Yeah, cuz in the novel I'm pretty sure Luke fell down the same trash chute that his lightsaber fell down, but he was too heavy and was thus deposited into the atmosphere which is how he managed to grab onto the antennae thing
Honestly they should’ve used Leia’s saber instead, that way when she hands it to Kylo it would be a way of saying that even in death, his mother is still watching out for him
One of my many complaints with Rise is that Anakins lightsaber is magically fixed with no explanation. Was really looking forward to Rey having her own unique lightsaber.
E: I would imagine that Kylo would have some words about seeing the lightsaber restored, but I don't think he even mentioned it.
Since the blade completely disappears when deactivated it could be interpreted as being a new blade every time the lightsaber is activated so it has not done any terrible things from a certain point of view.
From a certain point of view Anakin never killed the younglings
You can't touch light so it wouldn't be possible for ani to hold the blade so he never ever touched the kids and was just doing weird stuff with the hands
Well, in all fairness, a gun is different from a lightsaber in that a lightsaber (In Canon) has a personality, of a fashion. A gun does not, and as such, cannot do terrible things. It can be used for terrible things, but that's not the gun's fault. Now a smartgun, on the other hand...
Well... They're not exactly sentient, but they have pseudo-personalities, like how blue crystals are kind of steadfast and confident, and green crystals are calm and calculated, and red crystals are angry and in pain and all... They're not sentient, but they have personalities, almost like fish or plants. Personally I prefer the Legends crystal system, but that's just how it's portrayed in Canon.
Yeah, Legends was gold standard
Lightsaber was calling out to Rey, which leads me that direction, the flashbacks can be explained as a force power and not communing
Then in Clone Wars we get the younglings doomed to order 66 finding their kyber crystal on Illum that sound like they are singing and glowing, but only to one padawan
What if I told you that you were touching an incalculably large number of photons right now, in fact, trillions are propagating into you as we speak
p.s. lightsabers are made of plasma, not light
*A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered your father.*
[Yea, they really should've put in a scene where Rey gets a series of horrific visions that cause her to run away in fear the first time she picked it up.](https://youtu.be/eQ42RydMt_c)
The Trade Federation has destroyed all that we have worked so hard to build. If we do not act quickly, all will be lost forever. I ask you to help us… no, I beg you to help us.
Literally nothing. It amounted to literally nothing. No vision here mattered to her. No vision was relevant to her or the future of the weapon itself. There is never a scene in the rain with Kylo. Ever.
All wasted potential under the “a story for another day”
It’s not as bad as I say? In that it never shows up. Ever. Sorry dude but watch all 3 movies and that never occurs. That’s a fact not an opinion.
The whole scene was clearly a setup for something the next director never bothered with among other things. That is also a fact.
If you liked it, power to you. When I go to see a movie it at least needs to make sense and have a solid progression. The use of characters from before has to make sense based on the journey they’ve been on if used. And Han might be the only true version of that. It looked pretty has great set pieces and the actors where all great. The writing setups all go nowhere or at best nowhere good. This scene being one of them. It is clearly meant as an implied scene where this object has some link to the past and future. A dark and ominous past possibly a dark and ominous future. And then the whole scene means nothing after that. It’s never discussed, referred to or implicated again. Like Vaders Mask. It gets destroyed in rise. But why? And what was its purpose before? Nothing.
Yeah I love how people blatantly ignore things in the sequels so they can shit on them. Like, why? If they’re as bad as you claim you shouldn’t have to lie or omit stuff to prove your point.
They're not. This was a series of vague visions, most of which showed the future. Not a single one was about the history of what that lightsaber had done
So it does have something to do with what's been done, but now it has to specifically a bad thing, as if rey's arc isn't literally finding her place and living up to the legacy of the jedi. I can see the goalposts screeching away now, lol
Wow what projection.
> Not a single one was about the history of what that lightsaber had done
>> That's nothing to do with the history of bad things done with the Saber though
That's you literally moving the goalposts of the argument. Just accept that you were either wrong or speaking too generally.
No I am not being difficult for no reason. It was considered to be a dark side artefact. At best for non film watchers an artefact linked to the force regardless of side.
What you’re doing it taking it all literally. It’s IMPLIED. Also the fact Kylo Ren stabs someone through the heart and Luke holding onto R2 after the DEATH OF HIS TEMPLE, but you’re right I’m just being “difficult for no reason” because of how you want to interpret the scene. Hush.
Rey: this dagger is bad.
Finn: didn't the lightsaber you're carrying kill like 12 children once after slaying thousands of drones in order to protect the Galaxy?
Rey: yeah, you're right, I guess that erases anything done by the dagger .
Finn: "I mean maybe, but I was trying to say isn't it the user and not the weapon that habors the ill will and evil?"
Rey: "Excuse me?"
Finn: "I mean you're able to weild the lightsaber for good despite it being used for evil in the past. So isn't it really just a question of what you use it for and not the weapon's inherent moral alignment? After all it's not like that lightsaber has turned you evil right?"
Rey: "........."
Finn: "Rey?"
The first time Rey touched it, she saw death and destruction. While the visions were not specifically about the actions of the lightsaber, it's not far fetched to assume she felt the lightsaber was used for bad stuff. However that dagger was more personal to her (kinda related to her parents and their disappearance which is a trauma she never recovered from), so she was more repulsed by it than a lightsaber that was used for bad some 50+ years ago
So even ignoring the whole vision sequence in TFA where Rey does see negative things after touching the saber (with no training or experience at the time to understand it), Fallen Order shows that whatever that force ability is called doesn’t work on every object.
Why the hell did they not have her make her own lightsaber for RoS?
Anakins was broken in TLJ, it's legit the perfect opportunity to make a new one.
But no, apparently we have to wait until the last 10 seconds of the movie to see her own lightsaber.
God I hate Ep. 9
So the lightsaber was responsible for one night of brutality and the downfall of the Jedi Order, but he saved a lot of lives with that weapon during the war, and lead many battles.
The Sith dagger on the other hand has likely only ever been used to do dark, evil twisted stuff.
I mean, the sequels are 3 random flicks smashed together into a “trilogy” that is not a consistent trilogy, and then added on to 2 existing trilogies that it is wholly inconsistent with
Would have been better to just keep making stand alone prequels and sequels that told good stories. Rogue-One was great
We did? Ochi killed Rey’s parents with it. We saw it in a flashback. And now comes the part when you say “oh right I guess it was so forgettable I forgot”
I’m proud (disappointed) that I did not pay to see the third movie. I’ve tried several times to watch it but get physically sick about 15 minutes in.
I still have no idea what happens but it sounds very confusing. I wanted my money back after the second one. The force awakens was so damn good I would have never thought they could screw up
So bad
They basically just wrote a bunch of "deep" writing and said "yea this sounds good" without caring if it actually matched up with what we already know about Star Wars

Anakin: Keep my swords name out ya bombad MOUTH!
Was expecting the jar jar bot to comment on this
Keep meesa waifey name outta yousa’s bombad mouth!
Obi Wan: It was a youngling joke
>:c
Wait, I thought Anakin/Luke's lightsaber was broken in TLJ.
The Resistance has a really good insurance policy
They fixed it….. somehow
Somehow Luke's lightsaber returned.
How did Maz even get that thing anyway? He dropped it in Cloud City
That's a story for another time...
An entire Disney + series about the lightsaber.
Buzz lightsaber, voice by Tim Allen
it just goes on a rampage searching out all of the children until it gets caught and given to her
It includes three episodes about the Mandalorion
Lightsabers fly now
turns out his lightsaber was just an analogy of the entire sequel
They fly now!?
They fly now
idk, but in Legends the saber was found in a trash compactor (like c3po)
Ok, that does make some since
Yeah, cuz in the novel I'm pretty sure Luke fell down the same trash chute that his lightsaber fell down, but he was too heavy and was thus deposited into the atmosphere which is how he managed to grab onto the antennae thing
\*sense
Maz is a hand collector... The lightsaber was just part of the package.
i fucking love your name my guy
Haha, I'd been waiting to make that pun for a long time.
They just rebuilt it, like with Kylo's mask... Why? Because they felt like it, no real practical reason...
Honestly they should’ve used Leia’s saber instead, that way when she hands it to Kylo it would be a way of saying that even in death, his mother is still watching out for him
Two words...chimpanzee blacksmith.

YOU TURNED HER AGAINST ME! I fucking love the Mustafar dialogue
my favorite line is when obi wan resolves himself. "i will do what i must"
YESSSSS!
He would've been better off joining Anakin and helping him kill sidious. They could've shown up to help Yoda.
Isn't that widely accepted?
Well then you are lost
Especially the kids!
>he never ever touched the kids and was just doing weird stuff with the hands That sounds horrible
Now then now then now then
Just like how you get a new bullet every time the gun is activated so the gun has not done any terrible things from a certain point of view
Your comment has me thinking about how lightsabers are sentient... ...Suspicious
Well... They're not exactly sentient, but they have pseudo-personalities, like how blue crystals are kind of steadfast and confident, and green crystals are calm and calculated, and red crystals are angry and in pain and all... The simpler reason is that Anakin didn't do it. Vader did.
Well the kyber crystal always remembers
[Yea, they really should've put in a scene where Rey gets a series of horrific visions that cause her to run away in fear the first time she picked it up.](https://youtu.be/eQ42RydMt_c)
Tbf that scene didn't really show the actual history of this weapon
it showed the history of the og trilogy and her memorys and the future, nothing about the youngling slaying tho
> the og teriligy The what?
The original gangasta trilogy, you know where Lil Annie holds his Naboo fighter sideways and pops a cap in the Trade Federation's reactor
The Trade Federation has destroyed all that we have worked so hard to build. If we do not act quickly, all will be lost forever. I ask you to help us… no, I beg you to help us.

Scruffy loves the og terligy.
Scruffy loves the OG terligy like he loves janitorial equipment, I reckon.
Scruffy 100% busts in the mop water
Tbf the movie didn’t show anything of anything that’s supposed to back up the pre-text of the movie
Because none of those visions had anything to do with the sword or it's history

Please stop
We come for information only.
Yeah instead of that we got a veery vague scene that wanted to be deep but basically did nothing.
Can we normalise guest directors for specific scenes? Someone like M. Night Shyamalan would make Force visions seem as surreal as they should.
Whadda tweest!
I, too, enjoy Robot Chicken.
I try to forget about that scene because it amounted to almost nothing
Literally nothing. It amounted to literally nothing. No vision here mattered to her. No vision was relevant to her or the future of the weapon itself. There is never a scene in the rain with Kylo. Ever. All wasted potential under the “a story for another day”
You must own the rain, Valdularo. It must be part of you, an extension of you. If you fight it, it will win.
What is this sentience!? Lol
He’s trying to remind us of better times

ah right and that vision was a major plot point and helped the story in any possible way

It’s like how people cite the fake story Kylo told Rey as an example of Luke being “ruined”
The movie is so shitty in its writing that the people who enjoy it think Kylo made shit up to cope with the bad narrative.

Lightsabers don't kill. People kill.
The force kills people. Midicholorians are evil.
Lightsaber throw exists, and canonically when a Jedi throws their lightsaber, it's at that point acting more on the will of the force, sooo... /s
When you throw your saber, you’re controlling it with the Force. Otherwise it would just drop to the ground and turn off as soon as you threw it.
Woops. Forgot to type /s lol But yes, this is correct, I know. Was trying to joke but forgot to signify it was a joke.
Oh, I’m sorry! Wasn’t trying to be a smart-ass. Lol
Nah it's okay my dude. I've been hitting reddit on and off today while being busy, hence how I forgot to add the /s lol

Youngling Slayer 6600 Jesus you all are dumb

It’s 9000
Maybe that dagger was Youngling Slayer 3001
It isn’t the sword that is evil it’s who wields it.
You don't get it. The dagger has done terrible things ***to her***. Rey is an extremely self-centered protagonist.
What's the point of the blade when they can have Darth Bane's lightsaber?
What was the dagger used for again? Was this even elaborated on in the movie?
Yes it was
Keep my padawans name out yo farkin mouth!
I'm trying to forget this movie. The writing and plot was so awful
That’s what the sequels are bad writing

Gee, if only we had *seen* any of these terrible things.
We did? Ochi killed Rey’s parents with it. We saw it in a flashback. And now comes the part when you say “oh right I guess it was so forgettable I forgot”
Yup. Totally forgot.
That man in the meme has done terrible things
Chris Rock Slapper 3000
Get Rey’s lightsaber outta your focking mouth M8
Keep my lightsabers name out of your fucking plot hole filled hoe mouth
Because only one weapon in the Galaxy is capable of being used for evil any given time?
*Rogue One* is the only Disney Star Wars movie that's any good. 10, 11, and 12, are so bad they shouldn't be considered canon.
I’m proud (disappointed) that I did not pay to see the third movie. I’ve tried several times to watch it but get physically sick about 15 minutes in. I still have no idea what happens but it sounds very confusing. I wanted my money back after the second one. The force awakens was so damn good I would have never thought they could screw up So bad
I'm just glad he wasn't awake to see that landing!
Whole movie is bad writing lol
She just means it did something that affected her directly.
The movie really forgot a lot of prequel stuff, didn't it?
They basically just wrote a bunch of "deep" writing and said "yea this sounds good" without caring if it actually matched up with what we already know about Star Wars
It's fine, nothing from Disney is canon
What a garbage movie this was.
She reacted with violent shock when she touched the lightsaber. So the writing fits perfectly.
Y’all act like Rey didn’t have a whole ass vision when she first touched the damn thing
I’m sure 12 youngling is not a high score
Somehow Will Smith has returned.
The dagger rebroadcast Major League Baseball games with only implied oral consent.
Anyone know what the lore actually is with that knife!?
They never even explained how the fuck that saber was recovered from a gas giant.

Why is it that no one remembers all the heroic things Anakin has done?
“It was a order 66 joke”
Keep my likeness outta yo fucking memes!
Do you not remember what happened when Rey first touched it in TFA? Seriously bad post
That dagger would either break after a few uses or get embedded in flesh and be pretty hard to pull out.
I mean when she touched it for the first time she did feel that so idk
Would she have known?
yeah those dont count they didnt even have a good villain he was a pussy ass crybaby im gonna go watch my boy get cut in half and yorted down a hole again
Wow what an original joke...
Does.. does Rey suck?
It’s a travesty
Well to be fair, she did have a pretty strong reaction when she first touched it.
How’s her feeling a dagger has done bad things bad writing? Do you understand what “bad” or “writing” even mean?
