Created a Tinder account a few days ago and I haven't gotten a single match yet. Ngl that's pretty impressive

Rusiano

Japan has very low crime rates, but somehow manages to have the most horrifying true crime stories

EyeSpyGuy

Any examples? I love reading about that stuff

Rusiano

Check out the KyotoRobato channel on Youtube. There are a lot on there

EyeSpyGuy

Thanks. You might also like [this](https://youtu.be/F0FswF11EzI?si=MX89m9-2xaDMq6gh) one which is about general Asian crime. Started with some about the Philippines then got hooked

Mttecs

A new twenty one pilots song is going to be released next week and I just cannot wait. I can't remember the last time I was so excited for music! The beginning of the end of a 9 year long story, it's very exciting!

[deleted]

To this day [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1BcMUKUuFA) is still one of my favourite DJ sets ever.

lastdyingbreed_01

I want to get into gym, can someone suggest what should a beginner do?

cuminyermum

Depends on what your goals are. If your goal is to get big and strong, Stronglifts is pretty good. It's a routine that's pretty much just important compound lifts and nothing else. My legs were really small so I like the emphasis it places on squats. People hate on it but doing just that for 3 months gave me a really great foundation for bodybuilding.

tomtea

If the gym is any good, they'll set up some programmes for us if you...if they don't, focus on legs one session and arms the next. 10 mins cycling/rowing/running warm up, then 5/6 weights machines (4 sets of 10 reps), 10 mins cycling/rowing/running cool down.

ComradePoula

Spent the last 2 days in Alexandria and this reaffirmed my belief that I'll never ever choose to live in a big city.

SechDriez

I have no clue which Alexandrian you're talking about but if it's the one I have in mind then it's a fairly bad example of a big city. It's extremely crowded, humid, and there's really not that much to do or places to go. The tram is ... fine, I guess. It's close to where I stay and the only place I go so it works for me.

ComradePoula

Yeah, it's the Egyptian one. >It's extremely crowded, humid, and there's really not that much to do or places to go. That's exactly my point. Why would I choose to live somewhere where I have to spend 2 hours in the bus to go somewhere that would normally take 20 minutes in a city that isn't as crowded. And you can apply that to every big city in Egypt too.

Zepz367

Completely agreed. Luckily, my country is pretty small and city that I live in isn't crowded at all

Rusiano

The only city to ever give me that feeling was Tokyo

EyeSpyGuy

Damn I absolutely love Tokyo but I also like big cities so maybe it’s my preference

Rusiano

I love big cities too, but Tokyo is the only one that ever gave me the "it's too chaotic to live here" vibe.

EyeSpyGuy

I wonder if it’s a matter of circumstance. Was born and raised in Manila. And while I completely understand why some people wouldn’t like a big city (particularly one like Manila with all its problems), I personally get bored after being in a small city for more than a few days. Maybe the beach is an exception but also I think I would miss a lot of the things that you can get in a big city eventually

ComradePoula

I live in an average sized town, so I can do most of what I can do in a big city like Cairo or Alexandria regularly, so I don't think I'm missing out on something there. Maybe if I was working on some types of jobs, I would be missing out by not moving out to a bigger city. But I work on a remote job so this isn't something I'm missing out on either. But each to their own I guess.

EyeSpyGuy

Yeah both definitely have their pros and cons and it depends which ones matter to you more. Also I think it can sometimes come down to cost, things can get expensive in a big city compared to a smaller one.

[deleted]

It was San Francisco for me lol

TroopersSon

I'm training for a marathon at the moment and I've done 150+ km so far this month. I'm so bored of running now and the marathon isn't until May so I haven't even reached peak training yet. Bring on May! I think once it's done I'm going to be hanging up my running shoes for a while and trying something different. Maybe Muay Thai, I've always been intrigued by trying a martial art.

Tomstarkman

Free Talk Friday should be extended Free Talk weekend!!!

FerraristDX

r/eternalfreetalkfriday is there for you.

Zepz367

Nah, I realized how good FTF only being a weekly thread is when I started browsing NFL sub. They have free talk thread every day, and honestly I love it just being once a week.

justforkikkk

This is like Infantini wanting a World Cup every two years. You have to preserve the magic by keeping it scarce

Begbie13

Nah, FTF is top tier during the workday Friday. At night I open it when I get back home (like now) for 10 minutes. I don't think I'd check it at all Saturday/Sunday

gzp_reposado27

I agree. Especially the last 2 hours of work, scrolling away.

Begbie13

To me its the opposite, the last two hours I go crazy in order to catch up to all the stuff I didn't do because of FTF

Hadn't driven in about a month so was a bit rusty, managed to knacker one of my front tyres in 5 minutes when I misjudged the distance on a turn and had to pull over to change a tyre in the middle of the city. I officially feel like a fucking lemon.

cuminyermum

At least you got some practice in changing a tire. I'm dumb so I somehow went 3 years as a driver without ever learning to do it. It wasn't until my tire decided to spontaneously blow up in the middle of nowhere and I had to call for help that I decided to learn

Hazeringx

How have you all dealt with ghosting/been ignored? There is this friend of mine who just stopped talking to me 10 days ago out of nowhere (our conversation was completely normal prior to that) even though she’s been online every day since. I messaged her yesterday and it took hours (and yes she was online too) for her to respond, and she is back to ignoring me. Is it normal for me to feel shitty about this or am I overreacting?

TiberiusCornelius

It's absolutely normal and appropriate to feel hurt by it, even if it's just a friend and not a romance. Getting ghosted sucks and it's terrible never being able to know if there was a reason or getting any sort of closure. Don't lash out at them or try to force the issue, but absolutely allow yourself to feel hurt. If it's been 10 days maybe there's something else going on; you can put yourself out there and make it known that you're open to talking again if they want it, but don't do any more than that. If they want to come back, they will. If they don't, I'm sorry. And I'm sorry that they didn't have the courage to actually end things and give you that closure.

Hazeringx

Thank you. What I am planning to do is to message her tomorrow (today if she decides to respond) or the day after, probably ask how she has been doing lately and probably do what you said. I want to ask if anything has happened recently or if I did anything to upset her, but dunno if it would a be good idea to ask at first.

TiberiusCornelius

I probably wouldn't ask directly right off the bat. It might backfire and make things worse. I've had times where I've had a lot of shit going on and I'm not doing well and I just sort of drop off the face of the earth, so hopefully it's just something like that, but if it's not then hopefully they'll at least own up to wanting to cut you off. My last ex ghosted me and it was genuinely the worst time of my life.

[deleted]

Reject almost never feels good but you can always use this experience to remind yourself to not do it to others. Empathy and what not. And if this person decided to cut ties in this way then they never really saw you as a close friend. You may have but they obviously didn't. It is what it is.

OhShitItsSeth

Being ghosted sucks, I'm sorry that happened to you. FWIW, the last time I got ghosted, the shitty feeling lasted about two months or so and then I more or less moved on. Granted, I had met my next gf at that time, but it did go away on its own. Keep your head up!

ponzop

Being ghosted sucks bro Happens to the best of us. With some girls they make you feel like they're letting you talk to them as opposed to just having an equal friendship. I know its hard but don't commit any more mental/spiritual energy towards her. Instead become excited about where you'll meet the one for you

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hazeringx

Yeah, that’s the thing that bothers me the most. Honestly at this point I just want to know if I did something wrong that would made her upset, or if she just wants a break from talking to me, or if she just wants to stop talking to me altogether. Not knowing why is making this whole situation shitty…

sindher

I think ghosting says a lot more about that person than it does you mate. The act of writing a text to say why they don't want to speak to you is easy, but they're cowardly for avoiding it altogether. I'd definitely lower your levels of communication with them because you deserve the energy you send out being sent back to you.

Hazeringx

I find it hard to do that because I thought we were decently close to each other. I think there is part of me that is just hopeful that things won’t really change like this permanently. Truth is though, you are probably right. That’s what I should do. I am just blinded by wishful thinking at this point.

Zillak

Way too many pics of the IDF posing with women's underwear from the house they destroyed. I guess when you're god's chosen people you can't see anything you do as depraved. It's not like it's just multiple pics one guy, way too many of them.

ederzs97

Instagram font on android changed for anyone else?

Illustrious-Law8648

Is it just me or why is every movie getting a Fourth movie in their franchise this year?

YQB123

Name a few?

cuntsmen

I don't really understand why Taylor Swift is such a big deal. When I drive to work, I usually listen to my own playlist on Spotify, but sometimes I'll just listen to the radio and they play her songs all the time. There's honestly nothing special about them. It's your average pop songs. Slap another name on her songs instead of Taylor Swift and most people wouldn't care about them. With that said, people should obviously listen to her songs if they enjoy them. Everyone have their own taste in music and I'm no music police lol

EyeSpyGuy

T swift hits different when you’re going through a breakup tbh

TroopersSon

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole myself trying to work this out, as I find her voice to be nothing special and her music, well also nothing special. From what I gathered her lyrics really hit home with girls and young women. We just aren't her target audience.

cuntsmen

> From what I gathered her lyrics really hit home with girls and young women. We just aren't her target audience. Yeah, this is probably it.

TruestRepairman27

Vagabond21

Where do you draw the line between friendly and flirting touching? I have a friend who has been rather touchy with me for as long as I can remember. I think she’s touchy in general. I saw her this past week, She got my attention by putting her finger in my ear and so we talked for a bit. At one point she rested her head on my shoulder when talking, so naturally I rested my head on her head. Anyways as we parted ways that night, she came up to me to hug me and kissed me on the cheek. A dude asked me if anything was us up between us based on how we were acting. So as of last year, I knew she had a boyfriend, so I’m kind of wondering if I’m possibly crossing some lines? Also saw madame web last week and I’m ashamed of myself for not walking out during that movie. The room is better than that.

cuminyermum

The way I figured it out was by paying attention to how she acted with other male friends. I thought it was definitely flirting when she rested her hand on my knee or her head on my shoulder or randomly asked for a tight hug etc... until I started seeing her do it with every other platonic friend she had. Some girls are just touchy like that when they're comfortable.

Vagabond21

Thanks. I guess I’ll have to pay more attention then.

sindher

How long have you known them and how close are you?

Vagabond21

Like maybe 3.5 years or something. But like, I would see her maybe twice a year in that time. I don’t think we’re close, we don’t talk, text, or hangout outside of the few times we would be in the same place.

sindher

I genuinely think its a case of her being nice but also her feeling very comfortable around you to do those things. A hug and kiss on the cheek doesn't really mean much and like you've said, you don't really communicate outside of when you hang out a few times.

Vagabond21

Thanks for your perspective. Do you think it would be worth to bring this up to make sure I’m not crossing any lines?

sindher

Nahh, I wouldn't - I think it would in turn make her overthink and analyse every interaction she's ever had whereas you've noticed it and can understand that she is being friendly and is super comfortable around you. Take that last part as a compliment mate, a lot of women aren't generally comfortable around men until they get to know them

Vagabond21

The funny thing is I wouldn’t thought anything about it until some guy noticed how me and her acted around each other and had to ask what was up. For transparency, I do like her and am attracted to her, but she’s had a boyfriend for as long as known her so I’ve never thought about it.

Zillak

That crosses way too many lines for me for a girl that's in a committed relationship. I'm not muslim anymore but I still grew up in a conservative culture so maybe I'm still biased in that regard. But if I knew my girlfriend was kissing guy friends on the cheeks and resting her head on their shoulders I'd honestly break up. Maybe the guy's fine with that though, idk. But the vast majority of dudes aren't.

Vagabond21

Thanks for your perspective

14-05-2005

How do you greet female friends and relatives? The kiss and hug is exactly what i have 0 issue with, it's how you greet them at least in my circle.

Zillak

>relatives A hug is fine for a relative, just not a female cousin or something. Friends just a handshake or a high five or something

14-05-2005

Fair enough, it's really about different cultures then here a kiss in each cheek is very normal behaviour.

Vagabond21

A kiss on the cheek is such an abnormal thing for me as an American for a greeting.

Zillak

>it's really about different cultures then here a kiss in each cheek is very normal behaviour. Here it's only if she's your aunt or something, or say someone who took care of you growing up, etc. But yeah it's about culture. It might be old school now, but for example in the west a man kissing a lady's hand is a polite gentlemanly thing to do even if she's married. In the middle east it's more of a sign of gratitude and very deep respect to one of your parents or elders. Or your wife/fiancée to signify deep love, not something you do casually.

[deleted]

Bruh I've not once seen a man kissing a lady's hand except in movies depicting (edit: pre-)WW2

14-05-2005

That's mental behaviour for someone who's apparently commited lmao, whatever floats yours, hers, and her boyfriends boat but that's crossing lines to me.

Vagabond21

What specifically crosses the line for you?

14-05-2005

>At one point she rested her head on my shoulder when talking, so naturally I rested my head on her head Wouldn't like seeing my wife resting her head on someone else's shoulder tbh, him resting back aswell, but that's me, i've always been a bit jealous. Hug and kiss is whatever to me altough i take back the 1st part of my comment it looks harsh and i've no idea about yours and hers relationship to comment like that.

Vagabond21

Like me and her don’t really hangout or spend time together (in a group setting or alone) that often. Every time I’ve seen her, she’s always just been really nice to me. Like we don’t text or anything, but she’s always just nice and talks to me when we see each other.

foozballguy

Long shot, anyone have an extra RSVP for the FA cup watch party in NYC on Tuesday or Wednesday?

_LebronsHairline_

Gym goers, recently got back into it and am taking it more seriously than ever before, really trying to get into some good lean muscular shape. Few questions, and I know there’s a lot of right answers and it just depends on preference imo, but just looking for some opinions on the following: Shoulders in general, to make them look nice what’s important to hit? Specifically rear delts too, just a weakness of mine I noticed. In the past I just trusted my back exercises to get the rear delts involved but im thinking I need to specifically target it. Middle/lower traps and rhomboids. That upper back area right around your spine. I always feel my lats working hard which is great but I really wanna feel it in the middle of my back.

PassTimeActivity

Do shoulder exercises on cable. The way the tension is applied is slightly different on cables compared to dumbbells and it can really benefit for growing shoulder muscles.

YQB123

Shoulders: - front, rear, and side delta. Do an exercise that targets each. If you're doing bench press you're targeting your front delt quite a bit. Up to you if you think that's enough for that day. Rear delts: - do these motherfuckers:  https://youtube.com/shorts/l8zw-U7c4wk?si=Ix_6K068l5Emje_O Mid back: - back rows, no? Cable rows specifically, like this: https://youtube.com/shorts/NEB2vCo83WY?si=KCuceYxa8gJS5cM0 Hope that helps :)

AnIntoxicatedRodent

Always wondered this, isn't the term "single comment thread" an oxymoron or am I getting it wrong?

HalfMan-HalfMoth

Depends how you interpret it I suppose. One way would be me replying to this is part of this single comment thread among the others in the larger ftf thread But if you look at it in the way that a thread has to contain multiple comments so cant be a single comment thread then yeah it would be

Rigelmeister

On platforms where who reacted is visible (say, if you like a comment on Instagram, it shows who liked it) I react positively to posts in which I'm attacked. Someone types "lmao shut up you idiot"? I like it. I love the possible confusion and terror it provides. Imagine fighting randomly with a stranger on the internet and they suddenly just like your posts, not saying anything back. That's my "edgy teenager" equivalent of "guilty pleasure".

Destroyeh

reminds me of that guy who'd start conversations with his haters and see how fast he change their mood

Evans_Gambiteer

Going to be driving a manual for the first time in nearly a decade, because I'm going to go test drive a GR86. I'm not a huge car guy but I'm young-ish and single, so I'm looking to upgrading to a more "fun" car without spending a ton and trying to decide between a GR86 and a miata

[deleted]

Amelie is a weird film. It wasn't bad. I don't know how to better articulate it but at times it felt like nothing was happening. 7.5/10.

Rusiano

I found the movie slightly boring. However the score, the cinematography, the characters, everything else about the movie was completely beautiful. And it has such a distinctly beautiful warm vibe that very few movies can emulate.

[deleted]

I thought the colours were fantastic. I think they did a better job than Wes Anderson. Wes Anderson's colour usage is too artificial. I know he's not saying that [this](https://images.miaburton.com/magazine/wes-anderson-s-the-french-dispatch.jpg) is totally normal but in Amelie I would believe it all does look like that. The carnival the those trees by the buildings.

_LebronsHairline_

Ah it’s too cute, I caught the re-release as well after having not seen it in over a decade, loved it both times. Just a lot of very French fun. Audrey Tatou is amazingly charming

[deleted]

I don't mind cute films tbh. I'm a sucker for a decent romcom but this film didn't hook me. There's something about the ebb and flow of the story itself. I liked how at the end even though she tried to make the creepy stalker guy and the till lady happy, it simply didn't work. It wasn't meant to be. I first saw Audrey Tatou in L'Auberge Espagnole and was super excited to see how she was in Amelie.

wonderful_mixture

I have a fetish for French movies but I could never get into that movie. I agree that it's weird, and not the good kind of weird. The soundtrack is fantastic though

[deleted]

The thing for me is that I would dip in and out of interest in the film. Idk what it is I may have to watch it again and see if I can pinpoint what parts I divert from. Great soundtrack at the very least.

YQB123

Favourite French films?

[deleted]

Personally, I'm a big fan of Cédric Klapisch's [L'Auberge Espagnole aka The Spanish Apartment.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Auberge_espagnole)

Meeeeehhhh

Hold on. Let me see if I have roof access so I can look around and give you an accurate count. Edit: I don't :(. But I'll also guess fifteen.

goztrobo

Guys what the fuck is that match in Qatar. What did I just see with my eyes?

No_Doubt_About_That

What match - who is/was playing?

lostdiscoball

tbh I didn't realize this was today but it's Match 4 Hope featuring a bunch of youtubers and a couple of pro footballers [link to match livestream on youtube](https://www.youtube.com/live/onU11o_pq6U?si=VxlMoPhKPUpOVJsa)

Zepz367

I've learned to never trust people on reddit when talking about other countries, because whenever they talk about my country they always get most basic shit hilariously wrong

AnIntoxicatedRodent

That's people talking anywhere about anything haha. Especially online and especially about things you know for a fact they have zero first hand experience with. And no I'm not above that but I personally find some kind of enjoyment in being proven wrong or being presented with an argument that I don't agree with at all.

[deleted]

That's most people.

Zepz367

True

babygrenade

I hear all Serbians are lactose intolerant

No_Doubt_About_That

Inspired by a BAFTA Games poll, who would we say is the most iconic video game character of all time?

YQB123

Mario. Then Sonic/Pacman, maybe. Didn't Pokémon predate the animated series? So Pikachu too, maybe.

official_bagel

Easily Mario. Can't imagine a compelling argument for anyone else.

Meeeeehhhh

It’s definitely Mario, annoying as he is. The best is Geralt of Rivea. Every decision I made in the Witcher 3 was based on what I thought he’d do, to honour his badassary. I mean [how hype is this trailer?](https://youtu.be/c0i88t0Kacs?si=fpLsf2GNxOVnsg-o)

Princecoyote

Geralt would have stuck the baby in the oven too

JesusIsNotPLProven

The best is Solid Snake

Xycket

You, the player.

JesusIsNotPLProven

Has to be Mario or Sonic

Zepz367

Steve for me, but Mario for majority probably

HalfMan-HalfMoth

Mario probably

Idiotech41

bad philosophy knowledge is so much worse than no philosophy knowledge if you know nothing about philosophy, you're alright. maybe miss some aspects of introspection or literary analysis, but that's honestly fine. if you *badly* know philosophy, you're annoying to talk to.

JesusIsNotPLProven

> if you badly know philosophy, you're annoying to talk to. Yeah but i say it anyways because "without thinking if it should or could, it went and did it".

wonderful_mixture

particularly those who misunderstand Nietzsche

Idiotech41

bad knowledge of Nietzche: you're pathetic to be around bad knowledge of Plato/Aristotle: pretentious, goes to the gym bad knowledge of Sun Tzu: you're a martial artist who likes to talk about The Art of War too much

OmastarLovesDonuts

Anyone who talks too much about The Art of War clearly hasn't read it because a good chunk of it is stuff like "make sure your army has enough supplies" and "if your army is unhappy they will fight worse"

AnIntoxicatedRodent

I mean those are like the most important fundamentals so of course a good chunk is about that. If I were to read The Art of War and subsequently talk about how it was all about that it would be akin to me reading the Brothers Karamazov and subsequently giving a lecture about how bad of a father Fyodor is. It's a fundamental aspect but it's the most obvious and least interesting thing to talk about.

SnarlsChickens

Came across "About Time" while flipping the telly for content to watch a couple of days ago. Been an age since I watched it. Time travel isn't my favourite genre to watch, but it was very affecting, emotive, thought provoking. I may watch it over the weekend. Domhnall Gleeson has such an unassuming, affable stage presence.

Princecoyote

It's really good, although as someone whose father died when it does cause lots of tears.

_LebronsHairline_

One of my favorite comfort movies

JesusIsNotPLProven

People who "love" to travel, let me tell you a little secret.. Everybody loves to fucking travel, you just have time and money.

TroopersSon

With regards to the money thing, that really depends on where you are going and where you decide to stay. I went traveling around India for 3 months, and it cost me about the same as 1 month's expenses in my hometown would have done. I didn't have to save that much money to be able to afford it. I recognise there's still a degree of privilege there that I had my health and a job that allowed me to save. However, I'm just an average guy who was brought up in a household that relied on government benefits to survive month to month. I just prioritised traveling because that's what I enjoy.

TherewiIlbegoals

I'm fairly certain David Mitchell doesn't love to travel.

TroopersSon

Karl Pilkington came to mind for me.

L-Freeze

It’s an euphemism for “I’m boring but pretty well off”

mitorandiro

i hear you but i don't particularly love traveling and there are dozens of us.

A_Round_of_Gwent

Guess I don't exist then, because I don't like the idea of traveling (I'm also broke AF but even if I had money, traveling would be the least of my concerns)

Zepz367

Yeah I don't like it too. I don't get the appeal tbh

EyeSpyGuy

You don’t want to see other countries?

Zepz367

I want to, but it isn't like I would travel everywhere if I had money. I would probably travel to some other country maybe once a year if I had money

1PSW1CH

I love luxury travelling, wouldn’t catch me backpacking round SE Asia

egzon27

Hah, exactly

blaahh198

Nah, there definitely are people who don't like to travel. I am unfortunately part of the shitty category, where I like to travel but I am poor

icemankiller8

I don’t like travelling at all

lastdyingbreed_01

For anyone who likes Linkin Park, they just dropped a new song, check it out

BigBlackBobbyB

Germany legalises weed and my dumb ass moves to austria

FerraristDX

Eh, Austria's not bad either. Leberkässemmel and Wiener Schnitzel are just as good.

TheSingleMan27

He could have both of these perfectly good in Bavaria, additionally to the weed

Sandwichmaker2011

Both notably impossible to find in Bavaria

Rigelmeister

Where is Anschluss when you need it

VinceRussoShoots

In German, when does the past tense form of a verb end in the ~t suffix? Such as gemalt for instance I'm always used to seeing past tense forms ending in their base form suffix, so I wonder when the above situation applies

PassTimeActivity

I think its to do with regular and irregular verbs. Regular perfekt verbs end with -t but irregular end with -en.

aisthesis17

Quick googling says it's -t for weak/regular verbs (kaufen - gekauft) as well as 'mixed' verbs(?) (brennen - gebrannt), while it's -en for strong verbs (sehen - gesehen). Maybe head over to r/german for a more qualified answer though.

lastdyingbreed_01

Dragon Ball Z might be the most shonen and predicatable anime, but very few moments hyped me as much as UI Goku did lol

G_Morgan

Dragonball is the one everyone copied so sure it is predictable.

Hoodxd

Not every manga/anime needs a complicated and deep story. Sometimes you just want cool stuff

Zillak

Just wait until heads up display Goku walks in😤

CoolstorySteve

Twitter replies were never good but now you just have random people simply retyping out the entire tweet as a reply. It’s so bad

justaregulargye

Tell me one (ideally healthy) vegan / vegetarian dish from your country / culture that one can make at home

Mitch_Itfc

My partner cooks up some vegan tteokbokki every few weeks, usually have it as a snack. It’s not healthy but I love it. Like a good tofu hot pot as well, decently healthy. We normally add butternut squash, mangetout, bok choi and kimchi to it.

mitorandiro

every dish has meat in it in brazil but you can make a mean vegan feijoada (it's gonna be hard to find great cassava flour to make a top tier farofa though). moqueca de banana da terra goes hard as well, but bear in mind that finding every ingredient could be difficult too depending where you are

HalfMan-HalfMoth

Beans on toast Our greatest culinary minds at work for this one

[deleted]

All usually have meat, so you'd need to adapt: 🇦🇷 locro 🇺🇸 chili 🇺🇦 holubtsi

nask00

You can make Moussaka (the Bulgarian edition) with soya mince instead of meat and I there is literally no difference. I have been vegetarian for 3 years now, but my grandfather doesn't know yet. Everytime I go home mom makes Moussaka with soya mins and grandad still hasn't noticed it's without meat.

Koshari is the Egyptian national dish and it is vegan. It consists of two different types of pasta rice lentils fried onions and tomato sauce. It's popular for a simple reason it taste amazing and provide a very cheap energy source for workers. Here is a recipe: https://youtu.be/bGM2gh4bxmM?si=pHpZZKqmTDrBtiZx

Kind of thing I was looking for, great!

Meeeeehhhh

Not my country but my BIL is South Korean and vegan bibimbap slaps, vegetarian is even better if you eat eggs. Like it’s maybe the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

TherewiIlbegoals

Man, bibimbap in the stone bowls with the crispy rice is amazing. I don't mind vegetarian but beef bibimbap is one of my favourite dishes out there.

Meeeeehhhh

Yeah and my BIL makes the best I’ve ever had. I made the mistake of telling my sister it makes me happier than seeing my nephews though so I’m rarely treated to it anymore. I wasn’t lying though 😭

I have a good friend that always complains about getting no women and comes to me to ask for dating advice. I give him practical advice, he changes nothing, and then just complains again. I always was pretty blunt and realistic with him, but after like the 6th time of him complaining I kinda just told him off - albeit not too harshly. He's a decent looking guy (although could probably do with losing like 10lbs and a fashion revamp) with his own place and a good job, but he simply never puts himself in the position to talk to women. He works remotely and has a gym in his apartment building, so his daily schedule basically is just wake up, walk downstairs and workout for 45 minutes, work 9-5, play video games and cook/eat dinner, then go to bed at 10. Like dude the most you leave your house during the day is to walk 5 minutes to grab a sandwich, you're living a prison lifestyle. And all he does on the weekends is play in a basketball league and then play video games. I'm like bro you aren't even putting yourself in a position to meet a chick by accident much less on purpose. Do you think one is going to fall into your lap or something? ---------------------------------------------- I'm venting but damn it's hard to try to drag someone out of a pit when they make zero effort to change, then just complain.

FerraristDX

Maybe you should imagine you're your namesake and your friend is Jon and you should just give him snarky answers. /s

He's probably scared of going to new places, but doesn't want to admit it

dem503

You did the right thing. Something else to point out; its not that his lifestyle was forced on him. He chose the no commmute, creature comforts and self reliant living. It has its pros and cons, this is a definite con. Maybe go down the constructive route and ask him what he would talk about on a date, and lead it into the type of girl he would like to date, and then what activites would lead to him meeting this girl.

GarfieldDaCat

The main thing I've tried to drive home with him is that he doesn't even put himself in any situations to socialize with women much less have a romantic opportunity with one. I have a group of friends (men and women) that I socialize and go out with and I always invite him, but he says no or flakes like 80% of the time. Look I love to play video games, but I think it just takes up too much of his life. He plays free-to-play shit like Hearthstone that is designed to make you addicted as possible. He's basically perma-online. Even when he's working he almost always has a game open in another tab. I know this because we live close to each other and sometimes on slow days I'll bring my laptop and portable monitor over and we'll remote work together. > Maybe go down the constructive route and ask him what he would talk about on a date, and lead it into the type of girl he would like to date, and then what activites would lead to him meeting this girl. The problem is he's super inexperienced. The only woman he's been with is basically just a relationship that fell into his lap in university. I don't think he really knows how to have an adult social life lol. And I'm not talking about partying or getting drunk. I like the occasional drink or two, but I personally partake like once every 4-6 weeks for health reasons.

One of the worst things I’ve done in my life is to move from pc to laptop. It’s like my tech life regressed by 10 years. PC supremacy is so clear. Now I gotta get a new pc and it ain’t cheap.

holdenmyrocinante

Google is going to use Reddit to train a Language model. How racist do you think the model will be? Also, do you think the model will think Mbappe is a striker or will it insist he isn't?

L-Freeze

that one guy's comment history is going to single-handedly convince the AI that Mbappe is a touchline winger

Zepz367

It wil probably develop a hatred for Serbs, Turks and Palestinians

sewious

Unsure but it'll be a Liverpool fan I think

TheUltimateScotsman

Nah, it'll just hate every thing. That's not limited to football. It will hate kids, anime, movies, TV shows, it will hate Taylor swift, it will hate every other country out there. It will hate the country it's hosted in.

Running in the rain is such an elite feeling, never felt so alive

DrunkenRedditMan

Light mist is the ideal running weather, but a torrential downpour of freezing rain is misery inducing

rjtwe

I hate setting out into the rain on a run but if it starts pissing it down mid way through... that's heaven.

nask00

Next level is swimming during a rain. I fucking love that.

tomtea

Did that a few times....the smell of my running shoes afterwards put me off for life.

FerraristDX

Just do like Daniel Ricciardo, pour champagne into it and drink. /s

Couple of winters ago I went for a long run in the snow. Bit of a blizzard that day. I remember coming home and a neighbour laughing at me as a I ran by. Had an inch on snow on my head. It was brilliant.
