You're alright. You know your intentions were not ill-willed, or that you didn't mean too offend. In my culture, we have to "bapt", which is similar to "mano", for all our elders. Its an awkward interaction growing up in the Western world, even worse if you don't like interacting with people in general. There are people who will never see shyness as an excuse and until you get out of your shell, its a reality that you must deal with. I was really shy growing up and understand why you feel this way.

You are describing shyness, not introversion. Two different concepts. Shy people are often frustrated extroverts. Introverted people can be perfectly at ease socially.
