It's been an ongoing joke recently that the rain has been only materializing on the weekends lately. I imagine that's what he's complaining about. Weekdays have been beautiful and sunny, but we're all stuck inside working. Except for this guy out on the Starbucks patio apparently.

featheredsnake

I went to the beach with my daughter this Sunday and it was good. After living in Michigan for 15 years, I chuckle when people here complain about the weather.

Traditional-Neck7778

I wanted to go Saturday and nope, it was too cold. Yeah, we are spolied

pimppapy

To be honest, I don’t remember the weather being bi-polar like this in the 90’s. And I can count on one hand all the times, back then, that direct sunlight used to hurt this much and that quickly. It’s been very inconsistent over the last decade. It’s still definitely better than most other places though.

Friendly_Age9160

Actually on a serious note it’s weird you mentioned the sun because I’m 42, have lived here my whole life, and am not fair skinned. I get tan very very quickly and I can’t remember the last time the sun felt like this. I’ve been feeling like I’m going crazy. I told my husband the sun feels “sunnier” lol. It really has been noticeable.

Friendly_Age9160

Yes. We Send this guy home. Straight to Minnesota. Right away. No tacos for you.

County_Mouse_5222

I'm thinking about moving to Michigan. Grew up partly in the midwest so I already know what it's like, but I'm seriously debating whether or not to go through with it. I've got family there, but it'll be no good if I'm sick the whole time.

timmojo

Hey it turns out there's [some science](https://gizmodo.com/this-is-why-it-always-rains-on-weekends-1540233798) behind the observation that it mostly rains on the weekends!

jcornman24

Even that's not entirely accurate, this weekend was perfect, Maybe it needed to be a bit warmer for beach weather, but other than that, it was beautiful, clouds kept it cool not too hot, and it only really rained after it got dark

HorsePockets

It's what happened the last 2 springs as well

reality_raven

With his dog and gf. On a BEAUTIFUL spring day.

ice_cold_canuck

https://www.reddit.com/r/sandiego/comments/1c3jnnm/mayjune_gloom_marine_layer/ This post from a couple days ago really amused me. The person asked if June Gloom was actually a real thing and they have even lived in SD for 2 years.

reality_raven

I find it amusing people are this invested in the weather and live in SD, and have very, very little to complain about. Complain that chips cost almost $5 now and gas is $5/gallon and a 400 square foot studio costs $8000/month. Can you afford to even go outside?

TheCryptocrat

Don't forget about highest electricity prices in the country

Traditional-Neck7778

On the bright side, my bean, lentil and rice meals are on point. . .you way to keep grocery bill under 1k

lollykopter

It’s a fair question. You can’t really determine patterns off of only 2 years of observations.

Wild_Cazoo

People think June gloom last year was normal. Last year and even this year has been more foggy than usual. I hate having this conversation with people because they haven't lived here for that long. Source: I've lived in San Diego for 26 years.

shoob36

Depends on where they live. The gloom doesn’t really affect areas like Poway as it does the coastal regions. They may just be inland.

verbatum213

A lot of people from out of town/state think it’s literally “always sunny in San Diego”. Especially the people who come for Spring Break and realize it’s probably one of our most gloomiest times of the year. I’ve seen people complain about this for decades. It will never change.

thescuderia07

Jokes on them. It's always sunny in Philadelphia. They have a long running docuseries on it and everything.

LargeMarge-sentme

MTV did spring break in Mission Beach back in the 90s. Only once. It was cold and gloomy the entire time.

Efficient-Tart8880

Oohhh he’s just gonna LOVE June then 😂😂He can just go back to where he came from then!

Hellosunshine83

I really wish people like this would leave. A lot of us live here not for the weather but have real reasons to want to be here (school, work, family, etc). Im tired of people moving here “just for the weather” then get annoyed when they realize were not Hawaii. Cant quite understand the logic.

scott9ssd

I’m grateful every single day here. If im having a bad day, i go to my weather app and check the weather in Michigan, always puts a smile on my face. I get it, it HAS been more rainy this year, but I’ll take it!!! I mean, 70 in February, come on!

NotAnExpertHowever

Exactly. I mean the rain means I have a pile of weeds in my yard but some of them have pretty little purple flowers. And for some reason, I also have three California poppies, so I’m a happy girl. Only wished I’d already planted my tomatoes so they’d be growing already. I’m happy in this weather, either way. https://preview.redd.it/tgdowrc2fyuc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75d3616aa9ab93887bb3c326b3e6f433183965c8

Lt-shorts

So you're complaining about the complainer

notyouisme999

Complaining about other people complaining is not acceptable. Complaining about what other people complain is acceptable. Similar but not the same.

cixelsyd

“Just moved here” is way too soon to be complaining about the weather. I don’t know if he’ll make it here.

Obvious_Home_4538

But the weather on the weekends *has* been crappy! Gorgeous day today, though.

reality_raven

Sunday was beautiful.

TypeGreen51

Reminds me of a Lewis Black bit: The easiest job in the world is the weatherman in San Diego, California.. What's the weather going to be like today Lou? Well... ah.... it's gonna be nice.

Highwaystar541

When the forecast says 70% chance of rain, I hear 30% chance of sunshine.  I left SD(I come back a lot) because I lived out in East county where it’s hotter. I tell people 40 straight years of summer gets to you. I want some dam seasons.

sweetmercy

Coming from places with four very distinct seasons, I can see where people would find near constant sunshine and blue skies monotonous at times.

That_Helicopter_8014

I tell my family from Portland that they may miss the sun there, but here it shines just to spite you. 😀😂

fivegoldrings

I thought this way when I was younger, and then I moved to NYC for 10 years. Now I *love* our endless summer. I will never leave again lol.

Longjumping-Grape-40

Okay, okay…but what about…tomorrow’s weather?

thatittybittyTing

No way! Agree with him and tell him to move to Arizona.

velveteenlafs

This is the way

OffRoadPyrate

Wait until May gray and June gloom hit.

Arse_hull

I love that autumn is the hottest season in SD. I think those Santa Anas feel so nice for the short time they are here. By the time they're gone, I'm glad they're gone though.

fivegoldrings

Me too. Summer is my favorite season and I love that I get summer weather basically April - September. When I moved to the northeast for a bit, the barely 3 month long summer drove me nuts.

loveschocolatelots

Bunch of babies. 👶 Even when it rains here the sun still comes out at some point in the day 🤪

CSPs-for-income

tbf this winter and ealry spring has been cold. don't have recency bias on how cold it has been.

jcornman24

The last couple months have been perfect weather, I dunno what y'all expect? 75 in February and March is too hot, the mid 60s to high 50s during the day isn't cold at all

[deleted]

Three types of comments here: 1. I agree with OP. 2. Why are you complaining about someone complaining? 3. GeT oUt of HeRe & gO BaCk to WhErE yOu CaMe FrOm!

GreenRabite

He ain't wrong. It been like clockwork every wknd

badfaced

I work construction, so it's a blessing and a curse to be out in the open sky 70% of the time. I nearly had trench foot from how wet & muddy jobsite conditions have been these past few months. Yet I see all our reservoirs over capacity and our wilds lush and green and think, "oh yeah I live in paradise 90% of the year" lmao My boss is from Ohio and anytime I ask if he ever misses cleveland. He always gives a very loud and firm NO, and he loves his family over there, so it's not the people he doesn't miss 🤣😅 today I saw the snowcapped mountains of Mt baldy from Newport Beach. Constant reminders of how amazing it is to live in this state, cheers.

wicodly

Pointless post of the day

reality_raven

Except if I posted that I was sad it was cloudy on weekend this post would have 1.5k likes.

dayzkohl

Maybe just don't post anything.

reality_raven

That’s not happening. LOL

iwantsdback

Transplants don't understand what they're getting. This isn't Florida or Hawaii. Pretty amusing, honestly. Maybe homeboy can f**k back off to whatever large city he came from?

Arse_hull

There should be an automod that responds to every comment with the word transplant to make fun of it. I'm sorry to hear you never expanded your horizons and are a bitter old kook who's associated the loss of the freedom of your youth with the fact that cities change over time. Localism is monkey brain bullshit. This is coming from 5 generations in SD, not that that fact matter to anyone but you.

HorsePockets

Lol guys name is "I want SD back". Everyone longs for their youth. My small hometown in the Midwest blew the fuck up and sucks now too. Too much traffic, expensive, etc. It's what happens.

iwantsdback

Haha nice troll. Sure thing dude.

ZealousidealRabbit76

K.

rousedower

My friend and his wife came out to visit a few weekends ago from Miami. His wife wasn't impressed with the weekend weather lol.

sbonedocd

I heard a guy in my office today say how his body doesn’t handle the cold we’ve been having recently

albafreetime

I love the clouds/rain, even when it's in 'excess' here. It's nice to escape the desert like dryness for as long as we can at the start of the year, because we know we're guatenteed an absolute shed load of sunshine for the next 6 months. I love it when people complain here about the weather, it makes me laugh to my core to think of them going somewhere that has 4 seasons, like where I'm from. Enjoy May Gray and June Gloom everyone! Please complain to me when it's too hot July onwards! Much appreciated

xenaena

He can move back to where he came from :)

tipsymcstaggerz

Maybe, just maybe, he'll move somewhere else.

reality_raven

Hopefully. Kick rocks Brah!

Uhtred_McUhtredson

Just wait until he learns about May Gray and June Gloom

sunflowerseedin

Fuck that guy send him back to wherever he came from

HoneyBiscuitBear

He can move RIGHT THE FUCK BACK where he came from then. Leave all this horrendous weather for the rest of us poor saps. What a jackal.

reality_raven

This is the companion thought I was seeking.

HoneyBiscuitBear

Damn straight. I’m with ya✌🏼☮️✌🏼

BirdObjective2459

If it’s one thing worse than someone complaining about the weather, it’s someone who’s complaining about someone complaining about the weather.

Arse_hull

I'm just here to complain anonymously on the internet because it's the only method of self soothing that works for me.

CynicalOne_313

When I lived in San Diego, I loved the weather. Dry heat, summer wasn't oppressive, I just had to pay attention when it was fire season. A lot of people have to have something to complain about *shrugs*.

FormlessFlesh

I complain about the weather here because I wish it rained more. This season has been bliss for me. I would like more, but not at the expense of others here having issues with flooding. Also, I looked at the thermometer the other day. Outside temp said 74, but it was "too hot" for me haha.

neruaL555

Yes. Love the rain!

reality_raven

I too love the rain, but this year I did lose a back door to water damage and mushrooms grew from it!

cmlambert89

I used to work at a hotel and someone once asked me for their money back because it wasn’t sunny. I wish I was joking.

reality_raven

I literally travel constantly and have never been mad at a city I visited for having weather, LOL.

Tizo30

People will always complain about the weather. Get over it.

Recent_Opportunity78

Pretty much has for months. My wife took last Tuesday off so we could actually enjoy a sunny day together at the beach instead of cloud and rain that had plagued basically every weekend for seems like months now. The weather here has not been great but better than last winter and spring, that’s for sure. With that said you’ll never hear me actively complain about it, I leave that to San Diego Lifers. Never heard people moan about 70 degree days being too hot until I moved here. A few degrees to one side and you’ll hear nothing but non stop bitching. Rain, I get it, it sucks and so does neverending cloud cover, but 70 degrees is “Too hot”. LOL. Clowns

Noe_Comment

I was born and raised here myself. I dont think I've ever heard anyone originally from here say that 70° is too hot?... Maybe 80, but I rarely even hear that. It's not very humid here, so the heat isn't bad.

Recent_Opportunity78

Well you haven’t so my experience is null and void I suppose. I r heard it PLENTY

antithetic_koala

Bro just moved here and is already a veteran. Once you live here long enough you're gonna find something to complain about

Arse_hull

I complain about SD nostalgia a lot. Like the 'it was better back in the day' crowd. Things change, some is better some is worse. Just because life was easier when we were younger doesn't mean we can just blame the fact that the city has changed. Easy ticket to being bitter and old.

Candid_Development44

Seems to be a common gripe. Just heard a homeless guy complaining outside an Einsteins that “…it’s supposed to be 75 and sunny—beach weather. But it’s like Siberia here. I don’t want to live in Siberia.”

HorsePockets

Real talk. 62 and cloudy here feels like 40-45 in the Midwest. The humidity off the water tears through your soul. Mix in all the rain for 6 months... I get it.

reality_raven

Yes but he was outside in 71 and working!! And complaining! What a bitch!

wgbeethree

I find that just about everyone has the weather here wrong in their heads. Almost everyone thinks it's "summer" all the time. It's not. It's "nice" all the time.

reality_raven

I think you just hit that nail directly on the head.

WuTangClams

sure weekends have been a little sucky lately but i don't know how a person can complain about SD weather in general with a straight face.

reality_raven

THANK YOU!

fivegoldrings

Technically March/April are rainy seasons pretty much anywhere. I mean I know it has been unseasonably rainy but I'm always thankful when it rains in San Diego. For as long as I can remember there has always been a drought - pretty much since the day I was born. If it rains all summer, then I can complain. 😆

reality_raven

LOL, what does that mean?

scubasteve_24

*Hears someone complaining about the weather on “the weekends” *Calls them a twat for the weather during the week Noted.

reality_raven

Was it you? I’m sorry. I mean in general it’s twatty to complain about SD weather.

abel_figgy

Sunday was perfect tho lol

reality_raven

It was!! That’s what I mean! Bunch of babies.

That_Helicopter_8014

Probably moved from Portland, too. 😀

[deleted]

reality_raven

Right? That was my other thought, that you can still go to the beach and enjoy it when cloudy, or even raining. How awesome is it a beach is there?

R1pp3R23

“Entitled Twats”- What is a band of uppity Karen’s for 1000 Alex?

Separate_Cherry_912

i would have told him he’s right and that he should go back to wherever tf he came from

crazybrah

they wonder why we fucking hate transplants.

Arse_hull

tRaNsPlAnTs

jakeordie

wait 'til he finds out about graypril, no blue sky july, and remember remember shitty weather september

ssps

I complain about the weather in San Diego. It’s boring. Same every day. I want spring, fall, summer, and winter. Maybe occasional rain?

[deleted]

Go away then and leave the sunshine to those of us who appreciate it. Seasons are overrated after a couple of cycles ANYWAY. (mostly joking, btw)

ssps

I did. Moved to north California.    I’m not talking about scorching summers and bone chilling winters.  Everything in moderation.   E.g.  I like rain but will not move to WA — because that’s too much.

tianavitoli

I heard cereal was a great destination, if you don't like the weather in San Diego

AffectionateDeer7746

Tell me you're not from San Diego without telling me.

County_Mouse_5222

I've lived in California on and off for about 20 years now and have seen lots of rainy days but nothing like the past few years in San Diego. I am asthmatic and my lungs hurt now.

reality_raven

I moved here in 1999 and it rained for MONTHS. We used to have monsoon seasons.

County_Mouse_5222

I didn't know that. Wasn't living here in '99 and never really thought it was so rainy and gloomy for much of the spring months before moving here. I lived in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara County for most of my time in CA. San Diego is just very different in my opinion. Now I know why so many people here wear hoodies. Guess I need to get more of those and get used to it.

reality_raven

Hoodies are life. But I had to wear two and a jacket in Japan bc I don’t know what a real coat is. LOL

County_Mouse_5222

That's actually a good way to go about it. Put on or pull off what you need or don't need.

Available_Goal_5207

San Diego has hit a HIGH of 70 Degrees or higher 21 out of the last 139 Days (Since December 1, 2023) Source: www.wunderground.com/history/monthly That’s only 15% of the time! There are two issues: 1. People who live there (or anywhere in SoCal) always say it’s in the 70s warm and Sunny. That’s not the truth. 2. The media publicizes California weather as Beach/Pool/Boat weather - and for most of the year - It’s not. I lived in the South Bay, Orange County and San Diego for over 5 years. Moved to South Florida and it is 100 percent Beach/Pool/Boat weather here. There are lots of Amazing things about San Diego. But other than the beautiful months of July-October the weather is not what it is portrayed to be.

LurkerByNatureGT

This just in: San Diego is not immune to having cooler weather in the *rainy season*.

reality_raven

And yet, that weather is better than the majority of the country and clearly CA is better than FL, respectfully.

IntenseWonton

We need to shame this San Diego shamer!

wescoe23

Complaining about that guy is worse

Historical-Suit7731

Chill out

reality_raven

You first.
