I'm currently finding great comfort in the adidas adizero Boston 12's. Having just completed the London Marathon a little over a week ago this was my go to trainer for all of my long runs this cycle. I have a pretty neutral strike and the lightstrike pro foam in the midsole + energy rods provide great support, cushion and spring to go the distance. I also really love the upper mesh construction that makes them super breathable. Whether I am running in community with adidas Runners NYC or solo, the Boston 12's always give me an extra boost of confidence that I will finish my run strong.

I wasn't expecting [this rip on the side of both shoes](https://imgur.com/gallery/RPeeNo6) to happen at around 350km on my Boston 11s. any idea if this is because of size (very comfy, zero issues so far), lacing, striking (I'm midfoot on average), or anything else I am or I am doing? or is is just bad luck or common?

Just ordered On Cloudrunner Wide, waiting for them to ship to my house - they seem so much more stable and supportive for both my arches and ankle, compared to my old asics lmao

all_city_

Just ordered some Brooks Glycerin Stealthfit 21s, pretty excited for them to arrive!

I went from doing a Hoka Clifton 9 to an OnCloud Cloud Surfer and it was a great change for me. My posture improved and my form has also improved. I’m less sore and recover easier with these shoes. OnClouds are amazing! I still use my Hokas, I enjoy them for shorter distances.

Anomaly_20

Care to elaborate further on why the Hokas were not working and the On shoes are? I currently use Saucony Triumph 19s and am strongly considering both HOKA and On for my next pair. I fully intend to deep dive some reviews before making a decision but I’m wondering what the mechanical reasons may be for your change in posture and improved form. Either way, appreciate what you already shared!

Currently wearing the Diadora Atomo V7000 and like them. Although I am not the most aggressive runner and just building my strength back up after some foot issues. But so far I really enjoy the Diadoras.

Two questions- is there a great place to find running shoes cheaper than the mainstream stores? And two, how do I get my husband to understand that I do need to change out my shoes fairly often so I don't mess up my feet/legs? He says all the recommendations are marketing ploys. :/

Dramatic-Ad2848

Just check r/runningshoegeeks . People will post deals from time to time

Dolomitic88

If you have a Sierra Trading Post nearby or know your size for online check them out. In-store I've bought Saucony and Altra shoes for $40-70 a pair

BottleCoffee

Last season and outlet stores I guess. There's stores that generally sell old or clearance models for cheaper.

1. Not that I know of, however I often buy old generation shoes and/or the colours that have been reduced because they’re a bit ugly / impracticable. Currently i’m sporting a white pair throughout winter because they were half price in november. 2. The shape and padding of the shoe is made to support your feet and reduce risk of injury. Those two things will naturally reduce with wear, so your risk of injury increases. Also, your husband shouldn’t have to understand something to accept it.

Purser1

My current love - Hoka Clifton 9. I was using a Nike (argh - forgot its name) and before that, ASICS Kayano, but moved to the Hokas after hearing about it. I was reluctant, but love them! First time I ran in them, it was completely comfortable and didn’t need to break them in (did a 6 miler). I have a bad bunion on my right foot, but even that was quieted.

glASS_BALLS

Been running for two weeks in Altra Lone Peak 8’s. So far, the big lesson I’ve learned is to really tie these buggers on tight, otherwise my foot slips about :)

Reasonable_Passion_3

I have not found a shoe that I’ve liked ever since the NB 1400v6 and they have been discontinued sadly cause I’ve used them since the 1st version. Does anyone know a comparable shoe???

salilreddit

Don't know about 1400, but I'm very satisfied with NB1080. I think v12 or v13 may be the current version.

Reasonable_Passion_3

Those seem to be the popular choice now I’ll maybe have to try but the 1400 was much more a racing flat maybe?

Solmote

Does anyone know when the Boston 13 will be released?

Dramatic-Ad2848

Doubt we will see them until late 2024/early 2025. Would have heard something by now if they were gonna come out mid 2024

I have a question about road racing shoes. I just got back into running after a hiatus of a few years and have signed up for an October 10k. When I raced before I just wore my favorite shoes from the training rotation. Is there any benefit to using shoes that say they are geared for races? Just curious.

Solmote

>Is there any benefit to using shoes that say they are geared for races? Not if you are a slow runner.

PencilsDown4357

Okay cool. I’m still working on an aerobic base and am going into this with a different nutrition strategy too. Time will tell if I’m fast because last time around I was not.

Solmote

What shoes are you currently running in?

PencilsDown4357

I have 2 pair so I can alternate them. ASICS GT-2000 12 and Altra FWD Experience

Solmote

I would recommend the Adidas Adios 7. It is not super expensive, but still fast. Here is an overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ePTtV-YGFM.

Any have experience with both the Saucony Endo Speed 2 and the Pro 3? Was planning on running a marathon this weekend in the Speed 2s and then Saucony had a deal on a pair of Pro 3s that had a dye issue. I should be getting those today. Aside from the "nothing new on race day" schtick, anyone have feedback on how similar/different the shoes are?
