Not defending the post, but wanted to add some info. Up to 50s and 60s italians were not considered white in Europe and US. They would not have been considered black, but definetly NOT white. If you read Mario Puzzo's "Godfather" (which is not that good of a book imho), you see this reflected. The term used for italians was "guineas", which was a term that would have also been used for people from africa and south east asia (think "equatorial guinea" in africa and "papua new guinea" in oceania).

Where my dad grew up in NJ in the 50s there weren't many black people but there were a lot of Italians, and the town was segregated based on Italians vs non-italians. He worked at the pool growing up and the Italians had separate times where they could use it and a separate section of the pool area for picnics and the like.

It’s technically correct, but leaves out a very important detail: he hated many whites as well. He wasn’t a white supremacist, he was a German supremacist. Jews in Europe were, in fact, white. Moreover, Hitler and his allies killed millions of Slavs: Russians, Ukrainians, Belarussians, Serbs, Poles, Czech, etc, which isn’t talked about nearly as much as it should. Let’s also don’t forget that an absolute majority of casualties in the European theatre of WWII were white, so there is literally no person, whose actions led to more white deaths, than Hitler’s.

Hitlers relationship with the Japanese (and the Chinese to an extent) was complicated. This is an established strategy for introducing increasingly racist or otherwise fascist views into the political mainstream. The way it works is that you say something like this to signal in-group support for Nazis and other white supremacists, and when people criticize you, you point to the extremity of your statement as proof that it's "Just a joke, bro." I've seen it called Schroedinger's Racism.
