I have no idea but the hostage-style portrait tells me this stuff probably slaps

MoistExcellence

That's a man serious about his bidness.

YungSchmid

Lmao that’s a lady

InPsychOut

Wait, is it? For years I have thought it was a dude.

YungSchmid

Yeah it’s the lady who owns the company.

Sunburned_Baby

Huabi Tao is a Chinese communist entrepreneur worth over 1 billion dollars. I’m not sure this how communism is meant to work, but I can’t argue with her results.

KaleidoscopeLucky336

From each according to his spice ability, to each according to his spice needs

daboot013

Thays no lady! It's a man baby *

Useful-Perception144

Reminds me of the Steven He joke about being the face of Beijing Corn

TheApprenticeLife

Ooooooof. yes. Got the big jar too, double ooooof. Stir it up really good, all the way from the bottom up. The magical MSG crack crystals settle at the bottom and you gotta go gettem.

Law3W

Excuse me, I need to change my underwear

sound4r

Umm so where's the oof? That's a win!

TheApprenticeLife

If you haven't busted a fat *oooooof* in a time of extreme pleasure, I don't know what to tell you.

rabbitwonker

They’re oof’ing with jealousy

[deleted]

Millennial oof, not gen z oof

RideHot9154

how do you stir it \*safely\*, i try to get to the msg but chicken out bc that oil STAINS everything it touches

TheApprenticeLife

It's less of a *stir*, and more of an *excavation*. I have a special chili oil spoon, that is shovel shaped. I push it straight down to the bottom, twist a bit to break it up, add a little angle, then slowly pull up. It's all in the wrist. You'll eventually get to be a professional, where you can do the *push-corkscrew-dig* technique in one fluid motion. Yes, I'm serious.

RideHot9154

i seriously need to master this because the bottom of my last jar was absolute heaven, and this current jar has been a letdown since then. i need to bring up more of that msg to make everything better again

TheApprenticeLife

Yeah, I just had some on leftover rice. It's the end of the jar, so it's already pretty concentrated. So damn good. If you're in the US, look for the seasoning called "Accent". It's literally just MSG. People demonize it, but in small quantities and moderate use, it's completely fine as a food additive. I use it quite a bit.

Tykras

Alternatively, see if you have an asian market around you, they sell like 1 pound bags of msg for the same price as a tiny shaker of Accent-brand msg.

TheApprenticeLife

That's actually a great reminder. I lived in an area for years that didn't have great access to Asian markets. I've since moved near some nice ones and just never thought to look. Thanks!

CrustyToeLover

Shake the jar really hard and store your jar upside down

Icy_Witness_XoXo

You described this perfectly. It’s an excavation.

Future-Entry196

“They say he carved it himself…from a bigger spoon”

TheApprenticeLife

You know what's even worse? I actually have 3 chili oil spoons...

TheManWithTheAxe__

I hear dead robloxians

Maxter_Blaster_

I love this stuff, but it’s not spicy.

stdio-lib

> I love this stuff, but it’s not spicy. I love it too, and I agree that it's not spicy, but almost every single other person I've ever met in my life (100? 200?) thinks that it's spicy. There's probably a difference between "reddit" spicy and "normal person" spicy.

MarvinNeslo

r/spicycirclejerk

Maxter_Blaster_

Lol agree. Gotta put it in perspective.

catonsteroids

It’s more so used for its flavor/umami than its heat tbh with Chinese people. Chili crisps in general aren’t really spicy to begin with but still imparts a chili flavor along with the other spices and additives in them.

IcePsychological13

Yeah, the End Flatline is spicy. This is not...

NCC_1701_74656

I didn't find it too spicy but not bad if you want to try.

HairyStyrofoam

It’s not meant to be extremely spicy lol just a little kick

NCC_1701_74656

Makes sense. I add some Ghost and Sichuan peppers for the actual kicks. 😄

GoatLegRedux

I add hotter chili oil to get the spice level up. Works like a charm

HairyStyrofoam

That sounds about right. If you’re on the higher scale of spicy, like myself, this stuff is just sweet to you.

TheDadThatGrills

Love this stuff. When I'm making wings, it's a great add-in to the ranch/blue cheese dressing served on the side.

JahCloud

Added it to some bbq sauce the other day and slapped it on some chicken legs I was grilling 💯

mh985

Mix this with sesame paste and a little black vinegar. Stir fry this sauce with noodles and some scallions. Thank me later.

cenobitepizzaparty

I just got this and can't get enough. I suspect my asshole disagrees

Snoo_90491

try it with vanilla ice cream!

Breal3030

Oh shit. I don't even like ice cream that much, but now I have an excuse to put chili crisp on something else.

iamprovidence666

Absolutely addicted...I put in on everything from my pasta and noodle dishes to my avocado toast.

ridethroughlife

I didn't know there was a big jar of this to buy. It's not spicy at all, but it seems to go in everything. I've put it in chili, shredded beef, stir fry, sandwiches, nachos [mixed in the cheese sauce], and all kinds of other stuff.

revtim

I like that one, it's not hot though. It has a nice oily chili taste.

HairyStyrofoam

Toss some of your favorite chili powder in

HairyStyrofoam

That’ll do ya.

Sanpaku

Personally, I prefer the LGM "Chili Oil with Fermented Soybeans" and (though much more expensive per g) "Oil Chili Condiments w/ Mushroom", but to each their own. Usual use is as a rice topping for very quick meals.

TheHomesteadTurkey

me too. the one with kohlrabi, peanuts and tofu is lovely as well.

slippery5lope

The only one!

Jolee5

Yes.

lisasian

Maybe my spice tolerance is messed up but this literally tastes like nothing to me.

InPsychOut

You're going to think I'm crazy, but I love to mix this about 50/50 with peanut butter or almond butter. I drain the oil as much as I can first. Outstanding combo.

IKU420

My go to stir fry sauce

HeroinHare

Yes. Not spicy, but amazing stuff.

Hannerss17

My honey and I went through the little jar in a week it’s so gooood but yes you gotta stir it up really good all the flavor packed crack crystals on the bottoms.

Curbsmoker

Not super spicy but still excellent and goes on almost anything, I’m particularly fond of this brands one with fermented black beans in it.

FzZyP

As your average LGMSCC enthusiast I can tell you a quarter inch drill bit is a good size for a straw

Dunmer_Sanders

If you have a big Asian market nearby, I recommend trying the different versions. That one is definitely a savory MSG heavy one and it’s absolutely delicious, a classic. However, chili crisp is commonly made with spicier peppers and tingly Sichuan peppercorns. I highly recommend branching out and trying the various brands. I mixed a bunch of different brands too, and it had a good result.

King_Saline_IV

Old Mama

FergusHamily

I am not sure but my mum as a professional housewife in Hong Kong told me this one is tasty https://preview.redd.it/7jkjxd90z3ad1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33fe88327e03dc53e9d200774cf6eab8cce7cbf7

BananaNutBlister

I prefer this. https://preview.redd.it/ryb57jzy04ad1.jpeg?width=2044&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19f42a629433335bad54e4464a27cc1ec9b6bbeb

Ok_Muffin146

Yep yep 100%

xxElevationXX

How does this compare to the “Fly by Jing” chili srisp oil ? I got recently which I really like

Lost-Pin-6478

Oh man. That stuff is so good. I use it on my tofu, rice and veggie bowls

red_nick

It's good, but I prefer the Lee Kum Kee one: chiu chow oil https://preview.redd.it/pl0idif7m6ad1.jpeg?width=1086&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81590ee2e753ef0db9f53dc2a290ed4a509a6ee9

urabewe

Try getting the family size next time.

Biggels65

My wife makes chili crisp.

TheWanderingMedic

For some reason, this one tastes like Thanksgiving to me. I have no idea how else to describe it 🤣

Straight-Invite5954

It's yummy but not really spicy

Affectionate_Pea_811

I actually prefer the standard version. I don't need everything I eat to be too spicy for everyone else to eat.

Lolitamizzkrazy

Correct one for what

Shadax

Lubricant

HairyStyrofoam

You must be new here

Obi-Brawn-Kenobi

Yeah he didn't know this sub is basically just brand worship

averagemaleuser86

Yes... just open it and smell... it'll make you hungry

JosefSoosef

LAO GAN MA LAO GAN MA LAO GAN MA

RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker

I got this same jar and I really did not like it, tastes burnt. But yeah it's the one everyone likes.

ohheyhowsitgoin

Delicious. Not spicy.

tweeeeeeeeeeee

get the beany one

BahnMe

It’s cheap. Unpopular opinion but the S&B one is way better.

Mangosteen310

This is the best store bought one. Try making it yourself with beef which is the original way. It’s so much better!

AKTriGuy

Correct one for what?

boxoctosis

Wooden_Discipline_22

oswaldcopperpot

Absolutely not. The correct one is “fried chili in oil”. A lot of people get suckered in by the keyword spicy. This one isnt as spicy as “Fried chili in oil.” Plus its got soybeans vs peanuts and peanuts are way tastier. Total comment chain fail here. That being said…. They are both good and quite similar except for •Fried Chili in Oil” being a little better.
