* Alabama moves to #3 on 247 and #6 on On3 in 2025 with 16 current commits
* Despite the retirement of Nick Saban, camp season offers/commitments have not gone away. Simmons is a guy they saw in spring, really liked him then, and then loved him after a dominate camp performance a few weeks ago. Freddie Roach led the charge here but multiple defensive coaches vouched for his performance. They quickly scheduled an official visit and quickly got a commitment - this staff is showing themselves to be very precise when they are able to be.
* Simmons' Ranking is not wholly a mystery - interior DL can get hidden in private school ball in Mississippi. Regardless, you see a lot to like from the film - big, squat body able of holding the middle but still a capable interior rusher. Very possibly a diamond in the rough here.

DeBoer could recruit the exact same kids as Saban and wind up with fewer stars for his signing class. There are a couple of top tier recruiters (Saban, Kirby) that influence these recruiting services’ evaluation of players. How many three stars became four stars once Saban wanted them?
My understanding is that he played at a 1A school in Mississippi so there are questions of how he’ll handle the jump in competition. He absolutely dominated at that level, but what sold our coaching staff is when we got him in camp and saw him go against other kids going to play college ball. We offered him right after that. He’s shutting his recruitment down it seems so that ranking won’t likely change much but there is hidden gem potential here. Arkansas was apparently very hot on him
