I came to say exactly this. I have two Korats, they’re brothers, and they are almost twins, except Candy has a little primordial pouch and Spirit doesn’t.
I call every cat fat cat... but in my defense I call all my pets fat boy or chunkamunk lovingly.
My cat WAS overweight and now he isn't, but he'll always be fat boy to me ♡
Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only person who does this, lol! 😂
I call my girl "fat" all the time, mostly because she's always begging for food. She'll even do the thing where she cries at me for food, so I give her a meal, then she'll go up to my partner 5 minutes later and pretend to be starving in the hopes he'll feed her again (or vice versa), and it's worked a few times!! Now, we know to ask the other person if they just fed her, lol!
I also call her fat when she tries to do some fancy parkour to get into the windowsill or whatever and fails spectacularly. 🤣 Or whenever I jiggle her FUPA.
It's all said with love, of course. 🥰 I love that cat more than just about anyone and anything on earth!
My youngest 3-year-old is about 13+ lbs. He is both big boned and chonky. He had an episode as a kitten where he became quite emaciated and so his body now has what we call the "thrifty gene" turned on. He puts on and keeps on weight very easily. We just watch what he eats and don't allow him to overeat. He also has a large primordial pouch, but with us keeping an eagle eye on him, it's not down to his ankles anymore! Overall his body shape is perfect. But he is definitely a Squish mallow!! He's also very strong and extremely athletic, able to jump to Heights that surprise us! No offense intended, but we always say that he jumps well for a fat kid!
Edited to say that your boy is very handsome! Love that face!
Next time your cat is at the vet, ask them! They are great at explaining what a healthy weight looks like in this breed. Having said that, your cat looks a lot like my biggest sphynx, even with the pouch, so I think we are both good.
ahhh my b i read it as people were directly calling the cat fat like to the cat lol. i get asked the same question by non cat owners and usually just explain what a primordial pouch is & that spay/neuter causes it to sag more. that was before my cat actually became fat, now i agree and explain his diet plan and that he just chonky no matter what i do 🥲
Your house goblin looks to be in great shape! All cats have the pouch, and it's perfectly normal for Sphynxes to have a bigger than average beer belly due to the lack of hair (in fact, I'd heard that a flat belly might be a warning sign, but I'm not a vet, so take this with a grain of salt).
If he's otherwise fine and his weight doesn't yo-yo dramatically, I wouldn't worry. But if you're concerned, asking a vet is always the best thing!
If you look up standards for the breed, a primordial pouch is normal. Regular cats usually have one, too, but their fur hides it. I mean, they’re not greyhounds with little wasp waists— they’re cats!
He’s not fat! My Hades looks the same and the vet always says he’s healthy! They just carry a fanny pack around for essentials! 😆 I call him fatzel pretzel all the time tho. Is just funny.
Looks exactly like mine that weighs just over 9 pounds, we were at the vet two weeks ago and she SWORE its weight was fine. I also think it's getting chonky and many friends have commented as well, but I'll trust the professional on this one.
He could maybe lose a *little* weight, but he's not so overweight you need to be greatly altering his diet. One of mine is the same way when loafing or laying down. His pouch makes him look enormous.
If you can Trace alone his spine and feel the bones like the top of your knuckles you’re good, if it feels like the bottom of your knuckles palm side up no bueno.
Ehhh, I would just ask your vet. My sphynx looks a little like him and my vet said the big reason they decided he was slightly overweight is he had more fat deposits over his ribs (the pouch was not considered). We call him Mr. Chunkalicious now, but it’s more out of love than fat shaming.
Nope, just shaped funny.
Not related, but my dog is shaped like your boy. I'm always correcting people. "No, she's not pregnant. No, she hasn't given birth. She's just shaped like a busted can of Pillsbury biscuit dough".
Always good if your pets have a little bit extra fat as my vets say (avian vet and normal vet for my cats and dog) here's why :
If your pet stops eating or have issues processing food due to illness and they're already skinny, perfect weight, it might actually put their life in danger.
If they're a little bit chubby they can burn through their fat while they can't eat or process food correctly. It gives them more chances to recover and more time for the treatment to be effective.
My vet for my female bengal doesn't really like that she's a perfect weight because if she ever gets sick, it gives her less chances because she barely doesn't have any fat as she's extremely active. We take her on walks (harness + leash) and she jumps, climbs everywhere.
Also if your vet says it's okay and he's not worried about his weight (as in he's not too overweight) do not listen to people.
Its hard to tell from just a picture, but he is by no means obese.
The Royal Canin Body Condition Score for cats has some good information about how to decide what number category they fall into [RCW BCS Cat](https://www.cwvet.co.uk/blog/2020/09/03/body-condition-score/)
Our male has the same pouch. He is also a large boy. We nicknamed him fatty, but in reality, he really isn’t fat. He weighs about 12 pounds. In fact, he looks a lot like your boy.
I also have a cat with a pouch. It makes me chuckle to see it swing from side to side when he trots over to me. He's such a good boy because he allows me to jiggle it and actually seems to enjoy it!
All cats male/female neutered/spayed house cat/tiger have this. It’s called a primordial pouch. Although it’s not certain researches believe it stores excess fat they can later burn off, stretching and protection. It’s a simple search so I didn’t attach a refference. Lots of articles on the topic.
The sag is his/her pouch which is normal, but the cat is also pudgy. People on here are distracted by the pouch but the fact of the matter is this breed, like the siamese, should have a long tubular body. You should be able to visually see the contour of the rubs just a little and when you run your hand on the sides gently you should be able to easily palpate the ribs.
Certainly not in bad shape. If you leave food out just go to feeding once or twice a day and play with the cat here and there and the problem will be solved. Don't lose sleep over it there are far fatter cats
No, he’s not fat. That’s a primordial pouch. [This may help](https://protectapet.com/blogs/blog/is-my-cat-overweight)
Thank you so much !
A wizard’s sleeve. A little purse. Speed flap. Giblets. The goods.
The goods is my favorite lol
FUPA!
Mouse pouch!
Front butt
Not to be confused with a primordial couch
I came to say exactly this. I have two Korats, they’re brothers, and they are almost twins, except Candy has a little primordial pouch and Spirit doesn’t.
My mom is 69 & calls her own stomach her primordial pouch 😅
I'm stealing this material!! 🤣🤣
Came here to say this! Look it up all cats have it, pretty interesting.
That pouch is very important, it’s where he keeps all his love for you
But what that pouch really does ? Keep them worm ?
It’s meant to protect their organs (I believe)
Nope, it contains extra fat, and skin helping them flex more easily and in a pinch gives them extra energy so the theory goes.
It’s two fold, one is to contain fat stores and the other is to protect sensitive organs in case of a fight
Battle pooch
Him a nice little raisin!

I've almost considered getting a sign. He does the same in trying to trick us into feeding him twice!

thank you ! i will do that for sure ! after i finish my final exams i will go with him for a routine chack
naw. send him my compliments btw he’s very cute
Thank you so much ! Gonna tell him 😂
I drew him in a spinny hat with a lollipop but I can’t put it in a comment 💔
He's cute
i think that’s just some people’s way of cooing to kitty, like lovingly calling them stinky or fat. i do this all day to my stinky kitties lol
Somebody just came to my hause 1 hour ago and asked me what I give him to eat cuz he s fat 😭
ahhh my b i read it as people were directly calling the cat fat like to the cat lol. i get asked the same question by non cat owners and usually just explain what a primordial pouch is & that spay/neuter causes it to sag more. that was before my cat actually became fat, now i agree and explain his diet plan and that he just chonky no matter what i do 🥲
Well yeah that Person is not a cat owner. I also told him that the skin bag that hanging around is because of the castration

Thank you for all the advices !

😅 Wasp Waist made me LOL
He’s not fat! My Hades looks the same and the vet always says he’s healthy! They just carry a fanny pack around for essentials! 😆 I call him fatzel pretzel all the time tho. Is just funny.
Fanny pack 😆 I’m going to ask my raisin girl what she keeps in hers.
Primordial pouch, all cats have them, domestic or not. Your cat looks fine :)
Thank you for helping me !
Na, mine look like this. 😊
That's just his primordial pouch! He's well protected in case of attack
Funny he looks EXACTLY like my cat, black nose, same shade of grey and all
Even the eye light skin highlights
Maybe they are brothers ?🤨🤣
Possibly
He looks happy, so he’s just right.
Looks exactly like mine that weighs just over 9 pounds, we were at the vet two weeks ago and she SWORE its weight was fine. I also think it's getting chonky and many friends have commented as well, but I'll trust the professional on this one.
He’s full but not fat mine is about the same maybe a little more plump lol
Not fat, but a super handsome young lad.
He is a sexy boy not lady 😭
He’s purrfect 🐈⬛
no he's super cute
As long as he isn’t dragging the transmission on the ground, he’s fine
Elbows are rich in carbs…
Look at that cutie 🥰
All I know is that he's such a cutie!
I thought the same about mine until I read up about the primordial pouch. I now respond when people say he is fat with “you are.”
Not fat, he's just got the glorious cookie pouch on display!
r/pouchcatatoes
Awww, he's beautiful!
Thank you !
He's got dunlap syndrome. His belly dunlap over his feeties
Purrfectly plump
He could maybe lose a *little* weight, but he's not so overweight you need to be greatly altering his diet. One of mine is the same way when loafing or laying down. His pouch makes him look enormous.
My girl like this she does love her grub 😂
My cat probably looks the same if she didn’t have fur.
My cat looks exactly like that one but mine is female
I think your adorable turkey is a bit overcooked
You may want to chat with a vet that is familiar with the sphynx breed. I was told that you should be able to see the back ribs.
Damn boi he thick
He’s perfectly plump 😌
If you can Trace alone his spine and feel the bones like the top of your knuckles you’re good, if it feels like the bottom of your knuckles palm side up no bueno.
He looks fine to me. If he had hair it would be different but everyone can see all his little folds so maybe he just looks fatter because of that.
He looks a reasonable size for a Sphynx. Honestly I wouldn’t worry too much. I’ve one who is that size and is healthy and active.
not fat, just a delicious rotisserie chicken with char
Nope, just shaped funny. Not related, but my dog is shaped like your boy. I'm always correcting people. "No, she's not pregnant. No, she hasn't given birth. She's just shaped like a busted can of Pillsbury biscuit dough".

Nah he's just a potato body type, he fine
Purrfect
Cute chonk
Cute chonk
This cat can survive amphibious environments
Chonky yes. Try a slow diet. Beautiful baby though ❤️

No
He’s perfect!
I'd like to see these people in the nude. Bet your cat looks healthier
My Sphynx is the same size, not fat at all :)
He looks like a perfectly healthy little man to me 💜
Doesn't look like it. As long as you can feel ribs by running your hand gently along his side you're good.
He’s pudgy like every other domesticated indoor cat, as long as he’s not obese it’s no problem :)
Our male has the same pouch. He is also a large boy. We nicknamed him fatty, but in reality, he really isn’t fat. He weighs about 12 pounds. In fact, he looks a lot like your boy.
pappa 😽😽😽
yup, you have a fat cat
Their bellies show more. Not fat!
CHONK
I also have a cat with a pouch. It makes me chuckle to see it swing from side to side when he trots over to me. He's such a good boy because he allows me to jiggle it and actually seems to enjoy it!

People say this about my tortie too but she’s a big cat in general and so it makes me mad
Tell them to stop body shaming your cat
that pouch is so cuteeee 🤗
Why are they being so mean to him 😭😭
Standard belly bean boobah. Just right.
Kitty is pleasantly plump 🥰
He's not fat, he looks just right to me\~
Normally I’d say fluffy not fat…Lol. Primordial pouch!
There’s no such thing as “too fat” when it comes to cats
Not fat but he is a cutie patootie
Jesus now CATS have to have their bodies judged? It never ends
