The bread was toasted separate from the banana. A frozen banana was cut into slices then sauced off in some vegan butter with brown sugar and cinnamon, then a glug of rum.
I guess it could have been assembled then pressed back into the sugar skillet for a nice crust. But I was hungry.
I only have frozen bananas cause I take them from work and they get bruised throughout the day. So I have to hear it up somehow.
Also no honey for me but I may try some maple syrup if I make it again.
Agreed, but I’m offended by the *thin* butter comment. It should be 1/4 tsp on both sides. Just place the bread on top of a pad in a warmed pan, and it’ll melt all the way through as it’s soaked up. If there’s liquid butter left after flipping with more butter, only then is it “too much” butter.
These are actually really good I use to make them on sliced bread and pan grill it like a grilled cheese till the peanut butter started melting. I loved them but they are super unhealthy so I had to give em up.
I love fried plantains. Always looking for new ways to add it in my food. I recently have been liking it with my steak and avocado. It sounds gross all together, but really it taste good. Just fork a piece of steak, avocado, and fried plantain, then put that heavenly combo in your mouth. Good stuff.
I’m assuming you’re vegan, OF. I used to be vegan. So, maybe tofu/seitan steak might make a good substitute.
Ansolutely not shitty, (shallow) fried bananas (not plaintains, bananas) are an amazing dessert throughout south america.
Split them in half, fry in butter and sprinkle sugar + cinnamon on both sides. In my country (Brazil) we serve this with a chewy cheese, similar to the one canadians use in poutine, and honey or sugarcane melassus.
I'm sure it would taste just as good with peanut butter and toasted bread.

I always assumed the whole sandwich was toasted, not just the banana.

You literally ruined it by making it extra. No need for all that extra stuff.
Hard disagree. A little cinnamon and a splash of rum sold it for me, and I'm not even a rum guy.
I prefer the traditional presentation. This sandwich is just to hippster for me.
I read the bun use as more "bread product I had in the house"
You would be correct. Only bread I had.
Too*
Disagree, this is like a ghetto bananas foster
Bananas Foster Care
Throw some bacon on her and you’ve got the famous Elvis Sammie ![gif](giphy|21jsTJ0SyBehCaiRZC|downsized)
I think I see bacon in there?! Too pale to be real pork bacon, but surely chicken, turkey or meat substitute. 🤔
Oh no. This should be cooked like a grilled cheese. Thin butter bread and the inside is peanut butter, banana and a bit of honey.
I only have frozen bananas cause I take them from work and they get bruised throughout the day. So I have to hear it up somehow. Also no honey for me but I may try some maple syrup if I make it again.
use maple syrup!! it's really good i always use it on my pb & banana toast 😊
Bruised or brown spots / ripening? The riper the banana, the sweeter the taste. Fairly close to black is what you use for banana bread.

It needs some work, but it’s a great start. Toast the buns real good, add some bacon, and you’ve got something magical.
That looks good not gonna lie 🔥
I would gladly try that
This is so disrespectful
I usually bake mine, but yep, good stuff. I see you went with crunchy, good choice.
Yes, this shit fucking slaps. Go king
It sounds good, but I don’t know if I could eat warm banana
Never had Banana Fosters? Banana Pancakes? Warm Banana bread?
Banana fritters ;)
No to all three, actually. I know I’m probably missing out
My dad would go CRAZY for this smh
Just call it a burger at this point
Banana Burger?
Banurger
Or a Burnana, if you please
Sure buddy, why not
Absolutely not

Doesn't sound bad
