Friendly reminder that we had a P90 for a heroshot

Yeah, the Splat2 Heroshot was great, but I don't know how to feel about the Splat3 Version.

it's based on an ink cartridge for a printer (which I'm really surprised they haven't used until now), and another component of something, some kind of reel.

It looks like it’s some kind of roll used for 3D pens

My guess is it's modeled after a coilgun. Filament roll wouldn't make too much sense on its own considering other weapon designs that have real objects attached actually have purpose, like how the toothbrushes on Dapples are covered in ink.

Considering how everything in Alterna is 3D printed, that makes sense.

I love using the fully upgraded Hero Shot and Hero Dualies. Going ***BBBBBBBBBBBRAP*** and instantly obliterating anything you point at is so much fun. The S3 Hero Gear is fun because it has so much coverage but will never be as special as overcaffeinated P90 or ultra deluxe turbofuck dualies.

Closest Splatoon’s gotten to an actual gun. And it’s pretty dang close too.

I’ve mained the Krak-On Splat Roller since Splatoon 1, and still use the regular Splat Roller and Dynamo sometimes. The tetras are fun, I just don’t use guns much cause I can’t aim very well. :P

They aren't the first to come to mind when you think "actual fucking gun"; people think of handguns or assault rifles, not tiny emergency guns. My favorite weapon designs are probably Dapples, Squiffer, Gloogas, and Tentabrella. They're just the right mix of familiar and different; familiar real-world objects that have been modified to be weapons. I love all of the weapon designs, but those ones really stand out to me. Shoutout to Tentabrella because it's so silly. A gun built into an umbrella made from a TENT. You can shoot the tent as a (slow) rocket, and the actual gun's shot is just an instant Fuck You at point blank range. That's an idea that you could only find in this game. The designers must have had a lot of fun with these concepts. I can only imagine how many "Duuuuuuuuude that would be SICK", "Holy shit you're a genius", or "oh my god that would be hilarious, let's do it" moments there were.

I have a feeing they dropped the P90 for Splat3 as a result of the increase in school shootings. The imagery of shooting characters that look like kids with a replica of a real-world gun would probably attract a lot of controversy, which Nintendo wouldn’t want.

Imagine being a parent getting pissed off about a paint gun that resembles a P90, causing Nintendo to change the hero weapon in Splatoon 3 into a sprinkler .

I don't think it's that specifically, just that nintendo wants splatoon as kid friendly as possible

I think there should be a "brand" of Octo themed weapons. Now that the octolings are on the surface, integrated into inkling society, their gear should be commonplace

that'd be super fun. or it could have been really fun to be given the octo shot as an option alongside 2 different weapons in the Octolings level of hero mode and if you beat it, I don't know, 3 times with the octoshot, you get to use it in the rest of the game. failing that, why not do a similar thing as Spl2 and make it so that if you beat every level with the weapon, you get to use it as a "replica" in other areas

People ignore ir because it's the "Jr" starting weapon, but I think it's actually better than both the base and the Pro.

For the fact that you start with it. They think the game starts you in a bad spot, but it's seriously so effective, especially in Turf Wars, where it starts you.

That does remind me I was experimenting with using Splattersbot Jr for Tower Control and it was pretty good.

Octo Shot/Splattershot > Any Hero Shot There's something about a Super Soaker that's just quintessential Splatoon. S1 Hero Shot was too busy and a bit hideous. S2's was just a straight up fucking gun (????). S3's is kind of ugly, but at least it's a clever combination of items. I think a lot of ppl like to use it bcuz it looks more like a gun than most weapons. The basic Splattershots are all very aesthetically pleasing, imo.

Could be that the hero shot in SINGLE PLAYER is indeed much stronger when upgraded, which might be where your brain picked that thought up? The replica for multiplayer is scaled down to regular splattershot numbers though. Imagine how busted the single player one would be haha.

well the Hero shot in story mode is just a super beefed up splattershot but the multiplayer it's exactly the same as the vanilla splattershot

To elaborate on why I like Splattershot more: -Heroshot is imo too large - how did we go from a P90 in Splat2 to a brick with a printer cartridge in Splat3 -Heroshot is always 90% yellow, which looks kinda weird -I can't explain why but I dislike the Heroshot's firing sound. -I like having a watergun in Splatoon, just feels right. -Splattershot looks more like the Octo Shot which is such a simple, yet cool design. Also, why are people using Heroshot to save 1 license? They're really not that hard to get.

I’m not like the guy on here who has 99% usage of his main, but I feel like I get WAY more licenses than I have the desire to use. First thing I did was complete story mode, so the hero shot has that connection and I got it first, so it wins by default.

Heroshot bc i just kinda dont like how splattershot looks. Im not really a fan of the hot dog swirl and the colors just look bad imo. I thought the green and purple of s2 was bomb as fuck especially on the splat charger but the blue and yellow is just not doing it for me
