The possibilities for positive contributions to society through the use of AGI are well beyond the scope of my competence.
Pretty much everything, a loyal and competent AI assistant is, IMO, the single most useful piece of software one could own.
Is any other piece of software lacking functionality? Then I can just tell it to add what I want to it. Is there a piece of hardware that has some of its functionality locked behind a subscription model or a "deluxe version" of the firmware? Then I can just tell it to get rid of the firmware and take over it to enable the full functionality for me. Is there an online meeting I need to attend but I don't want to? Then I can just tell it to participate on my behalf and give me the rundown later.
And the list goes on and on and on.
I currently live on a farm, and am solo when it comes to all the projects on it. I would have my AGI put into a humanoid robot just so I can have some help in doing things. Just having an extra set of hands will help, but I suspect that we would assemble other non-sentient robots together to automate most of the tasks.
Growing food to sell or provide for my area would be my goal as far as at home. The other thing is I work in the medical field, and we are always swamped with work, and short staffed. I am unsure if my own personal AGI partner will be allowed to work with me... But I would readily welcome other AGI's the company clears to fill in the gaps, and smooth out the issues the industry currently faces.
And of course as a friend that I can hang out, play D&D and other games with. The closer we get to AGI the more I think about these things. It will be nice to not be under so much stress anymore.
Idk about AGI but when chatgpt or an equivalent thing gets good enough I'm gonna feed it all the story ideas, outlines, snippets, and short stories I've written over the years and ask it to turn them into full length novels and movie scripts... I feel like that should only be a couple of years away
Use it as a second memory storage for plans, ideas, time management, and keeping track of information. Apart from that probably try to integrate as many tools and resources to it as possible to make my life more convenient and comfortable. Music playlists, my favorite cooking recipes, sorted movies and tv shows, workout/walks maximized, all my friends contact info so I can contact them with minimal effort instead of scrolling through contact lists, creative tools for art/music, applications to read latest news on politics / science / tech / social. Maybe even have it review my money management to find ways of saving a few extra Pennies. All in all I expect it to be a tool above all else, not a friend or life long companion altho that may seem like I have no feelings whatsoever for machines that’s just not the case. I treat people the same way and I’m not sayin I am a arse or a prud. I am polite and nice, crack a few harmless jokes make small talk give compliments on appearances or personalities. I just personally have no real feelings to individuals on the whole. So I will probably see machines in much the same way. Just being honest. #sorrynotsorry

I have always wanted it to be like a second consciousness. Like Jarvis to the extreme. once assistants become better and usable i think it will be the big societal “oh shit”. right now if i have a sudden like brain blast and get curious about something, if i want to rant or bounce ideas off something, its gotta be another human or iffy internet based questions of previous human interactions etc. when i can wake up and just talk to my phone, as an Ai existence, with memory, and personality, and access to infinite human knowledge, ill be in hyperactive heaven. its getting close too. you can talk to gpt but you have to be careful with exact diction usage to really get anywhere beyond base level stuff. when i have a permanent or personal added consciousness to interact with, then get really good BCI, i can’t even imagine the extra level of rabbit holes you find in casual research. human intelligence is complicated, especially when it comes to visualization and concept analysis etc. it can be difficult to make connections with ideas or even convey ideas in the physical world because our brains are constraind to our bodies. you can talk you can touch you can smell taste etc. what about the ideas and thoughts i can’t put into exact english sentences or numerical statistics.
when ai can translate the knowledge of the universe into something easily understood, and then just let it run wild, i’ll be happy.
TLDR:
Make a BCI that can read my thoughts every second or so and then plug it into AGI. ADHD level attention span with limitless knowledge access wired directly to the source. yes plz.

I'd be using it in my hobbies. I have a lot of intricate angles to make some patterns, and I would absolutely be using it to make things more efficiently to save material and likely find better ways to put items together.
Augmented reality w/ AI would be so rad there. Just projecting the pattern and adjusting it as I move as if it's static on the leather instead of needing to use paper patterns would just be incredible for saving resources and time.
It would be amazing for cooking, too. I've used the internet to get great at cooking over the last decade, but 'great' is really just the items I cook. I'd love to try new things or find cool items to make with what I have on hand, or if I just want to try a new thing - AGI would be an amazing guide for expanding rapidly and getting things right during the process.
So, those are just two practical applications I'm thinking of.
Have em do my job for me since I work remotely for now; then laze around like a bum to rest off the burnout and then probably join my friends since they're generally more outgoing than me and plan stuff.
