I've always been surprised Six Flags didn't clone the crap out of this coaster.

sanaru02

Me too. Rightfully batman clones made it everywhere, but I'm surprised how few wing coasters there actually are overall. Seems like they do well with keeping riders coming back, and the uptime on x-flight repair wise seems like it's been really great.

DontFuckGOPMen

Why? It’s unremarkable and short…

LET PEOPLE HAVE FUN 🗣🗣🗣🗣

DontFuckGOPMen

I was genuinely curious why someone would think cloning it was a smart idea. Seems the six flags execs made the correct choice.

CPGK17

lol no it’s not. It’s longer than Batman

DontFuckGOPMen

Batman does something though. The speed bumps in the parking lot have more forces than a vested B&M.

CPGK17

If you’re this bitter about a roller coaster, I’d highly suggest a new hobby. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cool_Owl7159

X-Flight is one of the more forceful wing coasters... that immelman and helix pull some strong positive gs

a_magumba

I really want to get back to SFGAm, for this and other rides. I love the lineup. Last time I was there was the late 90s.

sanaru02

It's changed so much since then ride wise. Feel like you'll have a blast.

a_magumba

Oh absolutely.

melodrama4ever

don’t understand the hate for this one. i actually enjoy X-Flight vastly more than GateKeeper (which is still fun, just not horribly forceful) and love the theme/color scheme.

intotheairwaves17

Rode it last week and noticed they replaced Mr. T as the announcer, unfortunately.

sanaru02

Whaaaa? What is it now? ATTTENTIONNNN RECRUITSSS

intotheairwaves17

It’s a similar spiel but with some generic sounding ride announcer. Nowhere near as fun!

DokiKimori

Underrated AF Coaster at my home park. If I compare this to Gatekeeper at CP it's not even close. Gatekeeper has the height and speed, but all bark and no bite. It crawls through the inversion after the heyhole and then the worst part is the helix after the mid course brake. I dunno, guess the Wing Coaster just excels in shorter layouts since the train acts like a giant sail and isn't exactly aerodynamic.

Clever-Name-47

X-Flight is certainly more thrilling.  However, I like Gatekeeper better because no other coaster feels quite as much like **flying**.  Between the lake, the parking lot, and the slow, swooping nature of the elements, it is very, very exposed; You end up feeling like you’re **in** the sky. X-Flight is great for its own reasons, and ultimately they’re so different that it’s hard to compare them.  But Gatekeeper does something unique, while X-Flight isn’t *that* different from other thrill rides.

traditional_rich_

Agreed. Really vivid memories of that first drop. Long, drawn out, so close to the lake.

sanaru02

Fuck yes! My comfort coaster for so many years at SFGA. It just has everything I love from a b&m - the roar, wing seats, and a sick layout. Can't believe it's 12 already. Back right seat is such an experience.

JRice92

I love X-Flight! I like it more than Gatekeeper, Wild Eagle, and even Thunderbird!

TomcatTiger503

X Flight is one of my all time favs and I remember it like it was yesterday when it was announced.

YugoslavWeirdo9468

Didn’t get to ride it yet, but I’ll try to when I get the chance

Fun-River-3521

12 years is crazy i remember first going there when the ride was only a year old time flys.

imaguitarhero24

I like the thing but can't figure out why the ops are so garbage. Doesn't seem any more complicated to run than any other ride with OTSR and belt. They also merge flash pass at the bottom of the stairs which can take 15 minutes so it's generally the longest ride I wait for. That's why I don't ride it as much as I'd like.

sanaru02

Had a similar experience last year when chain running it at night. The lines were short and it seemed as if there was no reason for boarding / sending out to take nearly as long as it was. I was pretty confused about the whole thing honestly, so I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one.

TheAnklePickMMA

I would probably like this coaster a lot more if the restraints didn’t punish my collarbone so much.

uhohstinkyhaha

It used to be my favorite as a kid cause it felt big but wasn’t scary riding it. It’s super smooth but man it’s just a nothing burger force wise it’s kinda a snooze fest from what I can remember, even though I enjoyed it when I was younger

Bumblebe5

They could've themed it to Bucky McMacho...
