Key-Constant-5717

At some point it's going to become more about the super high tech Bat suit and less about the man in the suit and at that point he's just goth iron man

jBlairTech

It’s amazing how Batman came first, but he’s evolving (devolving, maybe?) into Iron Man. Just gotta wait for the Kryptonian ARC reactor in the shape of a bat.

Key-Constant-5717

I'd love to see a Batman '39 comic or show where it's him, his brains, his physical skills and the absolute bare bones in gadgets. Bullet proof vest, grappling gun, some smoke bombs, etc and that's it.

whatproblems

adam west batman has a bat spray for every occasion! also conveniently labeled

jBlairTech

Same. I grew tired of every writer having to justify him being on the Justice League by giving him more and more tech, or deus ex machina’s for the League, and everything else. It’s almost as if he’s become Tony Stark, and Oliver McQueen has become Bruce Wayne, what he once was. He isn’t super powerful; he’s a normal dude. But that’s what makes him unique.

Key-Constant-5717

I've been reading a lot of Batman stories from the Seventies and there's much more emphasis on him as a man who can do extraordinary things, but he's far away from the Batgod he eventually comes to be depicted as

jBlairTech

My cousins had a bunch of those old Batbooks. They’re so much better than what we get today.

Key-Constant-5717

The Seventies penthouse Batman era was awesome. There was a real James Bond vibe going on

GodFlintstone

I actually want the opposite. I'd like a more lean, comic-accurate silhouette for the costume. The look of the Batman has been getting bulkier since the Nolan films. For example, there were scenes in Justice League where Batfleck was looking more like the Michelin Man. These are comic book movies about billionaire using his unlimited financial resources to fight crime. If they want to explain how he can take big hits just "John Wick" it and have Lucious Fox design a flexible, lightweight armor that lines the inside of his costume. Problem solved.

[deleted]

Isn’t that the in canon comic explanation for his sleek batsuit?

Cyke101

If it's good enough for reentry, it's good enough for Batman.

dexanor

Literally just make some fictional light weight durable material to make it out of

jBlairTech

It’s a vibro-unobtain-adamantium weave, with…ummm… ah, hell, let’s say Krypton tech built in. It stops bullets, protects the wearer from *anything*- until the plot calls for drama.

ddhboy

Have Zod show up, disgusted at this human wearing Kryptonian battle armor (thanks Clark). Zod promptly burns and destroys the armor and get's a good punch in on Batman, toying with him, monologging something. Then Batman saves himself by triggering something or other that disables Zod for long enough for Superman to join his side and counter attack.

MIAxPaperPlanes

Not that I’m complaining but didn’t we just get a pretty lean Batman with Robert Pattinson? Sure he had armor but it wasn’t anything like Ben Affleck’s (that said I did like his suit in BvS)

D_for_Drive

I’d also like to see Batman in more of his role as a detective. I think Batman should be shown outsmarting his opponents in a way that reduces how often he has to be involved in physical altercations. More Rogue, less Fighter.

External-Rope6322

Personally in media (and as a collector) I like a more armored batman to go with my justice league then the spandex to go with my batman display

dohnutshop

Wouldn't mind seeing the thrasher suit from the Court of Owls storyline

Namfluence

For me, Batman’s suits work best if he looks agile enough to convincingly dodge bullets, not stop them. Maybe something lightweight that could tank a few stray pistol rounds but not like a shotgun shell. Either way in a Justice League situation he shouldn’t be able to take a direct hit from anyone superpowered. If they can punch with enough force to put Clark on his ass they’ll liquify Bruce inside his suit.

Many-Outside-7594

I like that Batman's costume is often a reflection of his current state of mind, and mission. The bright blue cowl and spandex were the Hallmark of campy 60's Batman, out solving petty street crime and enjoying his celebrity. As the losses and trauma started to mount, he moves to the black cowl, then the all black costume. In nightmare futures, he is fully militarized with armor and heavy munitions, ready to cripple and kill as necessary. When he loses his mind, he gets that ridiculous multi colored outfit. So it depends on the story. What is his state of mind? The costume should reflect that accordingly.

[deleted]

Why ask here ?

PhilAsp

Personally I hate the full armor look, even if it’s more “believable”. I think *The Batman* probably succeeded the best (in live action) in terms of finding a good middle ground, and I’d take a similar approach for the DCU, even if I’m hoping for a radically different design. Combine the Batfleck approach with the Battinson approach and I think we might have a winner. Which I guess puts us in Arkham Origins territory.

Vicksage16

Definitely not, believability isn’t a huge factor for me in my superhero movies though. I’d rather watch a Batman with more freedom of movement and agility, with a focus on stealth fast combat than tanking hits.

[deleted]

Technically could lace his suit/armor with some nth metal

Leafybug13

Nah

LarryTheLazyAss

I usually go for mild armor, but a lot of the armored suits are cool as fuck. Although I'm never bothered by the suits without it. I don't usually see him just taking bullets in a suit that's clearly made of paper so I don't have much issue with it. Maybe that'll change if a skin suit is featured in live action but until that day I'll never know.

Asherk90

It didn't look heavy in "the Batman" but the way he shrugged off bullets and whatnot. Yeah!

AbbreviationsLow1393

He should have a suit painted onto his naked body

bruhchow

No, I don’t think I like the really bulky thick armors for batman, the fact of the matter is if he really was facing someone that dangerous (i assume this post is alluding about him fighting kryptonians or darkseid) the armor just won’t matter. BvS really soured my viewpoint on this type of armor because of how little it helped him and how sluggish it made him look.

WordsOfRadiants

I don't see why it would, he ended up winning that fight, and while it wasn't the deciding factor, even with the kryptonite, he would've been unable to win without it.

bruhchow

I think the deciding factor was more superman not wanting to kill him(though he did consider it) than anything else, Superman wasn’t really fighting him but rather subduing him in an attempt to get him to listen whereas bats was going full force. Batman was also fighting doomsday moments later in his regular suit and came out rather unscathed.

WordsOfRadiants

I don't think there was one deciding factor, more like a perfect storm. But if even 1 of those components were missing, the outcome would've been very different. And tbf, Batman didn't do much fighting, it was mostly Superman and Wonder Woman. Most of what he did was barely dodging, and taking shelter behind debris and Wonder Woman.

NickFries55

Nah just make up a reason for his fabric being armor, then let the rest be suspension of disbelief.

suprmniii

Batman is the second smartest person in the world: I think it's plenty believable that he can fight metahumans through other means

Janclo

No this isn’t marvel, we like the comic book stuff.

Zuero300

No, I'm tired of Batman using body armour. I want spandex or a more light armor. Like Earth One Batman said: "body armour says that a guy needs it" not on these exact words

KingofZombies

No. just cloth. It looks better. It's a sci-fi setting, they can just say is special cloth that is bulletproof and bam! no need for silly armor anymore

Gmork14

No, the point of JL movies is that they’re less believable. There’s nothing believable about Batman fighting alongside Superman.

SnooCats8451

I liked the earlier movie suits (Keaton) it was armor but wasn’t overly bulky….it was essentially just bullet proof not high artillery just hand gun/machine gun proofed which kind of fit with the Nolan batsuits…the only real upgrade to the Nolan suits were making the cowls neck movable…..I’d love to see a combo of the Keaton suits with the Nolan suits…the Keaton aesthetics with the Nolan movability in the head/neck

AgentOfBatman

I want a Batman that’s smart and skilled enough that he can believably not put himself in a position to take a hit from a super powered enemy. Unless it was a strategic move like when he faced Darkseid and threatened him with his hellspores.

sephiro7h

i think stealth, misdirection and tactics should be a much, much bigger thing. he shouldn't be taking a single hit. he should also be using more of his villains' gadgets ala the arkham games. fear gas, manipulation of plants, cryo gun. his armour/suit should be a reflection of his paranoia and tendency to be over-prepared. he should always be wearing what will counter his current enemies the most at any point time.

justagirlinterrupted

What's this image from?

Zealousideal-Pin-605

I’d say it’d work if it has the Telltale suit design

SpaceCowboy1929

I'm of the opinion that, depending on the context of course, Batman shouldn't be directly trading blows at all with superpowered beings that would challenge the Justice League. Obviously your milage may vary on this but I find it kind of boring when you have Batman having to resort to wearing essentially Iron Man armor to fight bad guys when he's way more interesting being more of a strategist for the team. Or taking down mooks using stealth. Or being a detective and gathering clues. Basically he's the rogue in the D&D party and not the Fighter. So I prefer him focusing more on skills that make him stand out from the rest of the League.

Hero_Fall

I think it was an old issue of Wizard Magazine that had a cross section of Batman's costume that Jim Lee drew, showing how he had a layer of super high tech armor under his suit. The idea was that he's well armored, but doesn't look like it to the average street thug. I really prefer this to the heavy looking armor that they keep using in movies and games.

Would-Be-Superhero

Yes. Make it believable. We live in the tech era.

Calibre4275

No. He's a ninja, not a tank. He isn't supposed to take hits from metahumans, he's supposed to out-think them.

stafax

While I didn't care for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, the [Hulk vs Iron Man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSG5iHK9Scw) scene made Batman's armor in Batman V Superman look goofy from the get go. Iron Man is basically wearing a battle tank and is still getting torn apart.

[deleted]

r/batman

BecauseImBatmanFilms

I think it depends on the villains and their plans. I'd probably say, no armor when fighting hoards of faceless goons on earth, just have him in the Batmobile or Batwing. Then if we're in space, have something that is partial space suit, partial power suit.

the_fancy_Tophat

i like how the arkham games did it. most nights, the durable spandex works. but when he's going up against an army, he brings in the armor.

coreytiger

No, I want BATMAN, not swat-gear guy. I want to see him in a LESS armored suit so we can see him move and jump and do the acrobatics he’s supposed to. Used to be Batman was smarter, scarier, and better than the goons, now he just stands there in a hail of bullets.

ClandestineCornfield

No.

AHangedMan

The heavy armor look should only be wheeled out for complete "oh shit" moments, when Batman decides there's no other move to make (and probably doesn't expect to survive). He has the resources and the capability, and in a greater universe, the connections, so it's not that it doesn't make sense as a plot point. But whereas I think you've got to strike a balance between believable protection and mobility/stealth, I've also never been one of those people hoping for spandex in the films. I think *Batman Begins* has a great concept for the bodysuit, but it's under-designed and I think the neckless rubber cowl needs to be done. *The Dark Knight* had the opposite problem. I think I get what Batffleck was going for, but I don't think they pulled it off, and has an even worse cowl than *Begins*. I like the lightweight riot armor concept a la *The Batman* and *Batman: Arkham Origins*, I just hope it gets less industrial-looking as the films go along, which seems the likely move.

Hungry_Ad3576

The plan is usually to not grt hut. That's why he wears durable but flexible materials generally and on breaks out the big guns in limited circumstances

Willing2BeMoving

I'd like a Batman who's smart enough not to square off against Darkseid for a 1v1. Come up with a plan that lets Superman do that. If he takes a hit from a metahuman he should spend the rest of the show in traction. Bigger and bigger armor suits that still can't match kryptonian strength is silly.

gzapata_art

I think the right actor with the right attitude is all the believability we need. Someone with the confidence to pull off being a human among gods is what I want in a Batman existing with meta humans around
