We got teepee'd once about 10 years ago.

I’ve had my car hit several times parked on the street, once in front of my work which I watched happen and a couple times in front of my house.

_815_

What’s the purpose of this post?

bafflingmetaphor

It's for her tiktok probably, based on her socials. Careful about giving out identifying information.

itsalieimnotaghost

Shit thanks man

Curiosity, since Rockford has been put on a most dangerous city list. They say 1 in 24 people have experienced a crime in Rockford. I have experienced many different crimes. I was just wondering how many other people have as well.

_815_

Official crime statistics would be a much more accurate source than a random sampling of Reddit users.

ButteredPizza69420

Tik tok is brain rot

Stephanie_Schroeder

I’ve lived here my whole life and have never experienced a crime 🤷‍♀️

manaretta

I've lived here for about 30 of my 43 years alive and have not seen/experienced any crime beyond very minor traffic violations (e.g. speeding or missing a stop sign).

[deleted]

You’re very lucky. I’ve also worked retail and the amount of theft is just crazy.

manda-panda79

Retail theft does not translate to crime against YOU. Unless you were the proprietor

Flamdabnimp

Someone took my weedwacker outta the back of my van.

Alleira_red

I was approached by a guy when I was in 6th grade while waiting for the bus in the morning. He kept asking me questions and said he was going to the same school (he was clearly late 20s). Then he lunged towards me and tried to grab me, I screamed and he ran off screaming derogatory things towards me. Never told a soul except years later in therapy.

Professional_Day_568

I was next door when that guy robbed subway by wendy’s on e state. The girl working took the burglars gun though. Very funny story.

Comrade716

She's ready for a job at Waffle House.

[deleted]

I hadn’t heard about that. Sounds funny though!

Thank you for sharing!

MizStazya

My husband was held up at gunpoint in our driveway on Christmas Eve almost a decade ago. Almost got shot, dude kept screaming for him to take the keys out of the ignition, husband's like, IT'S A PUSH BUTTON START. Two police chases ended in our yard over the 15 years we lived in our house.

Puzzleheaded_Hat4556

Was one a blue Honda rollover in your yard?

MizStazya

Neither of the police chases rolled over, but a regular type crash did on memorial day a few years back. Don't remember what the car was though.

Thats just Illinois

Majestic-Pay-1996

Ive had my car broken into. 3 shootings in my driveway over the course of 18 years. 2 Separate verbal altercations with neighbors where my life was threatened. Both of them had to do with where my car was parked. It was parked legally. I don’t recommend buying a home with a shared driveway. Its been a nightmare. But the one altercation had to do with me parking my car infront of a neighbors house. He wanted me to move my car in the middle of the night cause he came home and wanted to put his truck where my car was. His reason so that his camera can view his truck at all times. I thought the banging on my door was ridiculous. Yelling into my ring camera to move my car before he has someone he knows tow it away. Unfortunately ive witnessed way more crime than ive experienced happening to myself.

Grotto27

Moved here in 2016. I had my doors kicked in twice. A picture window broken. Crack heads taking things from my yard in broad daylight about six times. One summer my car was tossed eight times when it was parked behind my house. Too many to count shots fired: in 2020 there were 20 incidents alone within a block of me, in 2016 there were seven drive by shootings on my block. Then there are the run of the mill nuisances like public urination, day drinking in vacant lots, and panhandling. I'm very engaged with my Community Police Officer.

Puzzleheaded_Hat4556

I was hit by a guy running from the police rolled my car twice through a telephone pole and into someone's yard. I'm lucky to be alive

RepresentativeNews87

Heard screams of terror outside CherryVale Mall around 2019. Saw a drug addict get arrested outside a Walgreens. Someone snatched one of my car tires while it was parked somewhere.

DairyonBigs

Someone tried breaking into my place in the middle of the day. I was home.

disappointing-trash

Been here my whole life. Been robbed 4 times. But not recently.

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve lived here my whole life as well. Been robbed, jumped among other crimes.

obsidianronin

Been robbed, even just a few weeks ago. Held at gunpoint several times, some at work, some not. Shot at. Y'know, normal shit. But I'm not the majority. Most people are horrified to hear this. I'm used to this - I've been a magnet for bad luck since I was a child.

Revolutionary-Cup183

Hit by a car while trying to get the license plate of shoplifters. Shattered ankle and broken leg.

[deleted]

Omg! That is so messed up. I hope the cops caught them. Do you have any lasting issues?

Revolutionary-Cup183

Never caught them, lots of lasting issues, can't do anything physical for more than an hour before having to elevate and Ice, 2 + years later...

[deleted]

I’m so sorry that happened. It reminds me of that saying “nice guys finish last” saying. You try to do the right thing and some absolute bs happened to you

Jacobison_reddit

Someone ran out notti bopping people in a neighborhood not that long ago

NosyNelly815

Car drove into my house. 9 months pregnant at the time.

AITAforbeinghere

Paul Kissick was murdered on his own couch by his neighbor. Left a big hole in our friend group.

TacodWheel

I see cars running the four way stop in front of my house all day. Bout it. Been here for about 10 years now.

Frozgaar

Worst thing thats happened to me was my home was burglarized when I was away. That kind of thing can happen anywhere though. Never experienced any violence in my 30+ years.

krashtestgenius

My house was burglarized twice in 30 days. Made me move back to Chicago where it's safer
