I'm 6'3, 175lbs with size 11 boots and would not get a 165w, that thing is gonna feel huge. I personally don't ride any boards over 158, even in powder.
I would likely size up to the next board size from you if I were him then.Â
@op I'm very similarly sized. 1"shorter .5 boot size smaller. I try to not go under 250mm waist width. You can see the boards I have in my sig. If I bought my flagship all over again I'd at least consider a wide, but it depends how you want to ride.Â
That’s huuuuge my dude. Just get a stiffer smaller board. Lib tech Orca is my all time fav board except for spring park days. Carves like a boss and dominates powder. Also has a lot of pop for side hits. I ride the 153 and I’m 6 foot 155 lbs size 11 boot. Good luck
165W is a big board for groomers. I'm 6'2" 200islbs . My go to is a 162 but I've been riding for 28 years. I'd go smaller. If you liked demoing the shorter boards then stick with it. Long boards are for carving or float, I have a 168 I love but it's not an everyday board.
If you can demo a load of boards in a variety of terrain and conditions, at the end of the day only you will know what you like. Everything else is just someone else's opinion.

They weigh 20lbs more than you. The board is going to feel different
I'm aware; that's why I included my stats. 😊
