And i though the second half of the game felt rushed but daaaaaamn, didn't know it was thaaat rushed Fuck corporate for making devs speed up the development of the second half of the game

Zero_Fuxxx

Literally does not mean anything was rushed.

nell1204

the game was for sure rushed, that's the reason the game "went gold" with many crash-causing bugs, worse looking suits, and overall a worse game. updates have helped it tremendously. this is not me hating on the insomniac devs, it's me hating on the insomniac and sony higher-ups.

etrain2099

"I don't think this suit is what we think it is." Damn we really missed out some potential development and time for Spidey with the symbiote. Peter's time with the symbiote felt rushed, but hearing this ONE line makes me wonder just how much was cut and for what reason? We rarely ever saw Peter reflect on his actions and have a, "wakeup call" while still wearing the suit. Having conversations with Harry that highlight the growing concerns that Peter is having about the suit's nature really feels missing in the main game. Guess we know where it wound up.

casperdacrook

Yeah bro I had the symbiote for what felt like an afternoon of playtime like 3-4 hours max. Obviously it was prob closer to six but it felt so quick

The_Cookie_Bunny

Very cool, but that would be EXTREMELY difficult to implement into the actual game. Hopefully, they'll have it figured out by Spider-Man 3 though!

Shot_Material3643

Are you a game developer that worked on Spiderman 2's in house game engine who's aware of its limitations? How can you be so confident? Fully/semi destructible environments existed in games during PS3 era like Red faction guerrilla, Just cause 2

Tiny-Expression8876

Given the comment from Peter about being thrown through the wall and the overturned bus, this is likely a scripted event. There’s also the earlier comment from Peter as well

TheThiccestR0bin

He doesn't know, he's just saying that

Neat_Serve730

No it wouldn’t. Battlefield 3 had much larger destructible environments running on the PS3.

Sleyeme

Those older titles people keep mentioning with destructible environments are forgetting those games can’t play above 30 fps nor have high end fidelity. It’s no where near the same level of optimization when it comes to games with higher end fidelity, just having ray tracing enabled already stresses the system and brings it to its knees, now you are talking about constant environmental destruction on top of that. The hardware may simply not be good enough, the base ps5/xsx definitely isn’t.

ThaGuy34

Too bad spider-man isn't a battlefield 3 mod

Sufficient-Cow-2998

This video proves they already did succeed at implementing it. The issue is that the game was rushed so they couldn't use them more.

The_Cookie_Bunny

Having a working tech demo and implementing it into the final game are two VERY different things!

Sufficient-Cow-2998

Not really. That means they already did find the way to do it, they just didn't have the time. Those are very different things.

syntheticspider

Someone doesn’t know a thing about games

Having a look at your profile suggests you are absolutely not a full time game developer. You make music and there's posts about how to fix simple bugs in games, which you would know the answer to if you were a game dev. Apparently you do website development which does not in anyway give you knowledge on how game engines work

Danilovis

Because it's literally three holes on solid surfaces. This doesn't show what to expect when a building is destroyed enough to go down. Or how much debris it can support. Also this would require to actually add interiors to all buildings instead of randomly generated windows like they have now "Full time developer"

NerdyDank

You know...mentioning that you're X or Y or Z just to affirm your point just makes other people believe you even less.

NerdyDank

Because programming is one thing. Making it work without breaking the game altogether is another.

Instead of going on tangent on something completely urelated to try to sound smart...you could have just read my comment properly. No I was reffering to the fact that either a) it was way too resource intensive b) it broke some other quest or function. Also that line about some random piece of code breaking something unrelated shows that you have never written a line of code lmao.

Sufficient-Cow-2998

People on this sub hate it when someone criticizes the game or says it's rushed. But thanks for confirming what I was saying.

Optimus_Prime_19

I kinda agree, at least for the destructible environments. Nothing against the devs, I’m sure they were being made to hit a deadline, but there are portions of the game that feel a little rushed or like it’s missing something, I think they maybe should have pushed to get this in or whoever set the deadlines should have extended it for that feature. It would have been nice to help add something fresh for combat from the other two games. Fighting Venom throughout the city would have been cool, and I wish it would have happened, but I think it could also take away from how menacing Venom is to just fight him throughout the city. Wish the dev team would have had more time to implement better features.

Carcharis

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Sony got fed up with the increasing costs of the development and told them to finish it. We could’ve gotten all those features. I hope we get some of those on PC when it launches.

mezdiguida

No it doesn't. Implementing something and making it work in a limited section is vastly different than make it works on a larger scale, like it was supposed to work in the entire city. Obviously you have to set some limitations for technical reasons, balance and other stuff.

noggs891

I imagine destructible environments isn’t the issue. It’s what happens after. Is the whole city just wrecked constantly or does it magically just fix itself once you leave an area briefly. Destructible environments look cool but ultimately lead to a less immersive experience.

Carcharis

I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted.

0piumMunchie

this would’ve been so fire

TristanN7117

I imagine this will be repurposed into Green Goblin fights, since the glider will require some more open spaces to have a boss battle

GraphiteSwordsman

Stuff like this makes me sad. Not because I absolutely needed destructible environments. Or absolutely needed to fight Venom in the streets (though I will admit that I feel those things would have made the game better.) More so because they are indicative of missing improvements. I'm one of those people who feels the game took more steps back than it did steps forward. I was really excited to see how Insomniac iterated on and improved their combat and stealth systems, and my end feeling was that they really didn't. Don't get me wrong, animations are smoother and there are some cool new options in there, but they didn't really refine or notably improve the core combat loop. Seeing stuff like this just makes it even more apparent how many corners they had to cut to get the game out, and makes me wonder how many other cool features or additions ended up scrapped cause they just didn't have the time. (This isn't all directed at Sony either. Quite honestly, the fact that they took so long on the sequel and still barely touched combat and honestly downgraded stealth is concerning. I love Insomniac but it feels pretty obvious that something was a little wonky with this games development cycle.)

WeekIcy7669

I really wish this game could have spent a little bit longer cooking. I would have rather they delayed it instead of rushing to put it out

anonymusfan

If anything this just proves that these were concepts, we can’t say for sure if it would have been in the final game or not. The venom city fight might have made it further, but the whole fight with kraven’s goons could have been already scrapped.

Luf2222

we could have had so much cool shit why the fuck do higher executives (in this case sony) always feel the need to rush devs instead of letting them cook and than devs get laid off lmao

Wboy2006

Honestly, the more I see what was cut, the more the game feels half baked. I still really enjoyed it, but it really feels like this game had a lot more corporate meddling compared to the first one. The missing features, rushed third act and weird decisions make a lot more sense as time goes by and we see more about how it was made

Intelligent_Ask_2306

That's with every game bro lol, games always drops prior ideas

UpUppAndAwayWeb

i don’t consider myself a hater but i could feel it even from the sandman fight and the first act. The game just seemed so different to the first in so many ways and not really in a good way.

nell1204

godd i hope SM3 isn't rushed, and we get stuff like this for the goblin fight.

ifeellost_wav

We could’ve had that?? :(

Tagliarini295

Everyone that threw a temper tantrum cause people said it felt rushed...here you go.

LeSnazzyGamer

Why? Because they cut things out of the game? That happens with every game.

Tagliarini295

This is a lot though, the game felt bare bones.

jeffreygord

Don’t get me wrong I love this game but its rushed production really stripped us of a masterpiece 😔

ProjectJake02

We’re gonna get a directors cut.

LeSnazzyGamer

Do you know how directors cuts in video games work? They don’t add new features they’re literally just a complete version of the game with all updates and DLC in one package. This won’t be the Snydercut.

ProjectJake02

Ok.

Various-Armadillo-79

sorry dude that won't fix the game what we have is what we get this is what happens when something is rushed plus management having no idea how to divide time gow3 was made in 3 years and thats still my favorite game sooooooo

Any_Shopping_344

This probably might be footage for the Spider-Man 2 PS4 version
