Pavard has 54 caps, most as a right back, where he's very mid (at best) tbh. He already had YEARS of France calls because of that goal and WC18. Most french people knows he sucks as RB, but yeah DD has his favorites.
Agreed. He's probably even Bayern's most consistent defender since he arrived, and he's also had a a great season for Inter. He's incredibly underrated.
Brother, just watch his games with the NT, he's been nothing but very mid at Right back for years. He's very lucky that there is very little competition for the Right back spot otherwise he would have been cut form the NT a long time ago. But his 2018 goal and him being able to play both centrally and rightback is why he is still there.
I can count on one hand the number of good games he's had at right back with the NT.
Still thankfull for THAT goal though.

You didn't watch the games clearly. I don't care if he's Maradona at Bayern, he was average at best most of the time with France, and even pretty bad many many times. He was so terrible, even Deschamps had to put him on the bench after the first match at WC22.
Just because he’s isn’t binning up and down the flank doesn’t mean he’s mid, you don’t have to play like Alves/Marcelo to be a good Fullback. He’s just a more conservative type of Fullback compared to current expectations of FBs.
Then he underperformed with France because at Bayern he was very good as RB and every Bayern fan was frustrated he wanted to play CB because there were not a lot of players with his skill available for the RB position (until Kimmich came back to being a RB I guess)

He's not mid at best at rb You don't play rb for a strong Bayern side if you're a mid player. He's a solid player.

He’s won a World Cup with France and played many seasons for massive clubs now with Bayern and Inter. He is good
