Don’t really care for this skiers vs snowboarders but if we’re dropping anecdotes, a snowboarder ran through my gf on a green her first time skiing and fucked up her MCL and she refuses to ski again, so thanks to that I guess we won’t be a ski family
I’ve been hit bad - as in “end of weekend” or once “end of (late) season” bad - three times in my life. All skiers with skills. 2/3 of them was unquestionable bad judgement by them, 1 was at best bad luck.
I’m a skier and hit a boarder before but it’s cause they were sitting right under a jump. Don’t hold hold anything against boarders or skiers just dumbasses.
I have 3 screws and a rod in my left leg from a skier. I dont hold any ill will towards them. Snowboard bindings will fold in weather there is a leg in it or not if it gets hit from the back
it's 440EUR for 2 drops. First drop is next to the top of Mont Blanc (Piton des Italiens), then you ski down the Bionassay Glacier ( Italian side). Then they come pick you up at the bottom of the glacier to drop you just in front on the Glacier ( Tête Carrée)
I did it once but i would not recommend it for several reason:
* too much people . It's a constant delivery of people on top and helicopter are very noisy
* you need to wait for the guide . Ski 100m. Wait. Ski 100m wait. It's not fun at all
* and last but most controversial: global warming and heliski are not compatible. In hindsight i would not do it. You can have the same experience by going to l'Aiguille du midi, hike a few km and have a better drop and a more wild adventure
i don't know how the conditions are in the rest of the world, but here in the Alps it's quite dramatic. No snow under 1500m . Today it's raining at 2500m.

Our passion is the mountain and the snow we should all looking out for it and all make efforts in that direction
It's banned in most of the Austrian alps and you can only do it in the western most province Vorarlberg. The mountains they are using are quite unremarkable and tracked out quickly too.
Heliskiing imho is just a waste of money and energy without prime conditions.
I went heli skiing once. Chugach range, 2015. Warmest winter in record. Snow level at Alyeska was 2K' above base, bottom was entirely bare. Snowmobile travel was banned because most passes didn't have to enough snow.
Up top, the skiing was fun and the Chugach are beautiful. It was a cool experience. But flying over those green passes filled me with existential dread. It felt criminal to spew a metric shitton of carbon into the air just for my private ski lift. I definitely felt like a big part of the problem.
If you love snow, don't heli.
It wasn’t a day, 3 drops. There were 12 people in his ski gang. I think they got a bulk deal. Maybe the heli companies are offering deals because this part of the alps struggled for snow this year. The conditions looked pretty decent in the drop zone pics he sent me but I thought the video was pretty cool so I shared it. Anyway, he had a blast.
I can just tolerate helis in the mountains for aid and supply reasons (helping out others), but for getting up a mountain because you are lazy? What is this 1980's shit?
It's not about the effort, its about the pollution; noise and co2. Resorts aren't as noisy and are I know where they are on the map, so it's easy to take them into consideration. But yeah, La Folie Douce and La Bergerie would fck off if it was up to me.
To be clear, I do see resorts as ugly scars on the mountains, but I get it. For many it's seen as a necessary evil, for most there is not really a viable alternative, so it's tolerated. Heli skiing is truly unnecessary though, especially in the Alps.
You complained about it being lazy in your first comment but it's no different than taking a chair lift lol. I hope you walk to every trail head and only ski tour or else you're a hypocrite.
Walking to every trailhead would release too much carbon dioxide- gotta ride! But remember- climate change impacted by solar, orbital, and axis variations. Ask the dinosaurs.
Fucking rich people man. I just love how we don’t give a fuck about how harmful this is for already dwindling ski opportunity. Just do what I want and not think about consequence.
Not sure tbh, 19 y/o brain would be my first guess. Dumbass in other words.
He and a group of friends went to the French alps to ski for winter break and I suppose that while at a bar someone suggested heli and so the next day they went to Italy and did just that.
Was this from Gressoney in Aosta? I did the same trip about 6 years back (completely different conditions). After the drop and a short hike, you ski a glacier all the way down into Zermatt valley. The next stage around Cervinia and down the next valley to meet the funicular is great in the right conditions.
Epic day out
Why he a criminal
It’s a meme about snowboarders
Correct
Because they hit skiers quite often ? Actually I was hit by snowboarder once, very painful
I've been hit by more skiers than boarders.
Don’t really care for this skiers vs snowboarders but if we’re dropping anecdotes, a snowboarder ran through my gf on a green her first time skiing and fucked up her MCL and she refuses to ski again, so thanks to that I guess we won’t be a ski family
sounds like you need a new girlfriend
but think of all the money you be saving but not being a ski fam

I have hit two skiers while snowboarding. Both in front of ski patrol. Both instances skiers were at fault 100% as stated by ski patrol.
You don’t call someone a chef because they make one meal. Us snowboarders are committing crimes your square brain could never comprehend.
My kids and in-laws were hit by boarders…sorry you were hit. It sucks.
Same as skateboarders
How much it costs ridding on chop
He did 3 drops for $880 cad total. I have no idea if that’s a good deal or not, I’ve never been heli skiing myself.
$650 USD. thats a very good deal.
Extremely good. Usually about 1500-2000 usd per day Edit: for 8-12 runs
That adds up to more than the usual, though. Wouldn’t that make this a decent, but not extremely good, deal?
Ya sorry that's what I meant by the edit. Probably pretty discounted though, looking at that snow...
Price for 3 runs in whistler 😂
I imagine it's due to the lack of traffic atm
There were 12 kids altogether on winter break from school. That might have helped bring the cost down too. I say kids but they’re 19-20 years old.
So kids lol
He has to clarify it because Redditors would assume it’s 5 year olds and report him to CPS.
Yes exactly, I was concerned that kids would think I was talking about kids so I had to clarify for the kids.
Except there’s no snow lol
this a horrible deal. look at those conditions. plus in the silverton u get double the runs for about 1200
So much cheaper than I had expected
You sure he snowboards? We’re known for not paying
That's a pretty good deal. I just checked, and Selkirk-Tangiers in Revelstoke charges $1700 for four to five runs.
That’s WAY cheaper than I thought it would be.
Definitely not at least in my opinion. But that is a lot cheaper then id of expected for that.
Wow that's crazy good $$! The heli ski at whistler is like 1600 4 run I believe?

Jesus that snow pack. Helicopter rides are fun tno
He had a blast. There eventually was snow but not fresh stuff.
Alps is grim for natural snow this year. Altitude, snowmaking, the food, and $45 lift tickets still save the day though.
Food alone is reason enough to go to Italy
Fun but definitely not helping with the snowpack.
Might as well go heli mtb
There is no skiing in this video :(
I mean helicopter for leisure or long fligths are clearly not helping the snowpack…
Stop heli skiing. Energy intensive lazy
There's a time and a place for heliskiing but the alps ain't it. You can get everywhere human powered here.
Nah, helicopters are dope
Gotta earn your runs! Maybe pass up on the petrol consumption, it doesn’t do the snow pack any good
I need the flight hours though
Yeah that’s why there’s no snow
Heli-crime
I can’t believe we haven’t yet banned this BS sport.
Lets pump out insane amounts of co2 and then later wonder why there is no more snow. #fuckheliskiing
It's banned in most of the Austrian alps and you can only do it in the western most province Vorarlberg. The mountains they are using are quite unremarkable and tracked out quickly too. Heliskiing imho is just a waste of money and energy without prime conditions.
It’s banned in France
A kid this rich isn’t allowed to be called a criminal
Lol right?! He paid for it himself through his grass roots pharmaceutical business.
I've never heard " weed dealer" put so eloquently.
I was thinking cocaine
Coke heads often will think cocaine.

Would majorly suck to pay for a helicopter in those conditions. What is the point?
The conditions on the mountain were good, not fresh pow good, but still good.
I hope it wasn’t any of the mountains shown in the video, because that looked awful.
Jeez, who pissed in your cereal?
Bros just jealous that he wasn’t there
Jealous I wasn’t paying thousands of dollars to ski on rocks? Yeah, ok lol.
Sounds like he paid $650 sooo……
Plus airfare, lodging, etc
If someone can post a link where you can heli-ski for a day for $650, I will eat my shoe. Thats not even close to realistic for a day of CAT skiing.

Why do you have to be so annoyingly negative
I’m just telling the truth. Sorry it hurts?
This looks quite normal for Italy, in a year with les snow.
I can just tolerate helis in the mountains for aid and supply reasons (helping out others), but for getting up a mountain because you are lazy? What is this 1980's shit?
Ski resorts must really grind your gears
It's not about the effort, its about the pollution; noise and co2. Resorts aren't as noisy and are I know where they are on the map, so it's easy to take them into consideration. Looks like heli-hiking with those conditions.
Sestriere, Italy perhaps? Did heli there last March in an identical chopper. Had WAY more snow than this
Yes, exactly correct
3 drops? Not that good of a deal. I went with Alaska Heli Ski for much less per drop
How much was it
Fucking rich people man. I just love how we don’t give a fuck about how harmful this is for already dwindling ski opportunity. Just do what I want and not think about consequence.
Heli-boarding.
Is OP Joe Biden?
Did he take his dirt bike?
I'm out of the loop with the whole criminal thing, can someone explain it to me?
Snowboarders are criminals
It’s a shame about the snow conditions, I’m in Italy right now and it’s snowing hard since last night
Wow look at all that snow
There’s no snow. What a waste
Yeah the base area looks pretty sad
I just finished a week the peasant way on the Italian side of Zermatt. Snow conditions were hard packed ice. 🤦
That’s unfortunate
Why not hit AK if going heli?
He lives in Norway.
ah i wonder why not heli there then?
Not sure tbh, 19 y/o brain would be my first guess. Dumbass in other words. He and a group of friends went to the French alps to ski for winter break and I suppose that while at a bar someone suggested heli and so the next day they went to Italy and did just that.
Im going heli skiing Thursday! Suuuper expected!
Bro awesome, I hope you have a blast.
I can't wait man, one of the perks of working at a heli ski lodge is you go for free!
Was this from Gressoney in Aosta? I did the same trip about 6 years back (completely different conditions). After the drop and a short hike, you ski a glacier all the way down into Zermatt valley. The next stage around Cervinia and down the next valley to meet the funicular is great in the right conditions. Epic day out
It was in the general Sestriere area. I’m not sure the exact location/peak. The video was taken just outside a village called Besse Alto.
But is he a smooth criminal?
