Mine does this every time we come in from outside. I feel like he does it to make himself sound big. No clue though our dogs are weird.

Honestly Schnauzers just love to make grunting, growling noises honestly. Like my boy makes noises when tired, when excited so don't worry.

My boy makes those noises in his sleep!

Ours huffs and puffs and grunts and snorts and farts. She’s got to be top dog in every situation. She’ll knock over our old English sheep dog just bc she can! She’s such a bulldozer

Seek veterinarian help immediately something is terribly wrong here, your schnauzer should be snorting AT LEAST twice as much!!!

I have an app that names bird sounds - if I'm recording when my dog makes this sound, the app thinks there's a great heron in my yard 😂😂

Both of my schnauzers do it all the time specially when I take them outside .

One of mine of very vocal and the other is pretty much silent The vocal one gets louder by day (he’s 15 now)

My schnauzer is king of making soooo many noises like this lol.

Our puppy huffs and puffs like that when she gets excited, when she wants to play, when it's time for bed, in the middle of the night.... lol To me it's just her happy excited sound

Most definitely normal! My miniature will do this when playing with him or when he’s in a playful mood but definitely is completely normal. Nothing to worry about!!

Both of mine do this. One of them especially when she jumps. She has a distinct "snort" that she only does when she jumps, but in total there are probably a dozen different snorts or grunts for different occasions.

Gracie snorts when she is excited and her only barking is when a person or car is close to our house or a neighbors dog is barking and she has to chime in lol otherwise she is so quiet !! 🤫

Ours only bark when they hear or see something outside, which is... frequent, since we live near a busy street. Otherwise they "chat" sometimes with a series of Roo's, and make a bunch of other sounds when they're excited and want to play.

Yes this is completely normal. Money makes the exact same noises going up the steps. He's exerting his dominance over his freshly patrolled domain.

My dog has slightly shorter legs than yours, but I always carry him on stairs - it's a LOT of work for them and tough on the joints.

My used to do this on his way to his guard post (the window) in the house I lived in. Really any time he sensed a stranger (or a dog) passing by 😅

Mine does that when she smells something or hears something that's got her over-stimulated. No big deal and nothing at all wrong with her lol just over-excited.
