We are the Nash-Kobe-Dwight lakers. That’s who we are. It’s time to accept it.

po0nlink_

They didn’t mortgage their future though when building that team.

Just_A_Glitch

The fanbase also had some championships to lessen the blow.

TheConboy22

They gave up a fucking boatload for Nash.

Admirable_Bed3

You give up 2 Firsts and 2 Seconds every time for Nash. No one could've foreseen he was literally one injury from getting washed.

AZMadmax

The lakers are perpetually mortgaging their future to win now and it works

a_moniker

Cause every free agent wants to sign with them. The Heat are the only ones that rival them in free agency, and even that’s not that close.

AZMadmax

Yes for sure living in LA is a huge factor but so is playing with superstars and LA always has 1.

JoeTheHoe

They did, those picks for Nash were super valuable, one of them even became Mikal Bridges lol

DingyTV_YouTube

And then we threw Bridges away....so dumb

BackinBlackR8R

Oh they absolutely did

dafuqyouthotthiswas

Yes they did, but it was protected picks and they were so ass the following years they kept the picks

raiderrocker18

That was a big 4. They had Pau too!

Moveless

History always sleeps on Pau. They act like because kobe won the first three with Shaq and the next two without that he won the next two by himself. Pau was incredible, and they had a great set of elevated role players like Odom, Bynum, and Fischer. Oh and a top 5 all time coach.

Lilreddit13

Not that bad

No-Addendum-5414

Ah yes, that was very disappointing

UrRightAndIAmWong

Nah, Nash, Kobe, Dwight at least had the consideration that your three stars had to be able to do different things. Point guard, Forward, Center. But here we have ball shooting guard, shooting guard, forward, all of which do the same thing and take dumb shots.

JG_2214

Has to be unless I’m forgetting of another failed big 3. The original Nets big 3 were all old and washed The most recent Nets big 3 wipes the floor with our mid 3.

po0nlink_

The OG nets big three would be the closest comparison. The Nets gave up a haul for Pierce and KG. Not too far off of our current status.

TurtleBird

Durant Kyrie Harden worse

Stormdude127

Not even close that team was ridiculous when all three of them played

thewhalehunters

Yeah, but they didn't accomplish shit either

TickleMyCringle

One kyrie injury from making the finals tho, which is way more than the mid 3 has done

BangPowZoom

You say that as if their game translated to that, lol. They were dominant as all hell when they actually got to play together.

Ok_Crow_9119

>when all three of them played And getting Kyrie to play was the hardest shit of all. That's why Harden gave up and KD lost another year of his god-like abilities.

astro4143

The worst big three was to cut the lead to 42

No-Addendum-5414

I see what u did here.

[deleted]

Dwight nash kobe was easily more disappointing imo. There was plenty of hesitation surrounding our big 3 prior to the season.

RunningForIt

Having current Bradley Beal doesn’t make it a big 3

twin520

WE ARE SOFT WITH NO FIRE OR TOUGHNESS!!!!!

TheMF

It seems like KD and Book are cut from the same cloth. They love to ball, but don't necessarily seem to have that competitive fire that drives some of the greats. I think Paul had that and was able to get it out of Book, but with KD they are just "chilling" playing their game without much fire or intensity. It's especially evident when the young scrappy teams come to play and it throws them completely off.

mraqbolen

I think I agree

DingyTV_YouTube

..we play tough...sometimes...we are just a cumbobulated mess, turn over machine

aperfectmatrix

Kyrie, Harden and KD being unstoppable when they were on the floor together but never being on the floor together is more disappointing IMO

yunnsu

Isn't it more disappointing to have our 3 all on the floor and still being mid?

desert_run

Maybe. Though the Hakeem-Pippen-Barkley Rockets were pretty ugly.

AZMadmax

We messed up getting another 2 guard. Beal is fucking awesome but these guys cannot get the best out of each other. Unless it’s just all on Vogel. If we got the KP and jrue holiday package 😭

king_17

This is what people were saying in the offseason but got called haters

Ok_Crow_9119

Ideally, you don't need a 1 if you have an offensive scheme that the team can follow. Problem is, it doesn't seem like this team has that offensive scheme.

AZMadmax

I saw the vision but instead we have hot potato pick n roll

Ok_Crow_9119

I mean, I'd love a hot potato pick n roll than ISO all day everyday. At least Pick and Roll can potentially create a 5 on 4 or 4 on 3 advantage.

SHAWNNOTSEAN

Westbrook, PG, and Melo on the Thunder

king_17

Melo was washed by them stop

Clean_Ad_7012

that was hardly a big 3

MitchellCumstijn

Kobe, Nash and Dwight Howard

DasaniSubmarine

Bradley Beal refused to shoot because he was worried about his his 3-pt%. That guy doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a hypothetical "big 3".

Wenia6killerCZ

What's happening with the Suns is not about the BIG 3, it's about the fact that you can't build a bench on veterans but you have to have a mix of players and more importantly bring in young promising players and give them space. Im sick we have Nassir and he plays only in garbage time…

sparrow801

Remember the Lakers with Shaq, Kobe, Karl Malone, Gary Payton etc? I thought that team was like the next Dream Team when it was announced haha

FLGT12

At least they made the finals ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)

musicloverincal

They suck together if we all want to admit the truth. The only one worthy is Durant who plays both sides of the floor. Booker is a bg zero when he has height guarding him and Beal is just not that guy.

HiBoobear

Who’s the third?

ThreeHundredWays

Who’s the first?

Orleanist

It's Beal, Bol, and Allen (outside of that garbage last two weeks)

Rugermedic

Big 0- more like it

WildWestZona

Yup. Face it ya’ll, suns best chance of all time was against bucks, no one was gonna beat the bulls. Suns are cursed. They’ve been bad all year, and their future is awful. I would literally trade all of them to get draft picks back and turn towards future.

king_17

Up 2-0 and choked the finals away. Game 5 at home choked that away. Game 6 was tight in the 4th. That’s going to haunt the suns for a long long time. Then being the 1 seed the year after just to slapped I’m games 6 and 7 by the mavs ain’t a curse the players aren’t built like that they fold under pressure time and time again.

pizzapocketchange

lol allen got hurt that's the real worry here. iso play doesn't cut it any more in this league and shootings harder with all the physicality they're allowing, to make up for all the shooting that's taken over the league. On top of that give minny credit they have a great team on the defensive end. On the suns to figure out how to make the 2nd and third pass and have it end up in an open big 3 member. Different ball game at home and for the love of god play bol bol, his length alone is better than EG.

legsstillgoing

It would be nice to make A pass without turning it over or passing it at the last second to a defensively draped teammate. There’s zero picks or attempts at getting each other open off the ball.

TravelledKiwi

Its hard to know when its only their first year together, in the 2nd game, of the first round of the playoffs. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Opening-Citron2733

People forget most "superteams" ( not saying the Suns are one) typically didn't win their first year together

king_17

Beside the warriors and heat every other super teams has failed. And heat at least made the finals their first year before losing and warriors won back to back their first 2 years

TheMF

My concern is that I've seen very little improvement. I gave them the benefit of the doubt with all the injuries, but they have had quite a few games at "full strength" now and things look pretty much the same.

Opening-Citron2733

I think that's disingenuous. They were like the 11th seed on Christmas day following the embarrassing Mavs loss, facing the hardest SoS for the rest of the season and they played well above .500 ball and got the 6 seed. They had limited time with Brad KD and Book together. Our last 10 games we went 7-3 against virtually all playoff competition. KD & Beal only played 41 games together this year, idk how many of those book was in too but that's literally less than half a season at "full strength"

GlueGuy00

The FKN Big 3 needs to wake up

Ziid10

Different game when we play at home. Their role players won’t be that good.

Ok-Tumbleweed6320

Not to sure about that, their role players have a role.....and they play it.

Ziid10

Easy when your at home

Ok-Tumbleweed6320

Yeah I agree...but when you play a lot of iso with mediocre defense, it becomes a lot harder to rely on that against a team with dedicated roles.

Lilreddit13

If the Series doesn’t 6 yeah

shawns1999

People here saying “Kobe Nash Dwight” clearly don’t know what happened. Kobe tore his Achilles and didn’t play in the playoffs but willed the team there anyways when Dwight and Nash was injured in the regular season. We have all 3 healthy currently in the playoffs, it would be embarrassing if we got swept

pankalank

payton malone o’neal and bryant? but that’s 4 and also ireland dont hoop. no expectations no disappointment

Ektaliptka

Who would have thought clearing the roster and keeping two players and adding another max player SG when we already had a max player SG and not bringing in an elite PG and also adding a brand new coach to a bunch of new players would have some issues? These guys have no clue what their roles are or how they fit in together. That's due to coaching and time playing together.

zeze999

Not yet… won’t be the first time young team drops 2-0 lead vs. veteran team (kings last year the freshest example)… and there’s still an outside chance for next year… strangest things happened (not that I have much, if any, faith in either scenario, but just saying).. so, on the way there I would say

Mal_Swansky

Beal was never going to be "big" anything. Trading for his ridiculous and redundant contract instead of doing everything to get a real PG + better defenders was the absurd thing, this shit is nowhere near "most disappointing" when it's not a surprise to anyone but the most committed homers.

RockSexton

First it was that abomination of IT, Tragic, and Bledsoe. Now it's Book, Beal, and KD. I never want to hear about a "3" when it comes to their roster construction ever again.

Timely_Shock_5333

Durant = most disappointing “big 1” of all time

FLGT12

Could be worse, we could have had Carmelo Anthony, D Rose, and Porzingis. Brandon Jennings was the third best player on that putrid Knicks team lolol

Head_Panda6986

Meh doomers lol

rekishi321

Giannis hurt kyrie on purpose, otherwise a ring….

ArizonaNiteDevil

One of my all time favorite WINNING team was that of Isaiah Thomas, Joe Dumas, John Salley, Dennis Rodman and Bill Laimbeer. I'm talking back to back championships with not one Superstar among them. They were a no nonsense "team first" winning attitude. The prime Detroit Pistons. Although Chauncy Billups, Ben Wallace and Rip Hamilton were pretty damn good too with back to back championships 👍

Kablaow

The most poorly constructed big 3 at least.

ResponsibleProposal4

Top 3 flops.

bogdano26

No because everyone saw this coming from miles away.

britter87954

Soft 3

Rough_Transition1424

I think the 2013-14 Nets big 3 was the worst big 3 of all time. The age of the super team is over and the Suns are late to the party. No point in blowing up the team since Brooklyn has our draft picks.

Latter_Ad852

It's impressive how little they care

Fordraxel

nope. theres been many more. Hell the Rony Siekaly, Glen Rice, Grant Long, Mookie Blaylock, Steve Smith was pretty disappointing.

DegenerateDaddy7

LeBron’s era was tainted by this diva “king”. I hate anything with Big 3. Bunch of soft ass players

Wigglebot23

Not even remotely close

saltynipsss

Until we’re eliminated from playoffs, posts like this are so unnecessary and irrelevant. You’re just letting your emotions take over before you can make a conclusive judgement. I understand from the naked eye it’s looked underwhelming but I urge you all to save your takes for the post season, if In 2-3 games we’re in Cancun then go all out but it’s not worth it until then. We’ve all go high anxiety running so I think it’s important to hold tight until we can be conclusive. Of all the fans in recent years, we know that a 2-0 lead means virtually nothing.

Zealousideal_Line340

didn’t see KD, Kyrie and harden ?

GrizzledTech

They nearly went to the finals if not for injuries and a big toe. This suns team is definitely the biggest disappointment

kwan2

And suns would've 1000% smashed the Nets into the ground that year.

TheMop05

Doubt it. They were blowing out the Bucks in that series until Kyrie got hurt

Zealousideal_Line340

and then what happened ?

OutrageousCapital906

The 3 of them were never bad when they played together. They were actually extremely good. Just couldn’t stay healthy.

GGAllinsMicroPenis

Yeah wasn't their record like 18-2 or some shit when they played together?

Zealousideal_Line340

the title of the post is “disappointing” the fact that they were great together and just couldn’t get on the court at the same time just adds to the disappointment

governedbycitizens

ehh when they were on the court together they were amazing, basically a KD foot away from a chip
