Always loved the Dandys. Growing up in 90s/00s Britain they were huge so I've been a fan since I was a kid. Dandys Rule, OK is one of my all time favourite albums. Fast Driving Rave Up truly fucking rips.
I’ve seen them more than any other band live (like 40+ times) and have been lucky enough to work with Peter on some video game soundtracks.
Such a great live band and Peter’s solo projects, Pete International Airport and Sun Atoms, are also great and well worth checking out.
in b4 a whole thread of "dae Dig?"
I like quite a few of their songs and agree they seem to be listening to a lot of the psych stuff coming out of the UK at the time. Massively hit or miss band though.
Yep. Like all those bands, and others in their orbit, are my top faves and I try to see them whenever they play in my city. Would love to go to something like Austin psych fest some day if I could afford the flights.
I believe I discovered shoegaze because I was reading something about the Brian Jonestown massacre being partially influenced by my bloody valentine. Thought that was a cool band name and looked them up. Been hooked ever since haha
The Dandy’s are great. Just saw them live last year (though in truth I went to the show to see Daiistar). I would assume that a decent number of folks who were shoegaze fans in the 90’s have at least a few Dandy’s songs that they like.
I love them!! The first three songs on Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia in order are psychedelic rock/shoegaze/indie rock bliss!!!
Even their older stuff like “Be In” also falls in this category 😍
Yeah, I love all of the bands you mentioned plus a few more. Definitely a lot of crossover.
It’s been a while since I saw them last but the Dandys were always a lot of fun live.
Bohemian Like You is one of my all time favorite songs. The writing is exceptional telling a completely relatable story right down to the old boyfriend paying bills on time, the band scene and restaurant serving vegan food. Not to detract from other great tracks like “Boys Better” but I have to listen to Bohemian a few times a week. With a MBV chaser!
Old Dandy's were amazing! I tend to keep an open mind regarding music, but their newer stuff is pretty hard to listen to.
Yeah, they lost me after Thirteen Tales, but those first three albums and the black album are hits.
The new album is pretty good imo
BJM is an all timer for me. Fantastic.

They broke my sitar, motherfuckers

Love them. Saw them a few weeks back in Auckland. Looooove BRMC too.
Of course! Some DW songs are decidedly shoegaze-ish. Been a looooong time DW fan and SG fan
I definitely rock them periodically. When I need something “happier” to listen too. The old stuff though late 90s early 00s
