Yea, that’s not a new a watch. I can’t speak to the value as it stands. And maybe OP is perfectly content to buy a watch with a little bit of wear (I have and likely will again). But the seller deserves a bad review, because future buyers don’t deserve the experience you had, OP.
Only *NEW* watches should be listed as new.
I had the same thought. It looks like the case has already been polished over that decently deep ding. This is a very used watch and should have been sold as such.
I wouldn’t keep it. Too many red flags, and now I could not trust the seller.
This 100% not new. No handling damage would ding the case like this.
For the money you spent, you should return the watch. The seller has lied to you and cannot be trusted. Some would say that you should ask for a discount - perhaps that is easiest, but you’ve been lied to - is there anything else about the watch you werent told?
I don’t know of anything else I wasn’t told. But I guess if there are mechanical defects in the future the warranty would cover it. As for the cosmetic defects, how much is reasonable to ask to get a discount back to my credit card?
Compare the price on chrono 24 for a well used watch with obvious signs of wear
Vs
Brand new with no signs of wear
The difference is what u should ask for.
I know an instance where a friend was denied warranty because of a ding (hardly visible) on his submariner. RSC claimed it has been banged and needed full service at cost before they would address the lack of accuracy.
My DJ is 10 years old, worn every day, and none of the scratches are deep enough that they wouldn’t completely polish out - unlike the ones above. Dealer is taking the p*ss.
The seller has sold a used watch as new. Those marks on the case back are from storing the watch dial up in the bracelet, numerous times.
I would send it back on principle alone. What else may be suspect with the watch? Water ingress? No, name and shame, return the used watch.
That polished out ding could invalidate the warranty, might have been dropped.
I’d get money back even if a 10-15% refund offered.
Maybe this is a sign you should be patient and get your name in the door at multiple ADs, save yourself 5k euros in the process.
That's not brand new and I would barely even regard the condition as 'very good' in chrono24 terms. I would send it back and avoid the headache in dealing with the dealer. If they lie like this, who knows what they are leaving unsaid.
Yeah, I would contact the seller to see what he’d offer as a discount. Link him this thread in the message and say you want to work this out, or you’ll put them on blast. No seller will want to tango like this for just $1000-2000 of profits.
I have been wearing my Submariner since I bought it new from Rolex in September and it has less wear than this watch. He should have advertised it as very good. Like new is not this in any way.
I’ve returned watches on Chrono24 that were advertised as new with way less wear than that. Return that shit and drop a negative feedback for wasting your time.
Send it back. You’ve overpaid for a brand new watch as it is so for me it’s a no brainer. Send it back, get your money back and don’t entertain grey dealers again is my advice.
4.3 rating for a grey dealer is might as well be a scam alert. 4.8 or higher. Also, never believe anyone else’s review. Hence the term, “Buy the seller”
Another reason why I will always wait patiently for my watches from my ADs.
Well simple enough. Return it if you dont like the watch because this isnt new condition.
Or ask for a partial refund.
Im not an expert, some people might confirm or deny it but im afraid some parts got polished.
I would straight up return it especially for the price you paid or ask back at least 1-2k€
That watch has been worn and polished, to me it’s clearly visible that it has been, and not just from the polished over ding that I can see that. Return it and get your money back quickly
First of all you have not received what you paid for, namely an new unworn watch.
So you have two choices:
1) negotiate a discount to a price representative of a watch in this condition and keep the watch
Or
2) return the watch for a full refund.
Given the dealer was dishonest with you about the condition of the watch I’d be included to do 2) and take your business elsewhere. I would also write an honest review of your experience.
Buying a watch should be an enjoyable experience, not a stressful or disappointing one.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
Return. Don’t compromise if it was advertised as BNIB. And definitely advertise their name because if you got played, most likely someone else has been too!
Send it back, 4.3 starts is not what I’d buy from either. Hate to say it but buying the cheapest one on top of that rating is a given for something like this to hapoen
Not in new condition, but also if you plan on wearing the watch I wouldn’t lose sleep over it as you’ll have 10x those marks in a month.
Would ask for a small concession since it was misleading to label it as new, but I would wear it and move on.
Yeah I’d definitely send that back. You’re getting a pretty well worn watch. If there is a bobs watch equivalent in the EU I would go that way instead of chrono24
That’s top dollar for a Batman too, I’d be very upset and sending it back. Hairlines on the clasp are going to happen, but not dings in the side of the case.
Send it back. You’ll never be happy knowing you paid such a huge price for a worn and damaged watch. Dents and dings tell the story. The problem is when you look down at your watch the story is of deception. Not something fun like “I got this scratch zip lining through a rainforest canopy.” You wanted an unworn watch and you were willing to pay for it. You should have nothing less. A discount does nothing for you.
If it was advertised as brand new I'd send it back immediately, there's nothing that would ding up a watch like that without wearing it for a while, it's definitely been used, and in a few places looks like it's been polished before too. Send it back and get your money back
I’ve been wearing mine every day for a few months now, the only wear is on the clasp. I’m not very careful with it. How tf does yours even have damage on the underside of the case
Ok all. After this bullshit fiasco, I’m going to return the watch for a full refund. The seller accepts return for full refund. On a positive note, out of the blue, my AD texted me that I can pick up a new 126710 BLNR oyster this week. OMG.
Advertised as new. It should be New or near perfect. Not visibly worn. This is why you should only buy from an AD only. Or in person. Don’t trust flippers and grey market dealers
You were charitable with your description (which I read before looking at photos). I expected a few micro scratches from handling, but this looks much worse than watches I have worn daily for many months. Return it, can't trust a seller who calls that "new/unworn".
Yeaaaahhh… that’s not a new watch. I imagine someone owned that for a couple weeks and sent it back to them and they’re still trying to sell it as “New”.
Honestly, send it back and start your adventure again. If he’s willing to take it back at no expense, he’s trying to rectify the mistake that shouldn’t have happened.
either get a good amount of discount back or return the watch, shipping paid on seller. What a jackass. Sorry this happen to you when you get excited over new watch, instead getting this used one.
Looks like it was worn for a while, then lightly polished and then lightly worn again. Definitely not new. Your next move depends on if you've paid a premium for it being like new. Eventually it will end up looking like this anyway, but you should be compensated for accepting it like this.
A nice watch should be a celebration. This one will dampen the thought.
I had a nice car that was broken into. The damage was fixed but it never was the same. A dark cloud over my excitement.
This watch would give me the same feelings.
That’s different than buying a watch which is lightly used. That’s part of the character.
I had a similar issue from a private seller once.
I told him I was displeased but then moved on.
I was going to wear it anyways.
You can just bring it in after some wear to your local AD and they’ll send it off at time for service for a polish. I think polish is $350-400
Send it back and wait for one from Rolex or buy a 90’s/00’s one, the prices are out of control. If you are OK potentially losing 5-6k in resale once the global economy takes a dump then get a watch that is actually new.
Where are you located? I may beable to suggest a dealer. This is going to bug you forever.
Either:
1. Get a refund
2. Have him send you a grand to make up for the difference
You will remember this bad experience every time you look at the watch until you do one of these. I have been there.
This is beyond ridiculous and clearly not brand new. Sorry this happened to you, I would be furious. I have not bought grey before; glad I have a good relationship with my AD where I get all watches. But if people choose to go the other route, they shouldn’t have to deal with this type of crap. This is literally deceptive trade practices…..
Its not brand new obviously. He sold it with wrong condition. Return or get a price adjustment. 4.3stars doesnt mean shit either.
I have dealer friends. Ive bought pieces and sold on chrono and ebay.
I have had sales and purchases rejected because of inaccurate condition listed.
Dont accept bullshit because that enables shitty dealer behavior.
Aint NOTHING reputable about selling a piece with micro scratches.
They didnt protect it and they didnt polish it lightly for you (not harmful for a light surface polish).
I recommend returning and buying from a more reputable seller, 4.7+ as reputable and solid. Maybe it’s 500 euros to a grand more but they will not mislead you
If it’s a reasonable price for used condition, then keep it. You’re planning on wearing it anyway.
Wouldn’t slam the dealer since he’s taking it back without any questions. Or try to negotiate $500 back.
Return this, this watch has been polished over and is so far from new… get on moda watch club in Facebook and find a dealer with tons of vouches, if they send you something that isn’t exactly as described they will make the deal refund you no questions asked….
i am guessing for you to refinish watch to factory look which would include lasering in new metal for dings, deep scratches and any overpolished work all ready done i would think it would run you approximately $1k.
i know rolliworks charges $250/hr for laser work plus the polish plus cost of shipping watch back and forth, changing gaskets, water pressure test etc . so at least that in discount plus a bit more because you now have a refinished watch (it will look like brand new) , plus the time , and hassle having to get work done.
Send it back or ask for a partial refund to cover the cost of having it polished and restored to like new condition. Otherwise send it back, that’s not new.
Def a used watch (not a tried on onece) what about the price? If it would be jn a range of a used one you should decide. If ypu get a new one for the money you payed definitely return refund and a review as you mentioned
That watch is far from new. You paid the amount a new one would go for so you deserve to have a new one in your possession. Honestly if I were in your situation I’d return it, take the money back and shop for one in better condition. The bracelet shows it has been polished over which means it was likely used even more prior to the polishing.
For reference, I got a submariner back in January and I’ve worn it quite a bit. It is not nearly as scratched and marked as the watch you’re showing. So if I paid the price of a new watch and received that I’d be angry too.
All in all, the watch is beautiful, and you did indeed get a good deal, but with that budget you could definitely get a watch in better shape.
The real question is why does Chrono24 let this through? They are supposed to have an escrow service that checks watch status and authenticity. New watch is not new.
Why would someone that waited a trillion years to get his Batman sell it brand new? And then if he did, why didn't the first or second person to try it on buy it? Instead it got refused so many times that it looks like this? Until you buy it over online? This doesn't add up. and EVEN IF, then the dealer is supposed to polish it to the brand new state and if he can't he shouldn't advertise brand new watches at all.
And tell him your posse of over 200k Rolex Redittors are ready to drag his name through the mud and be on his ass like Roaring Kitty on undervalued Gamestop stock.
I don’t see anywhere in your post that it was listed as a new watch. If it was in fact listed as brand new and you aren’t happy then return it, otherwise do you feel you received the condition of a watch that you paid for.
Return. You also overpaid relative to the market in the states. Don’t know how the German market is but in the states that is a $15,500 (~€14,500) or even lower watch. But again take that with a grain of salt as I am not sure how the market is in Germany
This is what happens when you buy things over the internet. This is not how “business” works. You blindly trusted this individual however one of the first rules in business is a Latin phrase caveat emptor which means buyer beware. I only do large things like this face-to-face and this way you don’t get burned. I would keep the watch however because it’s obviously something that you wanted and you just got taken so, consider the source and enjoy your timepiece.
Worn, def not like new, polished and scratched up. Paying over 16k would be the trigger for shipping it right back for me.
However…. If you like it and tend to make it your GADA EDC watch…. No need for handling a safe queen now! USE IT!
Send it the fuck back. You paid nearly 17 grand and you need to be over the fucking moon with a watch for that. At best you're underwhelmed. Nah send it back.
My 8 year old datejust doesn’t even have this signs of wear, and I work with it every day. This is a very used watch and that dang will give you problems selling it in the future. Wouldn’t even pay 40% less. Rolex also will not work on it because of the dang and will say you that you need a full service. To get that deep it must have had a very good hit.
That’s far from new. The seller deserves being reviewed negatively for this.
Yeah I was like wtf did he send the wrong watch?
Yea, that’s not a new a watch. I can’t speak to the value as it stands. And maybe OP is perfectly content to buy a watch with a little bit of wear (I have and likely will again). But the seller deserves a bad review, because future buyers don’t deserve the experience you had, OP. Only *NEW* watches should be listed as new.
That damage in the third pic almost looks like a ding that was polished over. Also that watch is not even close to like new.
I had the same thought. It looks like the case has already been polished over that decently deep ding. This is a very used watch and should have been sold as such. I wouldn’t keep it. Too many red flags, and now I could not trust the seller.
That was 100% polished.

Compare the price on chrono 24 for a well used watch with obvious signs of wear Vs Brand new with no signs of wear The difference is what u should ask for.
Ok I asked for 10% off which is close to market price per watch charts.
I had a pm day-date with far fewer scratches, and every dealer knocked significantly more than 10% off of quotes when I tried to sell it.
I know an instance where a friend was denied warranty because of a ding (hardly visible) on his submariner. RSC claimed it has been banged and needed full service at cost before they would address the lack of accuracy.
If advertised as brand new I would def return the piece. Pretty unfair for it to show up in that condition.
I believe I will.
4.3 stars on C24 is ATROCIOUS.
Right! OP said reputable dealer and 4.3 stars in the same sentence and I was like yeah that explains it all
Bro got what he paid for…literally
Def been worn.
worn is putting it lightly. looks like it's been through really rough conditions then polished to hide a lot of the damage
My DJ is 10 years old, worn every day, and none of the scratches are deep enough that they wouldn’t completely polish out - unlike the ones above. Dealer is taking the p*ss.
Which seller so we can avoid? If he gives you sh!t, show him this post.
Brand new is brand new. Thats means no marks otherwise its a slider at best
Agree
The seller has sold a used watch as new. Those marks on the case back are from storing the watch dial up in the bracelet, numerous times. I would send it back on principle alone. What else may be suspect with the watch? Water ingress? No, name and shame, return the used watch.
Absolutely unacceptable. I would demand a refund
Or try to have them discount it a bit and send you some money back. If they refuse, I’d send it back and leave a review just out of principle.
Has this been done before?
Has been done before. Ask for whatever you feel comfortable with and depending on what they say then you decide.
How much is reasonable to ask for back?
Just check on Chrono watches with similar scuffs how much they go for and ask the difference.
all of it with a fuck you buddy for selling me a used watch.
20% or send it back on them. They lied, and worse got caught.
Well worn. I’ve had mine for 1.5 years and it looks nothing like that!
4.3 stars is really low - I’d personally never choose someone below a 4.9, maybe a 4.8 since there are Karens out there.
Return it. Def isn’t what you thought you paid for
Why are you even entertaining this? Send this shit back.
That’s a used watch. Send back.
That polished out ding could invalidate the warranty, might have been dropped. I’d get money back even if a 10-15% refund offered. Maybe this is a sign you should be patient and get your name in the door at multiple ADs, save yourself 5k euros in the process.

I have been wearing my Submariner since I bought it new from Rolex in September and it has less wear than this watch. He should have advertised it as very good. Like new is not this in any way.
He advertised it as “brand new without signs of wear”.
Very good condition at best
Send it back. Get your money and leave a 1/5 review.
No way that’s new , send it back and post a negative review
I’ve returned watches on Chrono24 that were advertised as new with way less wear than that. Return that shit and drop a negative feedback for wasting your time.
Well if you’re not happy with it don’t release the funds from the C24 escrow and send it back.
Send it back. You’ve overpaid for a brand new watch as it is so for me it’s a no brainer. Send it back, get your money back and don’t entertain grey dealers again is my advice.

I'd be sending that back. Looks like it has been worn out and about and possibly polished in one area.
Nope. He lied and you bought it because it was new
Send it back its a used watch
That watch is definitely not new and you certainly paid the price for a new one. Send it back and don’t think twice about it.
4.3 rating for a grey dealer is might as well be a scam alert. 4.8 or higher. Also, never believe anyone else’s review. Hence the term, “Buy the seller” Another reason why I will always wait patiently for my watches from my ADs.
Absolutely I would send that watch back! And if they did not want to return it, I would get a lawyer involved!
I’d send it back.
Well simple enough. Return it if you dont like the watch because this isnt new condition. Or ask for a partial refund. Im not an expert, some people might confirm or deny it but im afraid some parts got polished. I would straight up return it especially for the price you paid or ask back at least 1-2k€
Return it and get your money back and stop Dealing with scummy grey market dealers.
If you go to pick up your new car and it comes scratched, would you just accept it?
It’s been worn either ask for a discount or send it back
That watch has been worn and polished, to me it’s clearly visible that it has been, and not just from the polished over ding that I can see that. Return it and get your money back quickly

die uhr wurde 100 prozent getragen und sogar schon poliert !!!!!!
Mine is 3 years old and looks about the same.
It’s bad.
Name and shame the dealer.
It took me months to get scratches like that in my Batman. I’d either ask for some money back or return it. Good luck
Who sold it so we avoid them?
I’d send that back. Clearly used.
Send it back. That’s terrible.
Another “reputable dealer” on the grey market. Send it back.
Send it back
Would send back - unless if you plan to wear the shit out of it. If so, don’t bother But do work out a resolution with him some other kind of way
That’s a well worn watch that’s been half polished
I would negotiate a refund enough to cover the cost of sending it to VintWatches in Germany to be restored back to as new condition.
Return. Don’t compromise if it was advertised as BNIB. And definitely advertise their name because if you got played, most likely someone else has been too!
Name and shame. That is not a new watch. Get your money back if you can.
That watch has seen some sh*t. I would send it back and get the money back.
My 2 year old sub looks like this lol
Absolutely a used watch. I have watches that I’ve had in rotation for years with less damage.
I know firsthand that that did not come back from Rolex like that
Yeah, I’d send it to me
Drop the sellers name cause that is not brand new at all. In fact it might have even been polished.
Send that shit back. The end.
[удалено]
Worn, get you money back imho
Don’t buy on chrono24. 90% are scammers or shady dealers. I would send it back.
Send it back, 4.3 starts is not what I’d buy from either. Hate to say it but buying the cheapest one on top of that rating is a given for something like this to hapoen
Report to C24 and send back, claim any losses through C24
Not in new condition, but also if you plan on wearing the watch I wouldn’t lose sleep over it as you’ll have 10x those marks in a month. Would ask for a small concession since it was misleading to label it as new, but I would wear it and move on.
Yarp
Tell him you want a partial refund or you'll sue. And post pictures and give a negative review.
My 2014 sub is in better condition 😅 get a refund!
Yeah I’d definitely send that back. You’re getting a pretty well worn watch. If there is a bobs watch equivalent in the EU I would go that way instead of chrono24
Send it back, give a negative review and post the seller’s name
Absolutely and replace it with a Tudor Chronogrph myself.
name and shame
That’s top dollar for a Batman too, I’d be very upset and sending it back. Hairlines on the clasp are going to happen, but not dings in the side of the case.
Send it back. You’ll never be happy knowing you paid such a huge price for a worn and damaged watch. Dents and dings tell the story. Send it back dude
Send it back 100%. Make sure you track it and have the package insured appropriately. This is not at all what it was described as. Wish you luck
Especially with him offering to take it back, helll yea I would. That’s more than just handling marks
For that price… Send it back.
I'd send that back and give a negative review.
Chrono24 is working with me to get a return label. Never again from this dealer
It is far from new and you should get a significant discount or return it. I personally would not waste my time with such a seller.
Send it back
Yes, send back if it’s not as described. You can find a Batman in FB groups for 13k
Send it back! Which dealer was it and from.which country? If you don't want to mention it here, pm me please.
Watch is definitely polished
Drop the name
100% send it back, don't even entertain a discount - at this point if they've lied about this much, what more could they be hiding?
Send it back.
🗑️it. Hulk smash, smash Batman!
See if you can get partial refund and keep watch ?
If it was advertised as brand new I'd send it back immediately, there's nothing that would ding up a watch like that without wearing it for a while, it's definitely been used, and in a few places looks like it's been polished before too. Send it back and get your money back
My sub I daily, travel, work, surf, snorkel with looks more new than that
That’s why I never deal with grey dealers. They are all a bunch of scammers
Send it back immediately!!
I’ve been wearing mine every day for a few months now, the only wear is on the clasp. I’m not very careful with it. How tf does yours even have damage on the underside of the case
send it back.
lol send it back
Clearly a polished watch.
That watch should be $3000 less due to the wear and tear already on it. Needs full polish and laser welding.
You were charitable with your description (which I read before looking at photos). I expected a few micro scratches from handling, but this looks much worse than watches I have worn daily for many months. Return it, can't trust a seller who calls that "new/unworn".
WTH. Send it back and send it back with some firm words.
Come on, you don’t even need to ask. Those are clear marks and scratches.
If you bought it “new and unworn” condition, I would send it back, if it was sold as “used” I think you have to eat it.
Mods, pin this post! 😡 I’m just upset
Return that watch and give him the worst review possible. I feel for you
Yeaaaahhh… that’s not a new watch. I imagine someone owned that for a couple weeks and sent it back to them and they’re still trying to sell it as “New”.
My 24 year old Explorer that has lived a life looks newer. Send it back, leave 2 stars.
Holy cow, man. I personally would, but be prepared to fight them on ‘you did it after you picked it up’
Return it and get C24 involved in fixing this deal
Honestly, send it back and start your adventure again. If he’s willing to take it back at no expense, he’s trying to rectify the mistake that shouldn’t have happened.
either get a good amount of discount back or return the watch, shipping paid on seller. What a jackass. Sorry this happen to you when you get excited over new watch, instead getting this used one.

In guitar lingo that watch las a light relic’d finish.
4.3 seems like a crummy rating TBH
Have you had a local watchmaker pop the back off to see if it’s real?
A nice watch should be a celebration. This one will dampen the thought. I had a nice car that was broken into. The damage was fixed but it never was the same. A dark cloud over my excitement. This watch would give me the same feelings. That’s different than buying a watch which is lightly used. That’s part of the character.
Yes send that back, unacceptable
Send it back, message me I’ll direct you to a reputable AD
I had a similar issue from a private seller once. I told him I was displeased but then moved on. I was going to wear it anyways. You can just bring it in after some wear to your local AD and they’ll send it off at time for service for a polish. I think polish is $350-400
I’d never buy anything from a seller with a 4.3 rating. It’s a score that means he isn’t a great guy to do business with. 🙄Just return it.

Send it back and wait for one from Rolex or buy a 90’s/00’s one, the prices are out of control. Looks like an A+ counterfeit. I’d have it inspected
💯 yes
Return it ASAP
Extremely upsetting to see this, my worn watches don’t look this dinged up

This watch is polished, restored. Return it
4.3 rating, you did this to yourself
For that kind of dough I would return it. The ding to the case would be unacceptable to me if the watch was sold as described.
Heck yes
Heck yes. That thing is junk now. I’ll give you $50 For it
I recommend returning and buying from a more reputable seller, 4.7+ as reputable and solid. Maybe it’s 500 euros to a grand more but they will not mislead you
Depending on how you wear it Everyday: no Some days per month or year: you dan
Get your refund man
If it’s a reasonable price for used condition, then keep it. You’re planning on wearing it anyway. Wouldn’t slam the dealer since he’s taking it back without any questions. Or try to negotiate $500 back.
Send it back
Return this, this watch has been polished over and is so far from new… get on moda watch club in Facebook and find a dealer with tons of vouches, if they send you something that isn’t exactly as described they will make the deal refund you no questions asked….
Back it goes if it was me
To the Batcave!
Send that back for the amt of money spent
i am guessing for you to refinish watch to factory look which would include lasering in new metal for dings, deep scratches and any overpolished work all ready done i would think it would run you approximately $1k. i know rolliworks charges $250/hr for laser work plus the polish plus cost of shipping watch back and forth, changing gaskets, water pressure test etc . so at least that in discount plus a bit more because you now have a refinished watch (it will look like brand new) , plus the time , and hassle having to get work done.
OP is like: "hey guys I just bought a brand new car but when I got home I realized it's got 10k miles on it. Should I keep or return"
Oh I’m sending that back asap and leaving a bad review 🤣
Send it back or ask for a partial refund to cover the cost of having it polished and restored to like new condition. Otherwise send it back, that’s not new.
Def a used watch (not a tried on onece) what about the price? If it would be jn a range of a used one you should decide. If ypu get a new one for the money you payed definitely return refund and a review as you mentioned
I'd send it back.
Mine looked worse after the first week I would be fine with it. It is a watch. Not a museum piece.
100% send it back. Make him pay the return shipping.
I wonder what else the seller is lying about. No way I’d accept that. Hopefully you get all your money back.
Name and shame time, bro.
Send it back
Also, every scratch tells a story, unfortunately you’re wearing someone else’s story.
Worn, def not like new, polished and scratched up. Paying over 16k would be the trigger for shipping it right back for me. However…. If you like it and tend to make it your GADA EDC watch…. No need for handling a safe queen now! USE IT!
Send it back…*uck that
Yes send back ! You paid for a new watch!
Send it the fuck back. You paid nearly 17 grand and you need to be over the fucking moon with a watch for that. At best you're underwhelmed. Nah send it back.
Yeah don’t let them get away with that, the more we let stuff like that slide the more it will happen.
Return it immediately, the watch has been heavily used
