Was this player running Tenacity? That would explain the special charge required to build 4 Tacticoolers without painting. The 20 splats would all be assists from either Tacticooler or from Point Sensor.

Tenacity works whenever the other team has more players I'm pretty sure, so whenever someone on OP's team died their special would charge

Exactly. It's weirdly worded, but it basically means "whenever the opposite team has more players alive than your own team, your special will charge faster during the imbalance." (I hope I worded it better lol)

It's still not the best - the rate of special charge is tied to how many players are down on your team, so it's only getting you a bit of special charge for a few seconds at a time. It got buffed the same time dread wringer came out but I wouldn't be surprised if you could more efficiently build special with other abilities that allow you to paint for special better, like main saver and swim speed.

It’s a bit situational but if you’re someone who often likes to play backline weapons then it could be useful especially if the rest of your team likes to kamikaze alot.

Point sensor assists. If you kill someone who is marked with a point sensor, the person who marked them will get an assist.

ranked modes have passive special charge, although it isn't very fast. I don't know how feasible it is to charge 4 tacticoolers passively

They did lose, and you gain more special in certain modes while losing or other certain objective based stuff

I guess tenacity works a lot more often when your teammates die because you apply zero pressure to enemies.

Ranked modes give passive special charge, and specific objective based things give even more

They were probably trying to do a challenge where you are only allowed to use subs (to get Sensor assists), and special (to get Tacticooler assists with Tenacity) Still a dick move to do. Maybe you should report them.

Honestly it's silly but kind of impressive lol. 20 "splats" which are definitely all point sensor and cooler assists, 4 tacticoolers likely charged from Tenacity plus Rainmaker's passive special charge, and no deaths at all.

I'm more impressed with how someone got 2104 points.

Seems to be like my “no turf” challenge, where in ranked modes I try to have a turf count less than 10 while still trying to contribute to the match. I think Tower Control would be the best mode, as I would be the one riding the tower. SZ I can’t contribute to the objective, RM I can’t carry the Rainmaker, and CB I would avoid carrying a power clam most of the time as it creates ink on the surface it collides with when thrown. Even then, thanks to the different queues, I would only attempt this in Open. I only did so in S2’s ranked once, and happened to win that match. Granted, this is now the only weapon I would consider valid for this challenge. The other two got their Big Bubbler to create paint. Though perhaps a better weapon for such a challenge would have Toxic Mist and Tacticooler, as the mist applies more immediate pressure than a Point Sensor.
