In the universe where we can speed up the process of aging to get a clone ready in time for head transplant, I’m sure we can make the clone functionally braindead at birth too.
And it not effect the body's functionality or it's ability to serve effectively as a functioning body? I'd think cloning being already in it's infancy/development (in said universe this would need to change, though it's not unthinkable) and aging being studied more and more: I'd think we could create clones, and eventually effective clones! Though to make clones that genetically lack components needed for basic function of a human, or to be able to alter these traits so that they cannot function during life to be used as an empty vessel - would require acute and controlled adjustments of genetics (as opposed to just growing another and progressing aging) and or control over the brain/body that would facilitate making mindless usable bodies.
Cloning being expanded to cloning humans and such would be a breach of morals already, but I do think we could push for it at some point or have the advanced technologies enough to foster clones that are able to live normal lives without too much (ideally any) trial and error. I think for the technology to go further and create functioning, livable, bodies that can be transplanted to *without complicating the process of transplanting a human brain/head further* would require vast oversteps in morality to achieve that would be more akin to psychological torture and the ability to do so would be highly unlikely without poking and prodding at the brain in ways considered completely inhumane.
Those doing such could justify failed clones as just failures of life, who lived the short sweet lives they were given. On paper here and now, that doesn't look good whatsoever, but when they're lives that don't effect the general populous until genuinely effective - no many of the average man would bat an eye realistically. To experiment on living people of the public to justify making bodies that don't work on their own whatsoever, in the case that someone needs said transplant, I feel would be harder to explain and or have go smoothly.
Of course, all of this is hypothetical, and in said universe it could be enforced with no issue if we simply said it could. I just like the conversation :D
Basically these hypothetical humans are the Qu from All Tomorrows and would only do this cloning experiment to see if it can be done, not because it’s the most feasible option. Morality isn’t allowed to hinder progress, even if the progress is just to see if some strange concept is possible. They wouldn’t clone a braindead human because it’s their best option, but because it’s an interesting one.
