 2, and I only carried rear-seat passengers twice in 8 years.
2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Super reliable, fun to drive, but not ideal for long hauls.
2019 Harley Davidson Road Glide Special
Honda Odyssey
Depends on time of year and what I am doing. Camping or winter- Tacoma TRD OR. Gas mileage sucks, but comfortable. Summer - 2012 SLK350, eats up the miles in complete comfort, room for golf clubs and suitcases, or two people and suitcases, gets 28-33 mpg
2nd Gen Prius all the way!
https://preview.redd.it/7nii9y8mwe3d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3761a1466df040d1bf8c517c1f4c2cdfa8d5bb6 50k miles in two years
2012 Honda Fit.
2015 Accord Sport. Great vehicle for road trips
2012 Pathfinder! She’s the tits!
Job provided 2022 Nissan rogue
I got a 2014 Subaru Outback. Got 106K, so should be good for a cross country run and back. Plenty of room in the back for a full stretch nap, when needed.
2008 Chevy Trailblazer. To blaze the trails.
1993 Honda Goldwing. Went on a month long, 12,000 mile, 14 state solo remote camping trip on it last year, things an absolute beast 👌
2001 Toyota Tundra 4x4 V8 with roughly 290k on it. Hard canopy over the back for car camping. Gas guzzler but otherwise pretty reliable.
2012 hatchback Yaris. Fits 2 persons and way more stuff than I could imagine when I bought it. I love this car and it'll break my heart when it'll be time to change it, they don't sell that model in Canada anymore :(
‘13 Porsche 911 C4
2015 Toyota RAV4. She served me well on two back-to-back treks from Atlanta down the Florida coast. Taking her up to Va. this weekend. The only thing I wish it had was a bit more cargo room as I tend to be an over packer.
I have been enjoying road trips in my 2018 Toyota 4Runner.
2020 Chevrolet Traverse. Just returned to Texas from a trip to Yellowstone NP. Decent gas mileage and EVERYTHING fits.
https://preview.redd.it/d22kcr3pef3d1.jpeg?width=2813&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6dcb036d799edbf40df408d828c4a051182ee8f6 My Honda Element! Mostly stealthy on the outside, prev owner converted it on the inside w convertible bed, desk, storage, sink, fridge. Only no toilet nor shower, but I’ve done a few 3-mth long road trips and was great. Planet fitness membership and befriending vanlifers w showers helped.
There is only one answer. https://preview.redd.it/v5ozzktmff3d1.jpeg?width=840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6adad65f558284a9817a40bf40d3f971354fcfd0 But really, I daily drive and road trip in a 1995 For Bronco.
2019 Subaru Forster Sport. Perfect for me, my lady and our German Shepherd! It’s been driven XC three times! But technically six (there and back)
2023 Toyota Sienna. Comfortable for long drives and will hold anything and as much I want to pack.
Land Rover but jeebus….I have trust issues with it. So far so good.
2007 FJ cruiser with 225000 miles on it just drove to Colorado yesterday for the summer. Headed to Florida in November
Tesla Model Y Sleep in the back, kitchen in the frunk
Just traded in my ‘21 XC90 which I put 68k miles on in less than 3 years-longest road trip being a cross country San Diego-VT and back in a big circle last summer. This summer I’ll be breaking in my new ‘24 Lexus TX550h+.
A 2010 Toyota Corolla with 232,000 miles on it. Should be good as new
I used to go in my Kia Rio.
2018 Highlander.
Whatever I get from an rental company
I have a renault clio (European car) in Europe. Drove it across the continent couple of times. Drove to the middle east and Asia. 33 countries visited so far
Chevy Spark, 2 people with camping gear in the back. Great on gas and decently fun to drive. Drove from Toronto to Denver to Utah, to Oregon to nav Oliver island to Calgary and Glacier national park to Yellowstone to the black hills and back to Niagara. It was amazing, I’d do it again if I can get some time off work!
2020 Outback. Almost 70k now - including 2 coast to coast round trips.
Toyota fj cruiser. Florida to Alaska x 3.
2023 Toyota Venza, it is quiet and smooth riding with more than enough room to fit everything in. The 36+ MPG doesn't hurt either.
2015 Camry Hybrid, comfortable and good on fuel and capacious enough to hold all of our stuff.
In Germany we have a 2018 BMW 530d xDrive Wagon and drive it all over Europe and that's been great and gets 1000km per tank driving at 180kph. https://preview.redd.it/w2o76qtfvb3d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0b04a280fa0c04e0b576de34910083369476f99
2007 Outback. It's got almost 170k miles on it, and I may end up selling it this year to get a newer model
