82% is a good pass, you can even do a degree

my_achy_breaky_heart

Thank you so much! Definitely, unfortunately I didn't have the funds to look into studying but found a wonderful institution. All I need is to get a steady job... I appreciate your kind words!

bobs_burgers01

That's completely understandable. Have you tried being funded by nsfas? My undergrad was funded by nsfas Also, if you can work and save for a degree it will be well worth it as I'm sure you'll get accepted.

my_achy_breaky_heart

I have unfortunately they require documentation from my parents which we're no longer in contact. It's a long story but I have been trying. So unfortunately I'm on my own.

bobs_burgers01

I'm very sorry to hear that! Try emailing or phoning (best bet) nsfas to see what you can do in regards to no longer being in contact with your parents maybe there is something they can do. At least it'll fund your degree if it works out

sanguine_silverback

So I know that maybe this isn't the path you wanted but if you send your CV to a school and apply for a student teacher post at a decent school, they'll pay you a salary plus pay for your degree. It often doesn't even have to be a teaching degree. If you want to go into to marketing, you can look at teaching art, english or drama while studing a marketing degree. The absolute ideal would be a private school with a boarding house, you'll get accommodation plus more money every month (15-22k after tax) Yes, it's hard. But that's why they always are looking to employ young smart hard working people

[deleted]

Came to say the same. One does not simply pass with 82% avg.

Fernxtwo

Your CV looks like a menu and is hard to read. I look at the fonts again and layout.

Harling_FTW

Great job posting it here. As you said, this is not your CV, but you'll get constructive critism on how to advertise yourself better. On top of what was mentioned before, think about what the employer might want to know. With 100s of applications that they'll probably need to go through, they're not going to ask you to elaborate. I would add durations to my past employment so that the employer can get a better sense of my skills/experience. I would also try to remove unnecessary reading. In my opinion the Sector headings can be dropped. Also have a look at canva.com from resume templates. There are many free templates you could use.

my_achy_breaky_heart

Hi there. Please take note this is not my cv, but a quick photo portfolio to avoid typing out everything on a post. As mentioned, some sensitive information was removed possibly why. I appreciate your feedback.

Bobthebrain2

I think it looks pretty cool to be honest. I didn’t struggle with the layout, or fonts. Best of luck in your search!

BeingJess

While looking for work in Durban don't overlook the possibility of remote work. With your experience in customer service, you can get some work for companies overseas. I have a friend who could not find work in SA (also a support consultant) and now has a job for a company in the US - she earns USD and works shifts. Indeed and Glassdoor are great websites to upload your CV and create alerts. Also if you google "support consultant remote work" you'll find several websites and postings that could also help.

BeingJess

Also - I strongly suggest using a website like [resume.io](https://resume.io) to create your CV (it's free) so it is in line with best standards.

sirDVD12

LinkedIn can create a CV as well from your profile. And it is made to work with ATS (I think its called ATS)

my_achy_breaky_heart

Hi there, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Yes, I have been applying for remote positions as well although they are very scarce. I've applied for every position so far that's related to my experience but with no luck. I appreciate your help!

BeingJess

Definitely update your cv using [resume.io](https://resume.io) so that it is in line with best standards. While you wait for an opportunity to land consider bartending. Good luck!!! You are going to get past this bump in the road. Just be persistent!!!

andrewmc147

Yip, remote work is an amazing opportunity for a South African. As soon as I got a remote job I travelled to Thailand (December 2019). Met someone there after 3 days who is now my wife. Corona came and we spent 8 months in Vietnam, then back to SA then to Turkey and now in Austria. All thanks to remote work. Enjoy your life, it can be as good as you want it to be :)

Stunning-Apricot-636

What is the company please because I myself would like to earn USD and move to SA to work remote 😩 that would be my dream actually

BeingJess

She works for Amazon

Stunning-Apricot-636

of COURSE she works for ~~Satan~~ Amazon

BeingJess

If you aren't asked to sacrifice humans when working for Amazon realise that you are the human being sacrificed.

Stunning-Apricot-636

I'm already angry about how intensely they are underpaying her just so we can have instant access to obscene amounts of landfill fodder. I hate it here

BeingJess

She's earning dollars with a SA exchange rate and with the way things are going with SA and US relations over Israel it's quite likely the Zar is going to keep getting weaker. Greenback goes far in this here neck of the woods and with half the country unemployed a reliable job is everything.

itzzitzz

If you say you’re detail oriented, show it on your cv. For example use a consistent font and size as well as consistent capitalisation. (T in tasks is lowercase). Not a criticism but I would pass this cv on that because it breaks my ability to trust the rest of the things the cv says. Please take it as advice only.

muhsinplaysgames

What a cute CV, I just got my CV from Microsoft word

HerPurse01

Hellos, I’m not sure if it’s still open, but there by checkers the clicks over there had a few vacancies regarding sales. Even if you look for something in town or like umhlanga you can come right or even a call centre the ones in umhlanga pay nice, I was at cci last year and was making like 6k basic. There are better ones but I only found those out when I had already left to study, even with studying you can look for bursaries. I found a bursary called COID I think it’s something to do with the government but ik they pay my my ex was on it when she was studying and she got paid out full tuition and residency plus a stipend, trust me you the stipend is as good as a basic paycheck. If you find something please plug me also cos I’m currently looking for something, I done business analysis in uni and am looking for anything IT related I know a few coding languages as well

Effective_Dress_6037

I'm in the recruitment game, if you are set up for looking for remote work, try Job Duck, but add every software you are proficient in on your Cv, it's what they look for. It's US hours and not super great pay, but its a start.

CrocanoirZA

Your CV needs to include the dates you worked at your various positions. Just from what is there it looks like you bounced around a lot in 7 years which is a red flag . If you put in dates it might improve your prospects to at least get an interview. It's also a bit confusing that you say you're looking into studying Marketing Management but that's not the area you say your strengths lie. Change your potential studies to what you want to work as.

MackieFried

The best way to start earning immediately is by signing on at a temp agency. You get paid weekly to my knowledge. Hopefully you have your own wheels so that you NEVER turn down an assignment. If you get a call at 12 to say start at one, accept the assignment. The more reliable you are the more work you'll get. Years ago, when I temped, every company I worked for offered me a job. Obviously some of the jobs offered were not financially suitable but all the offers were very encouraging. Plus temping gives you a good or bad name at an agency. If good the agency will be recommending you for permanent work very soon. Good luck.

Ok_Statistician_2478

Can you elaborate on this? What do you mean temp agency?

MackieFried

Just as you get a recruitment agency for permanent vacancies there are temp agencies that supply temporary staff for certain categories of job. It can be for one day or one year etc but the agency is your employer, not whichever company you go work for. It's been many years since I worked, but I'm sure they must still exist. An example could be that the Receptionist calls in with Covid and the company does not have someone to fill in for her for a week. So they call a temp agency and arrange for a temp for that job until the full time employee returns to work. Or someone goes on maternity leave for 6 months and the company gets a temp in to keep the job ticking over until the permanent employee returns. Temps normally receive an hourly wage without benefits. Does that help you?

lebonisang

I thought this was a wedding invitation.

my_achy_breaky_heart

It is an invitation! An invitation to look at my skills & experiences, an invitation of possibility! Creativity usually catches the eye more than a regular post, that's why you're here! So glad you like it!! Have a lovely day!!

CompleteRazzmatazz33

Don't take this the wrong way but that's a terrible CV.

meerkatjie87

Maybe consider doing a year on cruise liners, I don't have contacts but my SIL did it and she paid off a massive student debt. It's hard work but you might well be able to fund your studies.

my_achy_breaky_heart

That's amazing! I appreciate the time you took to respond! I appreciate it.

meerkatjie87

Of course, happy to help

saboerseun

That’s such a nice CV. Well done and all the best and much good luck!! Lots of success!!

my_achy_breaky_heart

That's so sweet. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Cross fingers!!

Harling_FTW

ChemEngDS

You could probably temp as a teacher at your school, or one close to you. You could also possibly start temp-ing at one of the old age homes, since your experience and aptitude would help. Don’t rule out remote work, you could possibly mark matric scripts as well. Vet clinics usually require assistance, so that may be another avenue. Keep your head up!

my_achy_breaky_heart

You're such a ray of sunshine, and I needed that. Thank you. I've been applying, finger crossed. We do what we can. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I hope you have a lovely day!

arrowsgopewpew

“Looking into diploma for..” means nothing tbh.

Oksomeoneactually

It helps manage my expectation as a potential employer that studying part time might be a reality for her during her tenure with me. Also to allocate tasks that might help her grow into her desired career - marketing related

my_achy_breaky_heart

I'm so glad I saw this. The silver lining I've been looking for. Thank you so much! And I hope you have a fantastic week!

my_achy_breaky_heart

It means I am hopeful that I will find employment and be able to pay for my studies this year on my own, it means I have ambition and know in what direction I want to go and it means I'm dedicated... tbh. We should all learn to look at the glass as half full and never half empty. The world is too full of bitterness. Thank you for your feedback.

arrowsgopewpew

My thoughts behind it is that, if I was the hiring manager, it could say “looking into Harvard doctoral program” but it doesn’t mean you got in or even have the designation yet. So why would I use this as a criteria for hiring you? Personally, I would not. My constructive feedback would be to re-word it then to “Diploma for Marketing Management Candidate, 2024”,.. if I read this then I would be more inclined to bring you in for an interview/phone call. Good luck with the job hunt!

lebonisang

I thought this was a wedding invitation.

HalfOtherwise9519

I'd hire you if you're willing to move to America

my_achy_breaky_heart

I'd love more information about the opportunity.

WISE_MAN_FROM_mars

Worst cv of all time

my_achy_breaky_heart

Please take note this is not a cv, but a quick portfolio for socials. Alot of sensitive information was removed. Also, in future, kindly refrain from negative comments. If it's not helpful or kind of nature, keep it to yourself. Bitterness gets us nowhere. Focus on the positives!! I hope you have a lovely day!

Tokogogoloshe

Pro tip. I know this is boring, but often you CV is fed into an app that looks for keywords to filter if there are enough of them to warrant an actual human to take a look at it. While nice looking, those apps won’t pick up any of those words in your CV because of the layout and fonts. As I said, single column and standard font is the best. Unless you get lucky and a super creative person sees it and gives it a read. Maybe working for someone like that would suit your personality best.

my_achy_breaky_heart

Please take note this is not a cv, but a quick portfolio for socials. I have a separate CV ATS friendly. I just did this to share on socials, something creative always catches people's eye more than a post! Thanks for the helpful tips!!

Tokogogoloshe

Ah. I didn’t know that. It definitely will catch people’s eye.
