Honestly the carpeted table background is one of the largest creative leaps in the gaming YouTube spaces. It really invokes the feeling of people looking at their games sitting on the floor as a kid. I've even seen Antdude and some other YouTubers copy this format.
Scott's Stash is doing an insane amount of numbers for being his second channel, and the videos he makes there can be made easier and with less overhead than writing an entire STW episode, so it was obvious why he's putting so much effort into it.
Ye, I feel like in normal Scott the Woz videos Scott feels like he has to one-up himself in stories, gags, and jokes, but sometimes I just want to hear what Scott thinks and humor comes naturally to him so it's not missing un Scott's Stash. A lot of Scott's Stash videos say the same things a Scott the Woz video would but with less editing and screams.
I also like how he still does the same sort of format for jokes that he would do in full Scott The Woz episodes, it shows that he still doesn't want to sacrifice quality in something that he's able to make faster than the full episodes
I love a lot of the Ramblers on Stash because they’ve got this “archival” feel to them. Like yeah, he’s not technically literate enough to get some of the harder-to-use devices to work, but I think the sheer amount of knowledge he has regarding not only what a lot of these things were, how they were perceived and generally gaming culture throughout the ages is really damn important.
I love Scott The Woz for organised episodic overviews of topics and the occasional character driven plot points and sketches. But I also love how Scott’s Stash is just this huge pile of knowledge (and it’s not like Scott claims to know everything. He admits when he doesn’t or just plain fucks up.)
Idk man. I just think Scott is a huge asset to video game preservation as a whole. Not only because of his collection but the sheer amount of *knowledge* he has. We are so damn lucky he has a platform to share everything he knows
I always assumed it was a voiceover. Just have a camera on a stand facing down and lay there with a cartridge in your hand or something. Makes sense enough though.
When he originally did this format, it was at the wall slant location, which was his parent's home, so it was probably easier to record the takes just there on the floor than do VO. He created this setup specifically to maintain consistency after moving out.
People pick up on differences between VO and on-set recording, and considering how long Scott himself has been doing this kind of work, I'm sure just knowing there IS a difference in how he does it between eras would be enough to bother him. Dude's dedicated to his craft.
Flatly? I don't think so? I think any position for an extended period would wear on you. I was more imagining the torso on chair position, as that's how I used to read.
Honestly I'mmore impressed in the amount of work he did to keep his sets consistent even after he moved. He like brought everything he set up mini sets at his new house. He has his whole f****** table here just for shooting floor shots. That's so much work but I love it!
As someone with OCD and not realizing how nasty the carpet is until I got older, I'm honestly a little relieved Scott isn't filming his personal collection on the actual floor. Still plenty of other questionable moments I can only assume is an extra copy of a rare game or system he didn't really destroy.
I mean if the tables that size and the carpets that size then cutting the carpet is probably more trouble than it's worth for something people don't see anyway. The carpet being that size lets it hang off the edge and less likely to slide off too
Other people: "Yes, that is an interresting method. I did not consider that. How humorous".
Me: "WHY IS IT SO BIG?! HE ONLY NEEDED TO COVER A QUARTER OF THE DESK TOP! THINK OF THE MONEY!"
I was really saddened by this too cause I always thought it meant Scott had the same carpet in his house as I did. Cause it is literally the exact same carpet that’s in my living room.
Hey, how's it goin? Welcome back to another episode of Boundary Break! the long-running series where we BASICALLY take a camera anywhere we want, to try and find secrets and discoveries in some of our favorite games.
As it turns out, the carpet inspection cutscenes in ScottTheWoz: Online aren't pre-rendered, and are instead done as dynamic cutscenes. Sorry to break the illusion but the carpet inspections are surprisingly NOT rendered on the actual carpet inside Scott's house. It instead takes place under this odd contraption in a room that is inaccessible by the player. How bout that?
Gonna be honest, I kinda assumed this was the setup. He seems like someone that wouldn't want his real games and stuff sitting on a potentially dirty floor.

I genuinely enjoy Scott’s Stash more than Scott the Woz sometimes because of the genuineness and comfortableness(?) of it.

i sleep to scott stash lol
same!
woz asmr
It also reminds me of dankpods/ashens too
I also like how he still does the same sort of format for jokes that he would do in full Scott The Woz episodes, it shows that he still doesn't want to sacrifice quality in something that he's able to make faster than the full episodes

Genuinely genius. He saved his back some ache.
Does laying on the floor hurt your back?
With how easily he moves his hands and how clear his voice is, he'd have to be sitting at a really weird angle if he was actaully on the ground
I always assumed it was a voiceover. Just have a camera on a stand facing down and lay there with a cartridge in your hand or something. Makes sense enough though.
Spend several hours filming multiple takes of the same scenes over and over again while on your knees and bent hunched over
I mean i would just lay there with my hands out, film it once or twice, and do a voiceover.

He is. I swear it sounds like a VO when he does these, and it only sounds on set(to me) when we can see him.
Flatly? I don't think so? I think any position for an extended period would wear on you. I was more imagining the torso on chair position, as that's how I used to read.
Maybe. I used to lay flat on the floor to read though.
NOOO That like learning ashens sofa is like slowing falling apart and the only part that is still good is where he films and repairs it
It's really funny to imagine a couch that's falling apart and useless except for one tiny little square patch that's perfectly kept up.
If I recall as a promotion for making one of his films he was giving away framed parts of his sofa
Now I will never watch Scott The Woz the same way ever again
Honestly I'mmore impressed in the amount of work he did to keep his sets consistent even after he moved. He like brought everything he set up mini sets at his new house. He has his whole f****** table here just for shooting floor shots. That's so much work but I love it!
I have seen this before but genuinely forgot that he filmed these videos this way.
Is there a chance he used to film on the floor but started doing this after he moved?
He did, just to be more comfortable and to reduce back pain
Also was messy as hell
In the early days of scott he did actually film on the floor
I feel so... violated
Somebody should repost this one more time
Its my first time seeing it
Same and Ive been watching Scott for years
wow I was imagining him like kicking his feet in the air when he gets excited
I remember when he posted that it was the funniest thing to learn about his process.
As someone with OCD and not realizing how nasty the carpet is until I got older, I'm honestly a little relieved Scott isn't filming his personal collection on the actual floor. Still plenty of other questionable moments I can only assume is an extra copy of a rare game or system he didn't really destroy.
Why does he need such a large patch?
so he can zoom out to a big box, also so he can have stuff out of frame and pull it into frame quickly
Right but like 80% of the carpet isn’t used. He could easily cut out stuff that isn’t in frame
I mean if the tables that size and the carpets that size then cutting the carpet is probably more trouble than it's worth for something people don't see anyway. The carpet being that size lets it hang off the edge and less likely to slide off too
This is the first time I've seen this, my day is now ruined
I've never even questioned this and now I can never not think about it
# WOZ! ILL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
My favorite part is he'll still talk about bringing something "down here to the floor" just for the aesthetic.
The idea of scott swinging his legs like a school girl is funny
HE FUCKED IT! SCOTT FUCKED IT JUST LIKE HE FUCKED GARBANZO AND FRIENDS!
BETRAYAL
Broke: learning there is no Santa Clause Woke: Learning Scott doesn’t lay flat on the ground while recording on his carpet
Other people: "Yes, that is an interresting method. I did not consider that. How humorous". Me: "WHY IS IT SO BIG?! HE ONLY NEEDED TO COVER A QUARTER OF THE DESK TOP! THINK OF THE MONEY!"
I think its just a rug, and cutting it would be *effor*t
He used to sit on the floor in videos before he moved, so until like 2021-22ish the carpet was real
This is awesome
This seems like more effort than actually filming on the floor
So, does Antdude do it the same way for the few carpet games videos he did on his gameplay channel?
Its super convincing. I kinda figured he did something like this given how many videos feature him over carpet
This is genius actually
I was really saddened by this too cause I always thought it meant Scott had the same carpet in his house as I did. Cause it is literally the exact same carpet that’s in my living room.
scott stash best channel ever
I knew this is how he did it but I had no idea how BIG the carpet actually was lol
I seriously wonder why he hasn't cut it into a smaller section so it's not as annoying to move around or if it's just always there
I guess this also means he didn’t have to get his feet shown in the video. Since i can imagine that’ll go that site

Oh my god you can see the imprint of his body
I'm in awe of this
Gonna be honest, I kinda assumed this was the setup. He seems like someone that wouldn't want his real games and stuff sitting on a potentially dirty floor.
When I first saw that set up it kind of reminded me of dankpod's green ipad set up
The comment at the bottom You do realize how harmful laying down on your stomach for long periods of time can be
I do, it wasn't me who commented that.
I know I'm just addressing the comment
Oh, right.
We’re gonna need his address
I’m mad butt hurt
Why?
Because he’s not using real carpet >:3
