How cheap are we talking here? Because I know that vision care offers a wide variety of glasses at different price points. I remember going there five years ago to get glasses and they did a free eye exam. I'm not sure if they still offer that service. I'm not an optician, just a regular glasses-wearing pottayah, LOL."

mellowhumannn

Actually money is not an issue for me. As long as it’s worth it.

Then go to vision care bro, their service is immaculate

mellowhumannn

Thank you 🙏

Can confirm, it's pretty good service. And some of their frames are weirdly cheap. I got a pair of rodenstock frames for 18k LKR, they went for close to 300 EUR in Germany where they're actually manufactured, I'll take it ig

Well, the best option in my opinion would be to get your eyes checked at a private hospital, get a prescription and get your glasses from Pettah. The process of actually converting your prescription into a pair of glasses is very rudimentary and same all around; whether you get it done at a reputable place or otherwise. And many of the glasses that are provided through reputed sellers are infact outsourced to cheap places in and around Pettah. It's way more economical and the service is surprisingly fast.

Thank you so much for the advice

Go to a place with properly trained ophthalmologists and dispensers like Vasan eyecare, Jehan Rajapakse or Anoma Opticians. Places like Vision Care are the ‘Fast Food’ equivalent of the industry. My eye surgeon and a couple of others have advised me to run as far away as possible from them- they cut corners, misinterpret eye exams, and end up doing more harm than good. You only have one pair of eyes, and it is not a subject in which you should be looking to save a buck.

mellowhumannn

Thank you for the advise. I’ll be a going for a checkup this coming week. What is the place you usually go to?

Gerrards_Cross

I have had good experience with all three, most recently with Vasan where you can ask to consult their eye doctor before being administered any glasses. Place is at Kollupitiya near the NSB headquarters

mellowhumannn

Amazing. I live close by, so that is convenient. Thank you again.
