I’m not sure if it’s just the two kfcs closest to me but it’s so clear they’ve switched to gravy powder. Horrible tasting thick goop and makes no sense when the chicken grease is literally free…
So all those yummy growth hormones and processing chemicals that leach out during cooking as a bonus? Well that makes sense then. Completely justifies the price. A bargain really, any way you look at it.
Growth hormones aren't really needed, the chicken industry already produced a bird decades ago that grows fast enough on its own through a lot of hybridization - the broiler. If they grew any faster they wouldn't survive long enough to be profitable (they already go from egg to dinner in less than 6 weeks, which is about as fast as biology will allow).
If they were relying just on regular old farm hens, then sure, they might be tempted to speed up the process with hormones (if it was legal), but unless you're paying premium, you're not eating anything like that, you're eating broiler.
Chicken dripping, flour, and water.
>Gotta be running at a 5000 - 10,000 % mark-up.
They are turning leftover shit into food. Its end of shift trap cleaning turned into profit.
not sure? i didn't work there for long (I'm technically still employed actually lol) and i was a cook not a host so i didn't make it but the whole potato and gravy setup changed and it tasted different after that. some said for better some said for worse, i didn't like it.
I stopped going after they discontinued the large size. If that's the cost now, then I guess I'll have to win the pools before I ever go back for chips and gravy.
That works for me. Try telling my kids that though. :( If you could tell me where my local kebab shop gets its chicken salt from, I would save a fortune.
NOT FUCKING WOOLWORTHS! I bought a can of their chicken salt and it's utter crap!
Ask your guy. He might be able to tell you what they get. You can guarantee it'll be in a 5kg bag though!
I don’t like gravy but the Mrs does and she says the Henny Penny stuff is best. Their chips are awesome but I don’t know if they do mash, I know they do roast potato and pumpkin and boiled carrots and peas. The Mrs likes their gravy and chips. I find pumpkin a rare treat at a chicken shop these days, especially with so many independents disappearing.
They have also definitely switched to a cheaper mashed potato . I had some the other night and it reminded me of the bagged mash I had as a dirt poor kid .
A fucking fiver for a spoonful of powder and hot water? Gotta be running at a 5000 - 10,000 % mark-up. Impressive really.
Also the shit at the bottom of original chicken fryers
Chicken grease makes the best gravy! 😊

But that's actually how you make gravy. You take the fat from the animal in the bottom of the pan, add water, salt/spices/stock and mix in some flour.

Lmao, they don’t use hormones in their chicken but yeah there’s no reason for buying gravy by itself unless it comes with the meal.
Yeah sure they don't, they are just experts at selecting the most fattest profitable ones running around in the coup to purchase.
It’s called selective breeding
Lol. Who calls it that, the marketing department?

Are you talking about instant gravy?
not sure? i didn't work there for long (I'm technically still employed actually lol) and i was a cook not a host so i didn't make it but the whole potato and gravy setup changed and it tasted different after that. some said for better some said for worse, i didn't like it.
The instant gravy tastes exactly like chicken noodle flavouring which is too overpowering for gravy.
KFC gravy is actual shit.
Personally I don’t mind it, everyone else just swaps it out for extra chips in their zinger box lol.
Less flavour too.
Well I wouldn't be surprised if the proportion exceeds food safety standards.

Mix up some gravox at home and grab a medium wrap from the chippie on the way home from work. 20x the quality for 1/2 the price!
That works for me. Try telling my kids that though. :( If you could tell me where my local kebab shop gets its chicken salt from, I would save a fortune.

I miss henny penny, all the ones near me have gone bust
It’s only worth what people pay for it. And I refuse to pay for it so to me it’s worthless to me and KFC.
$1.45 for the plastic cup
Who the fuck actually eats this shit
Everyone. What’s your problem?
I'd happily just drink the gravy! I don't need the chicken! 😊
They have also definitely switched to a cheaper mashed potato . I had some the other night and it reminded me of the bagged mash I had as a dirt poor kid .
It’s always been powdered potato
You been wanking off roos mate?
🤫
$5.45 to fill it up to that line is an impressive bargain IMO, cheapest wristie ever!
