Absolutely a scam. Probably got your address from a data leak. FedEx doesn’t just reach out and say hello, then wait for you to ask who they are before telling you they’re FedEx.

SavathunsWitness

I've actually had a FedEx driver text me once and let me know that they would deliver my package the next day, since they missed it when doing the delivery.

VitalikVanBuuren

But in your case I have to imagine the first message provided all the detail upfront versus a back and forth with no questions answered.

SavathunsWitness

Yeah that is true

ahorsewhithnoname

That’s a cultural thing I think. I work with a lot of indian colleagues (outsourced IT) and most of them just send a "Hello" and refuse to state their request without me sending a "Hi" back. There is even a special website for this: https://nohello.net/

Spongebob_Squareish

Can’t say I’ve ever met a cultural Indian named Steven though. Sounds just like a scam for this guy

MadonatorxD

Hello. My name is Steven, and I am a cultural Indian.

MadonatorxD

Should have just said hello and waited for your response to say the rest of the message, but decided to save both of us some time.

MadonatorxD

Lol, I didn't pay attention to it, yes. We are taught to do it. I was told to do it too. Why? I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE. Lmao. It's so funny looking back at it.

cromwell515

100% I work with many Indian colleagues. My boss is also Indian, and he will usually do this. The annoying thing though is he’ll say hello, I’ll reply back, then not hear from him for like a half hour haha

Lazy_Ad_5370

This

Flat-Strain7538

When in doubt, look up the company’s number online and contact them that way. They’ll have the info you need to see if the tester/caller is legit or not.

Pika_DJ

Yea this is my default for any email or message regardless of if I trust

IsisTio

Ask yourself this simple question: Why does Steven from fed ex have your personal telephone number?

corona-lime-us

It’s probably on the label of the box that was shipped to him. Very routine for cell phones to be on the label to help delivery drivers complete deliveries in apartments and gated communities. They’ve been working for years to get the data off the label but still accessible by the driver. That may be what the “run sheet” does.

ShockinglyMilgram

Especially FedEx. They've called me for some deliveries. I've never gotten a text.

Glock472

Scam or Steven’s trying to hook up

[deleted]

He’s got a big package for you

bananasfoyoass

He’s going to drop it off at the back door

Easy-Distance1218

My ex works for FedEx, and she always would tell me that they can easily get your information because their database is so transparent. So, if you 15 years ago gave them your number, they would still have it on file, or if you signed up for text messages about any package, it's on file. They could use those numbers if they can't deliver a package, but most time they wouldn't bother and just mark the package undeliverable and move on. But I agree with the concensus, and I would call your local office to verify.

CzarNicoloff

As a former FedEx driver…I would NEVER text a customer . So yes, a scam 😂

EccentricDyslexic

Scam

MaAreYouOnUppers

Definitely feels like a scam. Obviously don’t give any personal info out or confirm any personal info, just call fedex if you ordered something and talk to them directly.

Pawly519

Report it to the authorities if they know your name and address and have your phone number. Also call FedEx and report it. Companies also typically require employees to follow brand standards so I doubt they’d be ok knowing their staff are writing “fed ex” instead of “FedEx”

8thSt

I can assure you, FedEx doesn’t give a shit about your package, a FedEx driver doesn’t give a fuck about you, and neither are going to send you a personalized text ever. And that is your lesson: ask yourself “would this company go one extra step to provide its customers service?” The answer is going to be NO.

CipherTheLord

Apparently the OP isn’t waiting for any package so there is his automatic answer. FedEx drivers are way too busy to worry about just one package from some random guy as you said they don’t give a crap about.

milkshake-please

It‘s weird. But what does he want? Are you expecting a package? Maybe keep asking but don’t reveal any futher Information (and don’t send them any money obviously).

Fine-Leather-Jackets

I don't think FedEx would text you like this, but FedEx Ground is contracted out. So, could be just some unprofessional ground driver. Do you have a package coming in? Did you include your phone number as a contact for the delivery? Just don't give out any personal information and you'll be fine.

alyalaylaayla

Nope. Not waiting for any package

Im_done_with_sergio

It’s a scam. Don’t give them any info. Just ignore them

TappmanC

Did you order anything that will be delivered by fed ex? It looks sus AF but Fed Ex consists entirely of franchises so I wouldn’t be shocked to learn that where you live texting “did you get the note we left” is standard practice. Looks like a scam though

NurkleTurkey

Yeah they always give excuses to get back to you. "I'm meeting with clients" or BS like that.

EccentricDyslexic

Scam

missdui

Is it a local phone number?

alyalaylaayla

No is not

Broad_Ad_3612

My husband works for FedEx and uses his personal phone to text or call customers for deliveries. However, he said this text message sounds like a scam by the way the driver was texting

Dry-Candle-5916

Call FedEx 😅

chocolate-wyngz

I live in a really rural area and my driveway isn’t accessible with their trucks, so my FedEx driver texts me to let me know when he’s dropping something off on the road nearby. He had to ask me for my number in person though.

Kitchen-Emotion-5767

Call Fedex.

edwadokun

If you have to ask, it's a scam. why would any fedex personnel personally text you... cmon

Solidus-S-

do you really think a fed ex drivers gives fuck about a note so much they are willing to text to you over it

GerfTheSherff

Scam. Hardly anyone can read in Hollister. No one would leave a note.

InfiniteCharacters

They can ride a fucking dirt bike though like god intended.

mynameishush

Hahhhhhh I know of Hollister.

Goldytrill

FedEx not iMessaging you gang I promise 😂😂😂

Jolly_Conflict

Wrong sub You need r/Scams The current sub is for wasting scammers time & laughing about it. See: rule 1 of this sub

olderandnowiser1492

Scam

CipherTheLord

Yeah, it is a scam. FedEx would never do this, they can take pictures of your package but they never text, way too busy to worry about just one package. They might call you though, but that would be if they are nice and don’t have a lot of packages left.

MothParasiteIV

Looks likes a scam it's a scam

Reasonable_Grope

If you have to ask. It's a scam. This is not business applicable behaviour. It's either fake with stolen data or this guy is legit trying to fish you while at work. Both are not healthy for you. Block and move on.

brettscharff

Duh. 🙄 lol

elizco

Lol “and?”

Specific_Event5325

As a former FedEx delivery driver, WTF do those moron's think saying FedEx is going to do? FedEx is a shipper, THAT IS IT! It seems like you cannot fix "Stupid" but these scams I have been reading about that mention "FedEx" are truly the work of massively dumb and ignorant turds! FedEx cannot and will not make anything more valid. Nonsense.

NickSicilianu

Yeap! Block and move on

BasicPersonality9258

Just go to fedex and ask them is there is any package fir your name

SomeRagingGamer

Anytime you get a text about a package or delivery, it’s a scam. Fed ex has either sold your information, or there was a data leak. They’ll leave a note on your door. They’re not going to call or text you.

58mint

Some actually will. It's rare, though.

Techie4evr

I dunno, could be legit. Not a "My Dear" or an "ok" in site.

Maleficent-Peanut-26

I have had a FedEx guy text me to see if I was now home and come back to deliver a package that needed to be signed for. I thought it was a scam at first too, it wasn’t.

58mint

I wish FedEx and ups always did that for signature required orders. Would make everyone life's easier.

SerenityViolet

It's definitely getting harder to tell with these mail scams. The main carrier here now lists packages on their website, so you can check that. They have my phone number, email address and address, so they can easily match it. It's more problematic if it's another company. To complicate matters, I was recently chastised by a mail person when they delivered a package because apparently there was a mistake in the address and I didn't respond to their texts. Edited.
