I was gonna say Fury then get back in line for Fury. I’d probably put afterburn over copperhead though, but to each their own. We got plenty of top coasters to go around.
Yeah Afterburn is a very close second for me, Copperhead is just so much fun. I'm normally not one for tons of loops and corkscrews, but this one has several cool moments packed in.
The wait time for Hagrids kind of kills this 1 2 punch for me but I think they are definitely the best combo of coasters that close to each other of any park I’ve been to. Throw in Forbidden Journey and that is the best corner of any park in the world I think.
How are they going to do that? It seems like it runs as efficiently as it can with a omnimover load. Can they fit more trains on the track than they currently do?
The maintenence building isn't big enough to be able to pull and inspect all trains overnight before operation the next day. So, they often have to do 6/4 and the park doesn't usually open with the ride at full capacity.
They're expanding the maintenance building to allow all 10 trains to be pulled off the track, inspected and then all 10 back on.
Taron is truly a work of art in
every conceivable way. Some may say it might not be the absolute best coaster but heck it's up there for just about everybody who has ridden it and even the detractors admit they can see why it's rated so highly by the general public.
FLY is also another coaster at the same park.....
Zadra and Hyperion is the highest ranking 1-2 punch on my list. But I think the actual *best* 1-2 punch goes to Kings Dominion. I don’t think any two coasters complement each other’s forces better than Twisted Timbers and Project 305.
A little bias here but I have El Toro and Nitro in my personal top 5 so I’m rolling with Great Adventure - the more I grow my credit list, the more I appreciate my home park’s coaster quality.
Was just at Cedar Point for the first time last weekend though and your 1-2 punch is probably #2 for me - what a combo.
El Toro and Nitro is an elite airtime 1-2 punch. I don't think there's a better 1-2 punch for steel/wood airtime anywhere else.
Back seat of both is just pure heaven for me and gives me the biggest hit of dopamine imaginable.
See, I'd flip them. The 1s at each park are Steel Vengeance and Project 305. The 2s are Maverick and Twisted Timbers. At least, in my opinion.
Given that context, Cedar Point is the clear favorite for me.
This is my favorite, too. The rest of KD, save for Dominator, is a bit lackluster, but p305 and TT are both so good. Excited to see what the new coaster there will be like.
Call me strange but grizzly after the gravity group retrack has actually been pretty good as a supporting coaster. Imo it's the 4 in the park, though I'm sure after the wing comes in it drops to 5
The Gravity Group retrack took it from unrideable to solidly fun. They really need to fix the entrance to Grizzly though. It is so hidden most people walk right past it.
I go pretty much 2-3 times a year because I work in that area a lot
They’re great I’m not downing them. I basically only hit those two when I go there anymore. I’m just saying there are some absolutely insane ride options out there that way overshadow these two. Superman is a top tier steel coaster for sure but cyclone is a pretty mid level RMC. Granted their mid level is still incredible.
Skyrush and wildcats revenge. Candymonium is very slept on imo. Later in the day on a hot day it provides the most airtime out of any b&m i've been on besides goliath at SFOG.
Good park overall? Since my kid got tall enough to ride coasters I've taken him to parks every year for his July birthday. This is year 3; previous to this we did 6F Great Adventure and then Cedar Point. We live in western NY.
Tatsu was my first flying coaster, and is one of my favorite all time coasters. The forces you get on the pretzel loop is amazing! Definitely hard to choose between X2 and twisted colossus. For the ride itself I'd give x2 a slight edge, but nothing compares to when you get a duel on twisted colossus. All great coasters though!!
They’re pretty crazy actually. I was “reintroduced” to coasters after not riding any for over a decade by riding these two back to back. My world shattered.
I wouldn't call it the best 1-2 out there, but Mamba and Prowler at Worlds of Fun is probably the most underrated 1-2 out there. Definitely one of my favorites.
Going to Cedar Point for the first time in a few days, but currently I have to give it to Islands of Adventure. The park has an insane 1-2-3 punch in the form of Intamin’s perfection of the Blitz coaster in Velocicoaster, one of the best family coasters ever built in Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and the most intense coaster I’ve ever ridden in The Incredible Hulk
As a European thoosie (kinda, Brexit confuses me), the Obvious ones are Energylandia [Zadra & Hyperion] and Phantasialand [Taron & FLY]
Although shout out to Plopsaland because obviously RTH but Anubis really surprised me. Cracking coaster 👌🤌
Trust me, go to cedar point and those will be a thing of the past for you. I love them as well cuz they are close to home, but I usually go to cedar point at least once a year
A lot of good answers quite a few parks have a fabulous 1-2 punch and that’s great! CP probably has the best 1-4 (if one of them could open) due to the sheer volume of their attractions. Hershey park also had a really good 1-4
Zadra and Hyperion at Energylandia from European only. .. also Hyperion is absolutely the better of the two, unless you have the misfortune to end up on those awful outer seats. Which can easily be avoided if you're clever enough...
A few years ago. I preferred the old ones, as the new ones don't seem to be designed for taller riders. The last time I rode, it felt like I was being smashed in the seat from the shoulder restraints being so tight. I absolutely love the ride, but the lack of comfort from being in the seat is a detracting experience for me.
My favorite 1-2’s from my travels
Velocicoaster + Hulk
Fury + Afterburn (or copperhead? toss a coin)
Time Traveler + Outlaw Run
On any given day any of those 3 could be my favorite
Twisted Colossus + Viper - honorable mention because my last ride was 2016.
It’s harder for me to pick this one because CP isn’t “just” a top 2 park for me. Best 1-2 punch, IMO, is a park like KD where the top 2 are unquestionably a certain pair and then the lineup drops off, not so much a park with a deeper bench. I also think at CP a lot of people might even argue for a different top 2 (me, for example, I like Millie best, and other people who got to ride it might pick TT2 etc).
From those I‘ve been too it is either Europa Park with Voltron and Wodan, Parc Astérix with Toutatis and Tonnerre 2 Zeus or Walibi Belgium with Kondaa and Loup Garou
Uh, uh, uh, skyrush and wildcat? (I haven’t ridden wildcat) uhhhhhh, mako and Gwazi… damn, not in the same park… uhhhhh, Goliath and TC? Nah, they’re only good… not the GOAT. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I got nothing. That is THE best answer
Velocicoaster and Hulk aren't just a great 1-2 punch, they're my 1 and 2 overall. Hagrid's is great for the theming, but the other two coasters make Hagrid's ride experience look mid.
Honorable mentions to The Beast & Dianondback and Leviathan & Behemoth.
Of the parks I've been to, these are my personal favorite two coasters:
Mt. Olympus: Zeus and Hades 360 (layup lol i know)
Six Flags Great Am: Raging Bull and Goliath
Kings Island: Orion and Diamondback
Cedar Point: Maverick and Steel Vengeance
Hershey: Wildcat's Revenge and Skyrush
Hmm.
The raven and the legend
Diamondback and mystic timbers
Reptilian and apple zapple
Fury 325 and ricochet.
Hard choices.
I'm going reptilian and apple zapple
Not only are they a great 1-2 punch. They are literally right next to each other. Are they the best two coasters that are next to each other?
yes
Previously Eejanaika and Do-Dodonpa
This was my answer
Velocicoaster and Hagrid’s is a close battle.
No.
Fury and Copperhead Strike at Carowinds.
Carowinds has a four punch combo if you go clockwise from the entrance. Intimidator, Top Gun, Copperhead, and Fury.
Yeah except every other coaster in the park is awful… and intimidator is mid at best….
You shut your wh*re mouth
I just speak the truth
That’s just your opinion man, and it’s wrong
Tough call between Velocicoaster/Hagrid’s and Skyrush/Wildcat’s
considering these are my two favorite parks its the same situation for me but maybe hulk over hagrids.
The wait time for Hagrids kind of kills this 1 2 punch for me but I think they are definitely the best combo of coasters that close to each other of any park I’ve been to. Throw in Forbidden Journey and that is the best corner of any park in the world I think.
Universal is investing in a huge maintenance/logistics change to hopefully reduce some of the issues with early capacity on Hagrids.
Awesome. So could at least make rope drop more feasible. Since I downgraded my AP to not include early entry it has been impossible.
Yep, trying to get the rope drop rush shuffled through as efficient as possible it seems.
Taron and F.L.Y at Phantasialand
This is correct.
Don’t know how I could forget about this epic duo. But both of them stand as some of the best “full package experiences” in the world
Same here
Taron is truly a work of art in every conceivable way.
They really do pair well together. The most insane positives on earth with some of the most insane airtime around
Wildcats Revenge and Skyrush.
this is the closest option to maverick and steve
That’s my 1
I'd probably say I305 and Twisted Timbers. While I like steel vengance more than timbers, 305 >>> maverick or millie imo
See, I'd flip them. The 1s at each park are Steel Vengeance and Project 305. The 2s are Maverick and Twisted Timbers. At least, in my opinion. Given that context, Cedar Point is the clear favorite for me.
My “second” home park and this is my pick. I like I305 better than Mav or SteVe.
This is my favorite, too. The rest of KD, save for Dominator, is a bit lackluster, but p305 and TT are both so good. Excited to see what the new coaster there will be like.
Call me strange but grizzly after the gravity group retrack has actually been pretty good as a supporting coaster. Imo it's the 4 in the park, though I'm sure after the wing comes in it drops to 5
That's a good point...Grizzly retrack really boosted the fun factor on that ride. It's a solid, old-school wooden.
The Gravity Group retrack took it from unrideable to solidly fun. They really need to fix the entrance to Grizzly though. It is so hidden most people walk right past it.
I love the first half of Grizzly, but that second half is still a tooth cracker.
Outlaw run and Time Traveler
Correct
[удалено]
The one downside is that it’s a hike between the two
Couldn’t be further away and line for superman is an absolute mess Still both amazing rides but nowhere near the best 1/2 out there
[удалено]
I go pretty much 2-3 times a year because I work in that area a lot They’re great I’m not downing them. I basically only hit those two when I go there anymore. I’m just saying there are some absolutely insane ride options out there that way overshadow these two. Superman is a top tier steel coaster for sure but cyclone is a pretty mid level RMC. Granted their mid level is still incredible.
Mystic Timbers and The Beast complement each other to perfection.
I think that should be a trifecta because Racer is a floater machine.
Hell yes!
I miss when Vortex was right on the other side of Beast!
Should’ve gotten Vekoma to give it new trains and retrack it
Too many to pick so I’d say Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, SFNE, and Hershey would be in the running for my favorite
Headed to Hershey in a couple of days. First time. What's the 1-2 punch there?
Skyrush and Wildcat's Revenge. The airtime and laterals between those two is insane.
Skyrush and Wildcat along with Storm Runner, Fahrenheit and Candymonium providing a great top 5 for the park
Love having Hershey as my home park
While not included in this list, Great Bear is...well...a great coaster, and easily a top pick.
Hershey is my favorite park. Caveat is to enjoy it you either need to go on a really hot day where everyone is at the waterpark or buy the flashpass.
Good to know. We're going to be there Monday... High 70s and cloudy... Might need that flashpass
Probably gotta go with Wildcat's Revenge and Skyrush.
Six Flags Magic Mountain with X2 and Twisted Colossus.
I’d say X2 and Tatsu but you’re def not wrong!
I'd say Tatsu and Twisted Colossus but those are amazing too.
Tatsu is an amazing coaster. Is it the best? No, but the pretzel loop may be my favorite moment on any coaster.
I agree with Twisted Colossus and X2… Unfortunately Tatsu wasn’t open the times we flew in.
This would be my choice too.
Twisted Timbers and 305
toro and ka are great
They’re pretty crazy actually. I was “reintroduced” to coasters after not riding any for over a decade by riding these two back to back. My world shattered.
KD is my favorite 1-2 punch. I305 and twisted Timbers compliment each other so well it’s crazy.
Velocicoaster and Hagrid’s at Islands of Adventure
I305 and TT imo
Maverick and steel vengeance both slap so hard
I haven’t even ridden either of these but I feel like Skyrush and Wildcat’s revenge will be my favorite lol
Montu and Iron Gwazi
I wouldn't call it the best 1-2 out there, but Mamba and Prowler at Worlds of Fun is probably the most underrated 1-2 out there. Definitely one of my favorites.
Wildcat’s Revenge and Skyrush
This is it. SFNE with Superman & wicked cyclone is great too
Skyrush, Wildcats Revenge, and Storm Runner is a triple combo
Probably energylandia. El toro is better than anything in Europe that I’ve ridden, but not sure what else is #2 there.
I’d pick Nitro or Kingda Ka personally. Then Jersey Devil and Medusa round out my top 5 at that park.
Going to Cedar Point for the first time in a few days, but currently I have to give it to Islands of Adventure. The park has an insane 1-2-3 punch in the form of Intamin’s perfection of the Blitz coaster in Velocicoaster, one of the best family coasters ever built in Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and the most intense coaster I’ve ever ridden in The Incredible Hulk
> the most intense coaster I’ve ever ridden in The Incredible Hulk I mean it's a great ride but I wouldn't really call it intense...
As a European thoosie (kinda, Brexit confuses me), the Obvious ones are Energylandia [Zadra & Hyperion] and Phantasialand [Taron & FLY] Although shout out to Plopsaland because obviously RTH but Anubis really surprised me. Cracking coaster 👌🤌
Well these are my top 2 so I'm going with these. But SFMM and KD both have 2 coasters in my top 10.
Legend and Voyage at holiday world.
Kingda Ka & El Toro. Even tho both have no second half.
Do-Dodonpa and Eejanaika
Sadly just a one punch now. Rip Do-Dodonpa
Yukon Striker and Leviathan!! My favourites.
Trust me, go to cedar point and those will be a thing of the past for you. I love them as well cuz they are close to home, but I usually go to cedar point at least once a year
Cedar Point is the #1 park I would love to visit.
I went to CW last summer and Yukon Striker is better than Valravn or Griffon. Great coaster.
Lots of people say that. Makes me wanna ride those two to compare.
Oh yeah I will agree Yukon is better than valravn
Nitro and Toro
Wicked cyclone and superman
A lot of good answers quite a few parks have a fabulous 1-2 punch and that’s great! CP probably has the best 1-4 (if one of them could open) due to the sheer volume of their attractions. Hershey park also had a really good 1-4
Just curious, what are your Hershey 1-4? Mine are WCR, Skyrush, Storm Runner, and Fahrenheit.
Storm runner, wildcats revenge, skyrush, and great bear !
I was debating between GB and Fahrenheit. They're both so good!
Velocicoaster and Hagrids
I went opening weekend this year so it is TT2 and Steel Vengeance for me, and add on Maverick and Millie for a crazy top 4. Fix it!
-Maverick and steel vengeance -Iron Gwazi and Montu -Skyrush and wildcats revenge -X2 and Tatsu
Iron Gwazi and Montu definitely hit hard!
Ka and Toro
Tickets and then Fast Pass always seems to knock me out.
Back in the day I used to hop back and forth between the vortex and the beast probably a dozen times each visit
Iron menace , steel force, and possesed at dorney
El Toro and Kingda Ka Right next to each other and both are intensity incarnate
Velocicoaster and Hagrids
Zadra and Hyperion at Energylandia from European only. .. also Hyperion is absolutely the better of the two, unless you have the misfortune to end up on those awful outer seats. Which can easily be avoided if you're clever enough...
I love Iron Rattler + Wonder Woman especially when they're running great
Twisted Colossus & Tatsu
WCR and Skyrush at Hershey.
Force and Vengeance
Out of the parks I've been to I'd say f.l.y and taron
Taron and FLY was super fun
Small shoutout to Toutatis and Oziris
Maverick is such an incredible ride. I only wish the restraints were more comfortable.
The old ones were so bad I didn't ride for years. When was the last time you rode it?
A few years ago. I preferred the old ones, as the new ones don't seem to be designed for taller riders. The last time I rode, it felt like I was being smashed in the seat from the shoulder restraints being so tight. I absolutely love the ride, but the lack of comfort from being in the seat is a detracting experience for me.
Ah gotcha that's a bummer
The one in the photo.
Velocicoaster and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure (I will stand by that name till the end of time it feels so in character with hagrid)
Is there any other answer?
My favorite 1-2’s from my travels Velocicoaster + Hulk Fury + Afterburn (or copperhead? toss a coin) Time Traveler + Outlaw Run On any given day any of those 3 could be my favorite Twisted Colossus + Viper - honorable mention because my last ride was 2016.
That is probably the best 1-2 Punch out there!
X2 and Twisted Colossus is a perfect one two punch
This by far
Maverick and Steel Vengeance for sure
Haven’t been to cedar point but best of where I’ve been has to be Wildcats revenge and skyrush
In the parks ive gone to, Iron Gwazi and Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa have my vote.
Diamondback and the beast at KI or Yukon Striker and Behemoth at Wonderland. Not the same league as Mav and Stevie though
SFA may get no love but seriously Superman and Wild One. The rest of the lineup though…
Voyage and legend 💕
It’s harder for me to pick this one because CP isn’t “just” a top 2 park for me. Best 1-2 punch, IMO, is a park like KD where the top 2 are unquestionably a certain pair and then the lineup drops off, not so much a park with a deeper bench. I also think at CP a lot of people might even argue for a different top 2 (me, for example, I like Millie best, and other people who got to ride it might pick TT2 etc).
Surprised no one has mentioned smiler/nemesis
Phantoms revenge and Steel curtain.......if it's open.....
Six flags New England with wicked cyclone and Superman the ride is pretty darn good
From those I‘ve been too it is either Europa Park with Voltron and Wodan, Parc Astérix with Toutatis and Tonnerre 2 Zeus or Walibi Belgium with Kondaa and Loup Garou
Kärnan + Fluch von Novgorod at Hansa Park. Very underrated 1-2-punch
Twisted Timbers and 305
Thunderhead and mystery mine is a phenomenal one imo. Right next to each other, and both so good in their own ways
Wildcat’s Revenge and Skyrush is insane. Superman and Wicked Cyclone at SFNE is up there too.
In 2026, it will be Expedition Geforce and Mack Xtreme Spinner at Holiday Park
outside of maverick and steve my second favorite one two punch is probably time traveler and outlaw run at silver dollar city
Uh, uh, uh, skyrush and wildcat? (I haven’t ridden wildcat) uhhhhhh, mako and Gwazi… damn, not in the same park… uhhhhh, Goliath and TC? Nah, they’re only good… not the GOAT. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I got nothing. That is THE best answer
Iron gwazi and Cheetah Hunt
Either Maverick and SteVe, or X2 and Twisted Colossus
Zadra and Hyperion at Energylandia(PL) with a nod to FLY and Taron and Phantasialand (GER)
For CP- Maverick and Steel For KI - it’s a tie between both (Mystic and Beast) & (Orion and Flight of Fear).
About a four hour drive away, The Beast and Mystic Timbers!!
Of the parks I've been to, these are my personal favorite two coasters: Mt. Olympus: Zeus and Hades 360 (layup lol i know) Six Flags Great Am: Raging Bull and Goliath Kings Island: Orion and Diamondback Cedar Point: Maverick and Steel Vengeance Hershey: Wildcat's Revenge and Skyrush
Hmm. The raven and the legend Diamondback and mystic timbers Reptilian and apple zapple Fury 325 and ricochet. Hard choices. I'm going reptilian and apple zapple
Diamondback and The Beast are a great one-two with Mystic to make it a phenominal trifecta 200 meters away from.one another.
Lots. At CP definitely these two (although MILF is the obvious other best). At KI Diamondback and Banshee. At Mirabilandia Katun and iSpeed.
Wicked and Colossus The Fire Dragon at Lagoon. I am an exceptionally boring person.
