Only the worst two 3rd placed teams don’t qualify for the next round. Croatia has 2 points and if Hungary didn’t win they would have 1 point but we already have 3 points which means we couldn’t have been worse than them even if we finished 3rd in our group. The results in other groups wouldn’t have mattered for us.
If Hungary didn’t win the only thing that would have stopped us from getting to the next round would have been finishing last in the group by losing to Czechia and Georgia beating Portugal
honestly if this mentality exists with the players (I hope it doesn't) we are doomed from the beginning. Guarantee no other team does the math to see the bare minimum they need to go through. We should play our game play offensively and go grab the game by the throat.
I'd rather lose a game we give our all too then a game where we pussy foot for a result. Those games just never work. Look at Swiss vs Germany, swiss didn't cower away from all mighty Germany. They took the game to them and almost won.
The stronger we can finish the groups the better chance we have in the next game because we can build some confidence and momentum
