Nordic. Because true Nords never back down!
(Also has higher armour rating, light and can be improved without the Arcane Blacksmith perk and enchanted afterwards.)
Hi - new to enchanting. Was going to disenchant some ugly dwarven gauntlets for the one hand amplifier of 25%. Because I am low level on the skill, how much could I transfer over to some unaltered Ebony ones? Thanks!!!
If you have less than 20 enchantment skill it'll probably put on something like 7% if that. (These numbers are not precise but the gist is true)
25% is really good for a one handed enchant if you aren't power gaming an enchanter/smithing build, I'd keep them for now.
Edit: then again they *are* pretty ugly lol
When you disenchant the item, you get the enchantment permanently. The strength of the enchant has nothing to do with the power of the item you found it on. That is procedurally generated. When you enchant your own item, the power scales off of your enchanting level.
When I find something better than Nordic (Ebony, Stahlrim, or Daedric.), I can sell the Nordic because it's worth 1600. Whereas the Steel Plate is only worth 625.
When you disenchant, you gain the ability to put that enchantment on other items, once per item but no limit to how many items can get that enchantment, plus disenchanting items does increase your enchanting ability. Also, the power of the enchantment is dependent on your enchanting skill level, what soul gem is used for the enchantment, and any bonuses you currently have, such as from perks and/or consuming potions. I could check, but I think a level 100 enchanting skill using a grand soul in a grand or black soul gem, but no other bonuses other than perks, can give the item a bonus to a skill up to 40% to a skill.
You might need to calculate how much that 17 heavy skill bump is going to impact armour rating.
Edit: actually you could just equip it and see. Though I think the extra 17 would also give you some more damage reduction if you're not already at armour cap.
If you’re heading to the Blue Palace, you might want to rethink *that* outfit.
(Nordic I think looks cooler, has better armor stat, and you can enchant it later).
Well the first one is stronger and lighter but the second is enchanted but it’s up to you if you want the extra armor but also the enchant then just enchant the first
If the character was female I’d agree because swirly boob armor conquers all, but since they’re not I’d say Carved easily beats it.
Unless they’re a cat. Cats are born for Steel Plate.
Yeah I prefer it too, not a lot of realism in Skyrim’s armor sets! I really wish that the steel plate had chain underneath instead of just what appears to be a black shirt and pants
I’m going to be honest, under normal circumstances the carved armor should be your best option, but in this situation you have a “blanket” enchant. Where steel plate is both heavier and has less to the defensive cap, it has fortify heavy armor, that will apply to all your heavy equipment by way of the skill itself. Long story short, carved is the better armor, but steel plate is better by utility.
I'll be honest, I don't care for Nordic armour, even with the higher armour rating. I just see it as free money, basically. I think my little elf character looks better in steel plate.
Nordic Carved Armor is objectively better in every way.
Its design is superb the black fur and leather add alot of texture and design flair for a armor made for the harsh and cold land of skyrim.
Steel plate armor is trash, it looks hideous and that enchant sucks if the enchant was at 25 i'd say go for it but at 17 just no.. Level your enchanting and then enchant nordic.. it will be better as I generally find unless the number on the enchant is 40+ its generally not that good unless your avoiding enchanting all together.
But even then 17 is still ass.
Nordic. Because true Nords never back down! (Also has higher armour rating, light and can be improved without the Arcane Blacksmith perk and enchanted afterwards.)
This. You can enchant it with whatever is best for you. And it look better too. Def Nordic.
Until they can make their own the plate is a better choice, 5 armor points isnt as good as boosting your heavy armor skill.
They can disenchant Steel Plate and put the enchantment on the Nordic
True! But unless their enchantment skill is high, they will put less than 17 points onto it.

Much appreciated! Will save them for when I get higher in the skill.
If you're not going to use them you could disenchant them. Enchanting lvl doesn't matter for disenchanting.

Thank you!!!
Nordic becouse of drip
Drip is always the most essential factor.
Drip > Warmth > Armor Rating > Weight Class > Weight
I'd say weight class is more important than ar, for the perk bonuses
Drip also adds attack and magic power, so it always takes precedence.
Destroy steel to learn enchant. Put it on Nordic. Easy
This is the way

A 17 point skill increase makes me think this is already enchanted. I’ve never seen an odd number (other than 5) in the wild lol

Nordic carved as it is lighter and has a higher armor rating, and you can enchant it yourself.
nordic looks cooler tho
YouTube's better
My philosophy is whichever looks cooler. Skyrim is not a game where Min/Maxing should be a thing.
Well the first one is stronger and lighter but the second is enchanted but it’s up to you if you want the extra armor but also the enchant then just enchant the first
Nordic, so you can put 2 enchantments on it.
Just look at the value, and all this without it being enchanted....
Man, different armor in this game is worth jackshit. 90% of the time you just put on whatever's cooler. 10 armor is worth like 2% dmg reduction.
Steel plate looks better. Looks > everything.
Hard disagree, the carved Nordic armor set is arguably my favorite in the whole game by appearance
[удалено]
You disagree that Nordic is their favorite? 😜
This is so true. I can't raid dungeons looking like a pauper. Or a secondhand raider.
If the character was female I’d agree because swirly boob armor conquers all, but since they’re not I’d say Carved easily beats it. Unless they’re a cat. Cats are born for Steel Plate.
I prefer the more realistic look of the steel plate.
Yeah I prefer it too, not a lot of realism in Skyrim’s armor sets! I really wish that the steel plate had chain underneath instead of just what appears to be a black shirt and pants
I like style much more but if you struggle with the game choose the steel plate with the enchantment
The nordic amor is so beautiful 🤩
Nordic, because you can enchant it.
Nordic jist looks cool
Gonna go against the flow and say steelplate

Nordic and enchant.
Steel plate has looks but it doesn't actually matter just go with what looks best with the rest of your armour
Nordic I’m pretty sure it improves better
Nordic
The second one without context
Nordic weighs a little less but has a better strength and cost more and you can also put the same or better enchantment on it
Doesn't matter. You can upgrade and enchant the armor you like the most to be better.
I think that skill bump may outweigh the regular armor # BUT... consider... nordic
Bro, you said “which” like that, so it looks like your mentioning Twitch, XD
I got some shit like this before
I got some shit like this before
Nordic looks better
Nordic it has the higher armor rating also the 17 points of heavy armor increase doesn’t really matter if you have a high heavy armor skill already
Nordic carved chest piece, daedric gauntlets, ebony helmet and ebony boots is the best look in the vanilla game IMO
My Elven Gilded armor
Elden ring taught me I should go for looks over stats, so Nordic for me, but coincidentally its also better
The one with better armor rating, that's lighter and costs almost double the price...
Nordic bc Mazaradi Drip Drip
Nordic carved armor, with that enchantment. Oh yeah.
Disenchant the latter and put it on the former
I'll be honest, I don't care for Nordic armour, even with the higher armour rating. I just see it as free money, basically. I think my little elf character looks better in steel plate.
Nordic
Armor and weapon material upgrades are linear. Nordic is better
One weighs one point less and has a better armour rating and can be enchanted. Should be obvious
Plate has a *kilt*. I think we’re done here.
Neither , I prefer to walk around naked
Oh Nordic hands down, I mean...I give Lydia the whole nordic set and damn...she's looks good in it and hits like a damn hammer!!
Def Nordic. You can enchant it with even better enchantments later on
Everyone looks good in the NCA. It's heavy as fuck, but it's so flattering.
Nordic armor
Looks > survival
Just wear the steel to find out if it’s enchantment increases your armour rating by more than the nordic does
idk about "Twich" but ya can't go wrong with good ol' fashioned Steel Plate.
Nordic carved for sure

This guy put "Twich" in the title of his post and thought "yup, this looks fine" and clicked submit. Unbelievable
I was like “better than what? A slight tremor?” but I JUST woke up. lol
Nordic has a better warmth rating
The design of the steel plate is a little Daedric so Nordic armor is better
prefer youtube myself.
