Torn my ACL and meniscus in a football match last month. I was able to walk until the next morning when my knee was completley swollen and I was unable to move it more than like 10 degrees. Its not like you don't know you injured your knee as you can feel something is not right but there is not much pain when moving your knee until its swollen which usually takes between 5-20 hours.

Had surgery last wednesday, evreything went well. I was in physiotherapy for three weeks to optimize mobility and make sure the knee is not swollen anymore before the surgery. Thankfully pain is not really a problem during the whole process. The limitations and restrictions in basic things like walking, sitting down, showering etc. are the biggest cause of trouble for me (evreything takes longer and more effort). During the surgery they took a muscle fiber from my upper leg to repair/reconnect my ACL with that muscle fiber. (English is not my first language, sorry if it is hard to follow) Overall I am happy surgery is done and I can fully focus on recovery now. Thank you for asking on my well being! (:

I got myself to hospital the night of and morning after fully rupturing my ACL and fracturing a bone in my knee on public transport Admittedly probably a lot of hopping and scooting up/down stairs but it's doable
