Let it go outside your base and put up floodlights. Should be fun watching power going off and back on constantly. Does that mean we could set up a strobe light?
I have read that Crabsquids are actually one of the two species that are hostile if you release them. I think the second ones are Bonesharks, but im not sure on that.
Well, it's not like the crabsquid will be able to file a complaint with PETA, but I'd recommend keeping it in its natural habitat. The bioreactor might not be the best place for a sea creature to call home.
(PDA) “Remember, all organisms you slaughter are the property of the Altera x Peta corporation. Your current sentence stands at 9… 9… 9… 9 years. Be sure to report yourself to the nearest authorities for a proper trial.”
Nah it should fit once those lantern fruits run out. The bioreactor fits stuff that is up to the equivalent of 2 seaglides but then again it is subnautica so it can disappoint you sometimes.
They’re talking about whether it would fit in the time capsule to be sent back for other players to find in-world.
But you can only fit a seaglide sized amount of items in a capsule. (6 slots in a 2x3 grid).
But yeah. Crabsquid’s are good bioreactor fuel. Not the ideal fuel, but decent.
Same on the stasis rifle. I’d never bothered to fuck around with it/ build it even with multiple playthroughs until someone gave me one—I just kept maneuvering/ sneaking and hiding my way through rough situations.
But tbh, stasis rifle is useful.
It's my favourite way of dealing with warpers. They teleport away after being struck with a knife, but it can be kind of hard to hit them without them retaliating.
Yeah, there isn’t much else that works well on warpers. And they’re conveniently large and have a slow drifting movement pattern (aside from the teleportation) which helps when you’re aiming with the stasis rifle.
Realizing you could use it on leviathans also felt like a real game changer to me tbh.
If you catch an enzyme peeper (which can be easily found near the aliens vents, they are the peepers that have a trail of orange glitter behind them), you can place an enzyme peeper in the same tank as infected fish and it’ll clear their infection. This works even if you haven’t cured yourself yet.
Dunno, the story suggests that infected fish have different behavior. So maybe, but i threw it in the bioreactor because i did not want its infection to spread to other fish
But if you catch the Peepers with the glowy trails they'll spread the Enzyme through the tank and cure any infected creatures inside, which is a neat solution.
Well it’s either the bioreactor or you place it outside and it tries to eat you immediately (crabsquids ignore the temporary passiveness of hatched fauna)
Are you implying this is temporary for other hatchlings raised in confinement? Mine was infected, so maybe it behaved different, but I was never attacked by any home-grown animal.
Yes. After a long period of time all predatory hatchlings will eventually become hostile when taken out of containment. (Like 7/8 in-game days outside containment) The infection has nothing to do with it and I’m not sure if it’s intentional or a bug
I can confirm that crabsnakes also do this (or at least mine did). Not two seconds after I released it, it bit my cuddlefish, then me a few seconds later.
Reloaded a save and chucked the bastard into the bioreactor with precisely zero regrets.
Anyhow, might have just been a bug, might be the devs making anything with “crab” in the name be crabby immediately (insert sitcom laugh track here). I’unno.
It’s funny. I tried the same with the crashfish, it just up and left just to explode somewhere away from me. Did not feel very hostile, more depressing xD
Pfft, yes. Those things are so worthless they don't even make very good biofuel.
You'll have to wait a minute, though, because it's a 3x3, and you don't have room in there rn.
I remember during early access I hatched a reefback and then I picked it up to read the description and when I put it back in the tank it was normal size and my game crashed because there was a ginormous reefback in my base
Edit: curse you autocorrect!
whats a feedback? I thought it was to report something to the devs. Do you mean to say there is actually something in the game that hatches called a feedback?
I hear rumours that if you grow this as a baby in your alien containment and let it outside you base it actually protects you from other fishes in the sea
Let it go outside your base and put up floodlights. Should be fun watching power going off and back on constantly. Does that mean we could set up a strobe light?
I would do it just for the sounds they make
The issue is: Every EMP sets your base energy to zero. So your bioreactor and so on will pretty much always run on max draw
It'll be friendly to you if you free it (Atleast I think I had a crash fish egg that was friendly after it hatched)
I have read that Crabsquids are actually one of the two species that are hostile if you release them. I think the second ones are Bonesharks, but im not sure on that.
In the aquarium, yes
Nope before I left the planet I set them all free and none attacked me
Well, it's not like the crabsquid will be able to file a complaint with PETA, but I'd recommend keeping it in its natural habitat. The bioreactor might not be the best place for a sea creature to call home.
Don't worry, the biorector is just a temporary home before it will be relocated to it's final ~~(e)~~state
(PDA) “Remember, all organisms you slaughter are the property of the Altera x Peta corporation. Your current sentence stands at 9… 9… 9… 9 years. Be sure to report yourself to the nearest authorities for a proper trial.”
I can hear this comment both in the PDA voice and the radio voice
Would it fit in the capsule you can drop at the end? If so, save it for that.
No should I put it in the bioreactor
And I got a second one for the capsule
Won't fit in the capsule. Only fits stuff the size of the seaglide
Nah it should fit once those lantern fruits run out. The bioreactor fits stuff that is up to the equivalent of 2 seaglides but then again it is subnautica so it can disappoint you sometimes.
Sorry, meant it won't fit in the time capsule
NOOOOOO!!!!!

Someone gave me a stasis rifle with an ion battery in a time capsule. What a legend.
I managed to get a heat knife before I ever even had a seamoth bc of a time capsule, absolutely amazing
Same on the stasis rifle. I’d never bothered to fuck around with it/ build it even with multiple playthroughs until someone gave me one—I just kept maneuvering/ sneaking and hiding my way through rough situations. But tbh, stasis rifle is useful.

Well no it wouldn't, not really sure why you would even want to put it in a time capsule it would just suffucate without water.
You can store all of the eggs and fauna life forms in lockers and they will remain alive. Like Pokémon! No water needed.
(Not actually like Pokémon and tbh this game mechanic has always bothered me).
I just wanted to offer you this gift of a dead crabsquid.
Thank you
His fatass won't even fit
Not yet it won’t, but on god he is going inside the energy blender
Will it blend?
I have a pet crabsquid. They're awesome. If you need fuel for a bio reactor, catch and breed Oculus. They have the highest power output.
Shoutout to the Canadian 13 yr old who somehow found my Twitch streams and taught me this lol
I got lucky finding this out myself, building my base in the mushroom cave. My crabsquid was infected though, so he did end up in the bioreactor

So they can get infected and then turn aggressive or why would that matter?
Dunno, the story suggests that infected fish have different behavior. So maybe, but i threw it in the bioreactor because i did not want its infection to spread to other fish
IIRC infection will rapidly spread inside an alien containment fish tank.
But if you catch the Peepers with the glowy trails they'll spread the Enzyme through the tank and cure any infected creatures inside, which is a neat solution.
Did they stop nuking your base on the regular? Because that's what my pet did to me a good while back
As far as I know, mine have never tried to EMP my base.
I very vaguely remember something about it being fixed / hatched creatures being friendlier in general, but I wasn't sure
wrong. Reggies. get the Reggies.
No, sir, you are wrong. Reggies are the best fish to eat in terms of food points, not power generation.
Well it’s either the bioreactor or you place it outside and it tries to eat you immediately (crabsquids ignore the temporary passiveness of hatched fauna)

You went back in time to kill it as a baby?
Well first I had to steal a dive suit, gun and underwater motorcycle from a passing survivor…
So that’s why my guard crabsnake turned on me! :(
Bioreactor or leave it in containment. I'd personally just leave it.
If you don't then you're a sucker
I'm glad that the deep sea predators don't immediately and lethally depressurize when you release them near the surface.
My God that would be hilarious though. Pointless, but hilarious.
Pfft, yes. Those things are so worthless they don't even make very good biofuel. You'll have to wait a minute, though, because it's a 3x3, and you don't have room in there rn.
Yes you should. They're so fking annoying😡
I had enough of their shit
Do it Grind the squid
kill zem all
Hmmm, are u sure?
I those fuckers are terrifying
Wait what!? You can get a crab squid item?!
There’s a egg you can find it’s almost see through with some blue I found this one by the 500 base
If you hatch the eggs in an alien containment tank you can get most of the fauna as items
I remember during early access I hatched a reefback and then I picked it up to read the description and when I put it back in the tank it was normal size and my game crashed because there was a ginormous reefback in my base Edit: curse you autocorrect!

Omg I didnt even notice 😭
The question shouldn’t be why. The question should be why not? After all the bioreactor must feed.
Do it, think about all the times they have drained the power in your vehicles, once you release him into the wild he will turn on you.
make it suffer
Yes! All the way
You should
Do it
No. 3x3 critters are huge pain. Stick to 2x2
How do you get one? They are cute :)
You can find eggs to put in the alien containment unit in your base on the floor of the deep grand reef
If you're cold, they're cold. Put them in the bioreactor
I hear rumours that if you grow this as a baby in your alien containment and let it outside you base it actually protects you from other fishes in the sea
Lol
Yes, absolutely
YES. The Bioreactor loves Spider Rolls.
Why not?
Of course
NOOO he cute
Whata good sorce of bio fuel! 4 squares!
First, you can't fit it in there, second BURN THIS BITCH BURN THIS PIECIE OF SHIT BURN THIS SEAMOTH DESTROYER
You can’t there’s not enough space
no.
Yes
Should you not?
Yes. Immediately
Obviously yes.
Do it just for the irony of it
Yes cuz f**k them
Put the bastard in
Yes, fuck that bitch.
How? Did you grab one???
Destroy the bastard
DEW IT Make him pay for all his species' crimes against alterra vehicles
(palpatine voice) Do it. Kill him.
Would be cool if you did that it killed your power instead of gaining some
That gonna power the whole thing, DO IT
bioreact his ass
The salami lid ain’t gon fit like that
How do you even get a crabsquid
Find egg -> raise in alien containment -> take out alien containment.
No
How do you get that
How did you get that in your inventory?
I got the egg
After two took my Tina (Seamoth) from me I have waged war against the crabsquid tribe
DO IT
Instead, use the crashfish eggs
Yes, i did it with reefback and it gives so much energy
Yes
