Your grandkids with think TV stands for Text to video

bwatsnet

They'll be busy evacuating the east coast from global warming disasters.

3-4pm

No mine will be convinced that global warming flooding videos are all AI generated.

mussyg

Just as god intended

i_never_ever_learn

Mines are notoriously hard to convince

AggressiveGround5352

oh brother. So tired of the climate change discourse.

Commercial_Jicama561

Those guys can turn any subject in a apocalyptic mood.

bwatsnet

Imagine what our grandkids will think.. I'm sure they'll be thrilled you were tired of talking about the end of humanity.

lovesdogsguy

Looks like text to video progression is moving at the same pace as text to image did.

Crafty-Struggle7810

The stock footage industry is going to shrink considerably.

joeycloud

Actually it will grow, but it doesn't mean it'll benefit human workers; mostly shareholders at the top proprietary AI stock content factories.

Serious-Cucumber-54

Nah, that only makes sense if the AI is shared exclusively with stock companies. If it's available for everyone to use then I see no reason why people would turn to stock companies when they can just create it themselves.

cloudrunner69

Now watch it while thinking of it as an advertisement for The OASIS.

Ezylla

roblox couldve been the oasis but its somehow way too corporatized

arun_2685

Waking up and seeing Sora cooked is amazing!

Much-Seaworthiness95

So hyped up for what's coming the next few years with all this! I was afraid that even if AI produced amazing stuff, it wouldn't be that interesting for kind of the same reasons that no one watches top AI chess players, but I feel the reverse right now actually. Watching AI images, music, videos, it's amazing, it's like watching the product of a dream machine that lives in-between the collective human imagination. There's something intrinsically special about it to me, imagine the amazement of an awesome movie completely generated by machine computation.

yaosio

My prediction is that once we get multimodal models that support arbitrary data input and output we will see a massive spike in ability. We know that more compute produces better models, and more data produces better models. If more is better, then more types of data should also be better. However, even with upcoming multi-modal models they still only take in three types of data; text, 2D image, and audio. These types of data are handled in different ways created by humans, so each supported data type needs significant work for support, and from The Bitter Lesson we know humans suck at making AI better. The best way to deal with data is to have the model figure out how to handle the data itself. This would allow a model to support any kind of data including a data type it's never seen before, and interpret data it's given in different ways. You could give this hypothetical model an image but tell it to interpret it as audio for example. I have no clue what that would do, but I'm sure it would at least be cool. Let's imagine we have this magic future model. It's been trained on lots of different types of data, and can provide output in any format. You can communicate with it in any way you want including our favorite method natural language. You want to generate some video and you want perfect control over the camera. You want to be able to pan, tilt, rotate, etc. at a pixel perfect level. You can't do that via text, and you don't have a virtual camera setup to feed into the model to show it what you want. This is a multimodal model, so you just ask it what the best way to provide perfect image control. Let's pretend that best way is a graphical interface. It could write the interface for you which feeds back into the model, and since it wrote the interface it will understand everything it's given. You now have perfect image control written by the model. Can the future come any quicker please!?

JamR_711111

I would never have imagined such progress this quickly just a few years ago

DlCkLess

Sora is cooked 💀

DeRoyalGangster

You know Sora was already finished early 2023, right? OpenAI probably already has a better video model in the works or in red team testing phase.

TheOneWhoDings

Sora who?

StraightAd798

The Force is ***STRONG*** with this one!

pxp121kr

How come Sora is still not released? Even a smaller version? OpenAI played us once, played us twice, but people are not stupid. Their malicious business practices with the "announcements" to PSYOP the public that they are better than anyone else, yet delivering fucking nothing, is eventually gonna bite them in the ass. The gap is closing day by day.

Gubzs

Let. Me. Use. It. Until then I just can't care. Not on someone else's server. Not with a subscription. So sick of this stuff.

PwanaZana

That's 100% the only way you'll be allowed to use it though. :( I think local video gen is a long ways off because of how brutal the performance requirements are.

Gubzs

I'm curious - do we know the RAM requirements? I have an H100 - perks of being in IT.

PwanaZana

Not to my knowledge. All AI companies keep that info under wrap. Sorta strange too, it's not like revealing the capabilities of your most recent fighter jet.

olegkikin

Training these models is very expensive. Someone has to pay for it at some point. Expecting a free service like that is not reasonable.

Gubzs

Yeah I used the word free didn't I

yaosio

Don't forget that it's a safe model. If you want to remake Disney's The Hunchback Of Notre Dame you'll be shamed because the movie starts with murder and attempted murder of a baby.

Gubzs

This is really what I'm talking about. At least one reply isn't unhinged. I have no issue paying for it. But if I can't use it I couldn't care less, but even then, I don't like having to *lease hardware* to *use software* it's just needless and the recurring trend is just more of the same.

TheOneWhoDings

Sick of what? Not being able to use for free tech that costs companies literal billions of dollars to produce and is obviously too heavy for any consumer hardware? like the other dude said, the entitlement is insane.

Gubzs

I'm not entitled? I didn't say "give it to me how dare you" I just don't care about it if I can't use it and I'm sick of people trying to hype me up for someone *else's* toy because that's just dumb. What's insane here is your reflexive hostility.

mxforest

> So sick of this stuff. Oooh the entitlement. You are sick of a private (for profit) company releasing a proprietary product?

Gubzs

I'm sick of being expected to care about something I can't use. That's not entitlement. Entitlement is "let me use it for free how dare you" My god you people are insufferable.

Internal_Ad4541

It's gold close to Gen 2.

kindofbluetrains

In the comming days...?

DlCkLess

https://preview.redd.it/amfbuyhho87d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d06d31bd92ac806f2411632f4bca751da59cb451 Yes in a few days this guy works for RunwayML

PalmTreesOnSkellige

We should take it w a grain of salt. Hoping I'm wrong, of course.

lordpuddingcup

We will see, I'm sure it won't be gimped by "SAFETY" to the point action scenes will be impossible or blood, gunshots, explosions, even slightly ... adultish scenes etc

amitbhai

god damn

SkyInital_6016

So you're saying we'll be able to get the Star Wars sequels we wanted all along

-DethLok-

This US election is going to be an amazing clash of AI video adverts - I'm not really looking forward to the unhinged hysteria that will result by those people who believe them to be true - judging by their reactions to stuff already easily disproved.

Artistic-Message7912

1:19 straight up took a bollywood actress likeness😂😂

chiffry

Somehow reminds me of Kanye’s AI music video for vultures

marvinthedog

While this is insanely awesome I get a little motion sick from the slightly deforming landscapes during camera movement. I dont think I have experienced that as much in the other recent video generators.

true-fuckass

This looks great but I have to ask: is slow motion the video equivalent of image's greasy satin / progeria koreans? (ie: is there some kind of weird bias people have for slow motion aesthetics?)

NotASlapper

Text to video never stops being amazing to me... Even since Sora release I still gasp sometimes when seeing these. Truly remarkable

Block-Rockig-Beats

Wow! Just wow! A whole new world populated with beautiful young females! No seriously, watch the video again, there's no men in it. Said that, I really like it. Source?

ziplock9000

Does it come pre-trained with sexism?
