Because I like the combat style the most. Shield walls, tight formations, slingers and pikes are features I love about that time of warfare. I just wish the AI was better

Matterhorne89

The combat is the most varied and allows for so many different army makeups and strategies. Do you go Hellenic with Pikes and cavalry? Or heavy sword infantry supported by javelin men? Flank with elephants when the enemy is least expecting it? So many fun ways to play the game. The siege battles are also the best in Total War. Can use siege towers, tortoise or artillery to get by the walls. As defenders nothing is more satisfying than sallying out some cavalry from the rear gate and surprising the enemy with a charge into their undefended siege equipment and archers! IMO it’s the best Total War game, despite its bugs (which for the most part have been fixed with patches over the years)

I like the time period and strategies. For me, specifically, the global map is the most interesting part of the game

I played rome 1 for about 15 years on a very poor PC. I upgraded my rig and felt like I had to try Rome 2. With DEI, it is the best TW experience there is imo.

Cuz rome is cool. Not much more to it honestly

BADman2169420

Was looking for a time period of rise of Rome. I wish the combat mechanics of Rome 2 were applied to Napoleon. I think Napoleon is more fun to play, but the mechanics are really off putting. I've played over 4 campaigns, and still don't know how naval warfare works, troops always walk instead of running, cavalry gets tired running from the right of the infantry unit to the left - which may be the length of 70 soldiers sholder to shoulder.

I love that it attempts to accurately simulate classical era battle tactics, being a huge history nut.

Alarming_Monk5842

I love all things Roman and I get to invade my home city where irl the Roman walls etc still exist, so it's a full-on immersive experience for me.

Perseide_Pacioli

I just love the time period! Started with Asterix followed by various historic novels de Bello gallo et cetera... So Rome 2 gives me a way to dive into my favourite era and (re) imagine history. (Best total war gameplay wise for me is shogun 2)
