People have always known mate lol not like he was some unknown player before he moved here. But this subreddit is dominated by people that prefer to watch English football so more people are seeing him play a lot more regularly
I think most fans knew he was great. You all were playing a lot of Champions League matches even if people didn't ever watch La Liga.
Posters on twitter/reddit who play FIFA/FM and only watch clips maybe not.
Yeah, i just read that comment and went back to double check thinking I missed something but nope. First watch I thought how the fuck is a striker completely open in the middle of hte defence and no one is even watching him let alone matching the run.
That wasn't a hard pass, at all, just shocking defence.
He's a baller but that is shocking defending, such an easy pass, would have been better if he played it on the ground too.
Rashford's touch was better than the pass
Most spot on comment here. That was schoolboy defending or worse. Rashford was simply left wide open. Something that's not likely to happen against a real opponent. That said while the pass itself was easy to do then Rashford still had to do an excellent first touch because of the bounce straight before it reaching him.
Staying on the pitch until after everyone else leaves to show how hardworking he is, then getting absolutely plastered and singing karaoke before waking up early to do it all again tomorrow.
It's unbelievable how much of a difference confidence can make, huh? He looks like a completely different player, arguably better than he ever was.
Good coaching and having reliable teammates around you are also important, obviously, but it has to be like 80-90% mindset. He was genuinely one of the worst players in the league last season. Pretty sure you can't find a single game, in which he started, where he wasn't one of the worst players on the pitch. A couple of good sub appearances accounted for the full extent of his positive contributions, as he was unfortunately almost just as dreadful when Rangnick tried using him as an impact sub.
Edit: The folks who didn't watch him on a regular basis last season might read this as hyperbole, but that's my genuine assessment - following the highly misguided and thoroughly unpleasant exercise of watching almost every game United played last season.
If viewed from a slightly warped perspective, you might have even been impressed by how consistent he was at being utterly wank. The entire squad was in perpetually shocking form, and yet he still managed to fairly reliably stick out like a sore thumb on the pitch.
What's happening with Rashford isn't quite the usual scenario of a player struggling with a rough patch then recovering after a bit, it honestly always seemed far too extreme to be just a routine drop in form. That could be a sufficient account for the likes of Bruno (and most of the squad really), but certainly not for Rashford, especially now that we have the benefit of hindsight. The level of improvement that he's displayed is so bloody profound it's just straight up inconceivable.
He had been improving steadily alongside the rest of the team (after we got past our initially pitiful start to the ongoing season), but at some point, he fucking exploded with confidence and the ensuing shockwave has yet to cease expanding. Whatever thing was rotting his mind, I'm ecstatic to see the lad recover from it in such an inspiring manner.
To be honest it's not surprising, he was killing it even with his knee issues, then he disappeared from the public consciousness when he had is surgery and then when he came back there was a massive change at united and Rangnick came in and the whole team was fucked, but Rashford took the brunt of it.
Dudes just a quality player, now he's back with a functioning team and a quality manager he's killing it.
> he's back with a functioning team and a quality manager he's killing it
This is it. We have a structure that allows Rashford to thrive by running into spaces and getting clean looks at goal. He is no longer having to play hero ball and trying to dribble past 3 guys aka no tactics, just inshallah and vibes.
Whilst his teammates didn’t help, Rashford was just atrociously bad during that period. Like the lad would single handedly kill every attack the moment he got the ball. So glad he’s turned it around but feel like you’re forgetting he was also just in terrible form
I'm not saying he didn't play badly, I'm saying the whole team did.
I'm just saying that the way everyone jumped on him because of that period was bad, he just came back from a serious surgery and everyone around him had basically given up, I can understand why his performance dropped.
He wasn’t the only one. Maguire, Ronaldo and maybe Bruno got it worse than him. But yeah clearly a lot of factors involved in his form. I honestly thought he was gonna be shit forever
I think the bigger question what was going on with him last year? He's running on a high right now. It probably won't last. But he's always been a super player. In 20/21 he finished the season with 36 goal contributions, and he'd clearly been struggling with something for the final 3 or so months of the season. He also had 34 goal contributions in 19/20. He's only recently turned 25 too so impressive numbers for a 22/23 year old.
If you'd asked me this time 2021 who I thought had the bigger ceiling between him and Vinicius, I'd have said Rashford. I think they've got a fairly similar skillset and have struggled with fairly similar problems (inconsistent end product / decision making). Sometimes a player just explodes and realises the talent we all knew they had, sometimes even exceeding it (see a player like Salah). It's like someone flicked a switch in these players.
20/21 season he was absolutely rubbish after December despite still notching up respectable GA. Eye test/performance wise he fell off a cliff after Christmas. So really it was 1.5 seasons of rashford playing like he was injured and toughing it out.
Of course we know he got surgery after the euros but I think it was his lack of preseason that really messed him up, it was as though he'd lost his explosiveness and touch.
>Eye test/performance wise he fell off a cliff after Christmas. So really it was 1.5 seasons of rashford playing like he was injured and toughing it out.
Yeah him and Bruno were carrying us in that attack in the first half of lockdown season until that shoulder injury meant he had to be take a step back and let Cavani fill in that void he left. Plus, he also started playing a lot out of position too because we have no options on that right hand side.
>Of course we know he got surgery after the euros but I think it was his lack of preseason that really messed him up, it was as though he'd lost his explosiveness and touch.
Oh yeah we haven't even factored that!
Yeah I just hoped he would be able to cover for the back four, make tactical fouls or do the dirty work,... What he's done lately for our attack is beyond my dream.
He’s been here a few months and I can already tell he’s going to be one of those players we can’t replace for a long long time. He’s so good. Surprisingly good going forward too.
It’s been like 10 years since we’ve had a DM influence the team so much (Michael Carrick) in 12/13
As a Madrid fan you always knew he had the quality but he just never had to take on so much responsibility with Kroos and Modric there.
It's so fun to watch him at United just completely bossing the midfield.
Although I do miss him :(
It is refreshing. But we also got second place with Fred and McTominay in midfield. So whilst they weren't the most inspired midfield duo, they're better than people give credit. Strong depth options for where we are as a club. Fred and Casemiro made a great pairing for Brazil too.
I think he is enjoying himself. He seems super relaxed. He's won all there is to win and now he's on a fat contract that will probably take him to retirement. He made it lol.
I still don't understand how madrid didn't get 100m+ for him, even if he's not young lone dm is the rarest position and even among the few that can play lone dm at the absolute top level Case has consistently been top 2 for years.
Guess Perez just didn't want to stand in the way of his move and I'm glad I don't have to watch him barge into the box at the 90th minutes everytime it looks like madrid are gonna drop points.
Age. They saw it as a prime opportunity to offload a player that might have only a couple of good seasons in his legs, for a decent fee. So they didn't play hardball.
Indeed! He looks to have matured so much on the field. He's no longer always looking for the spectacular goals and not rushing his shots. He's playing with so much more finesse instead of trying to put a hole in the net with each shot. Truly fun watching him. He's evolving to become a complete offensive player.
> He's no longer always looking for the spectacular goals and not rushing his shots. He's playing with so much more finesse instead of trying to put a hole in the net with each shot
Bennie McCarthy's work is paying off heavily already
I agree but man seems to like notch it up to another level since coming back from Qatar. Like how when Ronaldo return to Carrington to prepare for the 06-07 season, his stature changed.
also, you can see the kids in the crowd copying his new celebration now, he's been doing it the past few weeks & with the goals he's getting we're seeing it every week. our new siu
I think all non Man-U fans can agree that Casemiro is by far their worst and most annoying signing for years.
For Man-U fans the best .
I think any team in the world will be jealous of you guys for having him.

What a ball by Casemiro AGAIN
He is an absolutely phenomenal player.
He has been for 10 years now :D
People realizing NOW that Casemiro is one of the best in the world is so funny as a Madrid fan who's seen him ball since '14.
People have always known mate lol not like he was some unknown player before he moved here. But this subreddit is dominated by people that prefer to watch English football so more people are seeing him play a lot more regularly
Dude is a nightmare to see on the opposing side
See you soon
We in form too, gonna be a great game #GGMU

It was a good pass, but come on… He was so wide open, it wasn’t that difficult.

point-to-prove Rashy is my favourite
It feels great see the team finish chances, there was a period there in the past year when the team wouldn’t finish any of these chances.
let’s hope Wout equally loves putting the ball in the back of the net
Wout about to get so many assists by either knocking down, or holding up the ball for Rashford to come onto and smash into the net
Or just gets a dozen assists from challenging for the ball in the box and laying it off. Rashford and Bruno are going to feed off that guy.
Doesn’t even celebrate no more, cold blooded Rashy
Actual salary man. Comes on, scores goals, gets paid.
Goalman gets paid
Staying on the pitch until after everyone else leaves to show how hardworking he is, then getting absolutely plastered and singing karaoke before waking up early to do it all again tomorrow.
You love to see it
Noticed that as well, dudes on a mission to prove his worth .

As one of the folks who watched probably 90% of matches, you are spot on. He was a ghost at best last season.
wtf is going on with him
To be honest it's not surprising, he was killing it even with his knee issues, then he disappeared from the public consciousness when he had is surgery and then when he came back there was a massive change at united and Rangnick came in and the whole team was fucked, but Rashford took the brunt of it. "Inshallah and vibes" is my pro clubs team's motto
I've yet to experience one that isn't bar ones from the actual 11v11 leagues.
>now he's back with a functioning back

0 to a 100 real quick
Yeah I just hoped he would be able to cover for the back four, make tactical fouls or do the dirty work,... What he's done lately for our attack is beyond my dream.
More like 10 years
Actually since Carrick was last an effective starting midfielder (lets go with 2017), so about 5 years.
Has been for some time if I may add
Agreed but PL fan boys now get a chance to see him play every week.
He’s been here a few months and I can already tell he’s going to be one of those players we can’t replace for a long long time. He’s so good. Surprisingly good going forward too. It’s been like 10 years since we’ve had a DM influence the team so much (Michael Carrick) in 12/13
He's become more than that at United. He can do everything in that midfield.
As a Madrid fan you always knew he had the quality but he just never had to take on so much responsibility with Kroos and Modric there. It's so fun to watch him at United just completely bossing the midfield. Although I do miss him :(
Him and Eriksen have been an absolute joy to watch in that midfield. Incredibly refreshing to see after having Fred and McTominay there for so long.
It is refreshing. But we also got second place with Fred and McTominay in midfield. So whilst they weren't the most inspired midfield duo, they're better than people give credit. Strong depth options for where we are as a club. Fred and Casemiro made a great pairing for Brazil too.
Yeah no doubt, I rate them both, but as a midfield pairing they just weren’t ideal.
Honestly, at times I think he's enjoying having more creative freedom at Utd. Before that was probably left to Kroos and Modric.
I think he is enjoying himself. He seems super relaxed. He's won all there is to win and now he's on a fat contract that will probably take him to retirement. He made it lol.
He's earning that fat contact currently, fair play
Not even just in midfield, he's all over the pitch and does EVERYTHING incredibly
He can even play CB at the same time as Midfield 😂
I still don't understand how madrid didn't get 100m+ for him, even if he's not young lone dm is the rarest position and even among the few that can play lone dm at the absolute top level Case has consistently been top 2 for years. Perez wouldn't stand in the way of a club legend who is nothing but respectful to Madrid.
Age. They saw it as a prime opportunity to offload a player that might have only a couple of good seasons in his legs, for a decent fee. So they didn't play hardball.
But.. but 60m for a 30yo!!!!
You should pay us extra 20 just because
Would still be a bargain
Honestly would still be a steal lol
We gave you Ruud for like 8m. Still mad about that honestly.
You should pay us 100m for the goals Ronaldo scored each season!!!
he’s one of the best midfielders in the world right now hands down
Has been for like a decade my dude.
thanks for Casemiro and beating Liverpool in the CL my guys
has been for many years.
Been the best for the past 7ish years at this point
Might be the best midfielder in the world
LOL. You just expect him to score whenever he gets a touch nowadays. Unbelievable.
Opposite of last season - so pleased for him!
Indeed! He looks to have matured so much on the field. He's no longer always looking for the spectacular goals and not rushing his shots. > He's no longer always looking for the spectacular goals and not rushing his shots. He's playing with so much more finesse instead of trying to put a hole in the net with each shot Bennie McCarthy's work is paying off heavily already
Also probably has a lot with him working through his mental issues. Hope the same will come of Sancho when gets back to full fitness
Southgate you plonker
Gareth Southgate will pay for his crimes.
King Charles has given him one more chance, if he fails, he will be thrown to the lions.
It must be nice, it must be niiiiiice….to have Southgate on your side…
Will he though? Lol
He'll pay by getting another contract extension to the 2026 World Cup after England narrowly lose the Euros semi
No, he's laughing all the way to the bank
Gareth desperately googling how to get Casemiro to take a citizenship test
Gareth about to marry Casemiro to speed up the process.
He probably would marry Casemiro and then put him on the bench to field his usual squad.
Bench him for the mercurial Rice and Hendo pivot
Hodgson did the same thing in 2016. Twice Rashford has been wasted for Sterling who could’ve used some protection on both occasions.
He should be in The Hague
