Same! Proud Goochland High grad here. I always said it’s between Dick and Butt counties, but the Short Pump connection never resonated until your comment 😂
For real. I get that more and more jobs are digitised now, but I miss more blue collar people! (And more people over the age of 40 - there are 3 in this cast and 0 over 50.)
I feel like it's been extra apparent in the last few seasons especially, although I've never done any kind of statistical breakdown. They also used to have more returnee seasons (we're soon due for one, IMO), which tended to skew older with more returning players.
The lack of age diversity is just astounding, it would be nice to see diversity in professions, the blue collar or especially the US military. You know , like a representation of the US.
Definitely. I feel like fans have been increasingly calling out this lack of age and SES diversity for a while now, so I really hope TPTB are listening.
I think they should do themes like occupation at least once.
I would absolutely love to see an all healthcare one with nurses and doctors. It would be such a fucking mess.
Survivor 50.
We've done something that has never been done before. We have managed to clone a human being, and we are bringing that clone to the beach.
Survivor 50: Bruce vs Bruce vs Bruce.
26 days. 18 Bruces. 1 Sole Survivor!
WTF No lawyers, please tell me there are at least 4-5 Ivy league peeps in here or Season 46 a bust. L
/s
Where's my rando restaurant/retail employee at? You know the hungry for the money types.
I hope not because there was a VERY exciting stretch of episodes in S45 where both Bruce and Julie were top competitors by a long shot! Fuck those youngins!
I’d even like to see some more people in their 40s! Why are there so many young dudes? I hope we don’t get a season of Xanders who just win challenges and get idols and then never do anything else. :-/
They get literally thousands of applicants. I find it hard to believe there aren't at least a few more 40-something and 50-something folks they could pull from that crowd.
I have a theory that they really only have about 50 or so viable options each season. It feels like every season we hear that the people casted were finalists for several seasons prior. I think people underestimate how many submissions are downright awful and how many people melt under the pressure of cameras and lights even if they get the call.
I'm really curious about it. I know Jeff has talked about casting on his podcast before, but I do genuinely wonder how many viable candidates they have per season...
My same thought about people asking about career diversity, too. Income inequality is worse today than it was 20 years ago, there's a reason that lower-paid professions are not as likely to end up on a show that requires up to a month of forgoing your wages. Healthcare bites, there's a reason older people may be less willing to do something dangerous for a slight chance at $1M.
I mean the thing is would you know Coach was how he is just based on a photo and his occupation? I don't think Soccer Coach really sells the whole coach story.
Of all the players, I’m super intrigued by the first impression Coach makes on people in real life, outside of Survivor.
The dude is way too much for me in an island setting, but I can’t decide if I would find him lovably eccentric in real life or absolutely unbearable.
(I loathe to admit this, but I also kind of wonder how he is in bed 😂 I feel like maybe he does a lot of heavy breathing or maybe even hums or something…but also may know just the perfect spot to put the right amount of pressure on, based on some kundalini meditation or something 🤣)
Coach was a regular, degular hippie-ster-esq, looking white man with an out of this world personality… anyone can be that no matter their proclaimed profession.
Remember when there was a “Kelly” on like every season? Wild to me that “Mariah” of all names is the new Kelly, that none of them have had the most common or well-known spelling, and that Moriah has a very low bar of 16th place to clear
Someone up thread pointed out that those in lower paid industries or those without good benefits can probably not often afford to or be able to take a month off of work. Income equality has nosedived since the show premiered too.
Aight, now let’s do some returnees for 47 and/or 48. We’ve had a ton of quality players these last three years—not to mention all those from HHH thru IotI, who equally deserve a shot at redemption
I miss when we had more diversity in the occupations - we get more amazing characters. We need more blue collar workers. The new era players are all so similar that they just kind of all blend together.
Tim's going to beat Maria and David at FTC, Bhanu is everyone's favorite but gets voted out at final 7 or something and Venus quits day 4. Just some random predictions lol
We need more castaways from Pittsburgh! Of the three contestants from Pittsburgh, 2 have won (Jenna Morasca, Amber Brkich) and the other placed second (Heidi Lagares).
I went to high school with Charlie! He was wicked smart and a big runner back then, no doubt 8 years has changed him but I think he’ll be a strong contender
Genuinely excited to have two southerners from relatively small towns in this one (even if Senatobia is closer to a suburb of Memphis). As a midwesterner from a small-ish town, it makes me hopeful that folks like me can still get cast regularly!
I’m picking Hunter or Maria for the win based on this very minimal information 😂 I wanna write my initial thoughts on who I think will annoy me or I’ll like and come back to it at the end of the season. See how it stacks up.
Looks like they removed all the middle aged and mature players....😥😥😥😥
Survivor producers: You need an equal balance of generations to improve the show. It cannot be dominated by millenials. We get the same archetypes and content on repeat.

From GOOCHLAND?!?!?!?!?!?!
SHOUTOUT MY HOME AREA!!!!! We have a Goochland and a Short Pump right by each other
Same! Proud Goochland High grad here. I always said it’s between Dick and Butt counties, but the Short Pump connection never resonated until your comment 😂
Being from Farmville, we finally have a somewhat hometown cast member to cheer for!
Holy shit was this area built around a humorous names contest?
Also: Bumpass.
rva area let's go!!!
This has to be a joke right?!?!
Nope. They're northern suburbs of Richmond, VA.
And as someone from that area, literally never made that connection/joke until the original comment
That face tho
ICONIC
Northern VA checking in!! Proud to see a Virginian on the new season!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
804 let's go
Sometimes I just really want them to cast someone who works at a drive-thru
Ice cream scooper
Look! That's Jeff Probst! He's just standing there!!
You’re a freak, Erik.
and look what happened to him lol
He literally provided an entertaining ass moment w that which would’ve otherwise been a boring vote. The show will never forget
He was my goat. Put respect on his name.
I know someone who works in fast food and has applied every year and made it pretty far but hasn’t been chosen yet
Genie from 41 and Ryan from 43 are probably the closest we've gotten, with their jobs listed as "Grocery Clerk" and "Warehouse Associate".
For real. I get that more and more jobs are digitised now, but I miss more blue collar people! (And more people over the age of 40 - there are 3 in this cast and 0 over 50.)
I was happy to see "hair stylist."
Slot machine sales specialist is my number one!
At the tender age of 21
I was wondering if this was normal now? I watched survivor a lot years ago and hadn’t lately and this cast felt sooo young.
Sabiyah was a truck driver!
Coconut vendor
As a coconut vendor, not only does he vend coconuts, he also seeks truth.
a seer of real
An uncomfortable hugger
People who work drive through can't afford to take a month off work
Liz looks like a mix of Emily and Brandon donlon
I think she looks like Carson
Was just about to comment this. It’s really weirding me out
Maybe some Kane.
She looks like the biggest super fan lol
Crazy to me that we got a Tevin before we got a Kevin.
There hasn’t ever been a single Kevin??
Never lol. And only one Kevin internationally
As a watcher from season 1 one when it first aired this wild to me.
What's even wilder is s46 Tevin will be the second Tevin in Survivor 🤣
No lawyers and just one law student. A real variety of occupations this time
A lot of "salespeople" though
I think they should do themes like occupation at least once. I would absolutely love to see an all healthcare one with nurses and doctors. It would be such a fucking mess.
Construction project managers would bring the drama too!
Contractors vs architects vs engineers
Electricians vs plumbers vs carpenters Then we can finally answer this.
On this season of survivor, a bunch of party clowns….
Human Resources on one team, electrical engineers on the other.
[удалено]
For one season I want one of these occupations to just say "some guy"
Sloat machine sales specialist feels pretty close to that
I'm genuinely excited for slot machine sales specialist 😹
Same
I wouldn’t be surprised if we have a professional ‘superfan’ soon. BBCAN had one
Wasn’t Brandon listed as “Russel Hantz’s Nephew”?
Zaphod Beeblebrox - Just This Guy, [Y'know?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmvHY-h8bSo)
I pick the guy who presumably managed to get promoted all the way to Slot Machine Sales Specialist within months of his 21st birthday 😂
Specialist is usually an entry-level title
"Specialist" = Slightly fancier job title, more responsibilities, still minimum wage somehow
Less than minimum, make the rest on “commissions”
It’s funny because at my company a “specialist” engineer is almost the highest level.
I like to think his job is to induce people to use slot machines and he's just like "Put the quarter in- its so easy! you can win like a lot!"
Lol I love this take. “Gambling Addict Enabler”
No Bruce?? I thought he was on every season now.
L /s Where's my rando restaurant/retail employee at? You know the hungry for the money types.
They’d likely lose their job by taking off for a month.
I can see the Bhanu Canoe comin from a mile away
Quintavius is a cool ass name
The names are sending me. Quintavius, Venus, Sodasia, Jem, and many more. Can’t wait to see the misspellings.
Imagine Sue Hawk trying to write down one of these names at tribal
Survivor 46 trying to one up big brother 25 Red, Blue, America, Jag
Honestly when they had Red, Blue and America I was really bummed they didn't find someone named White to round it all out
It reminds me of that Key & Peele college football skit
Quintavius Darvarius. University of Miami.
He played for Ole Miss. made an NFL. Real cool guy.
He played football at Ole Miss
Disappointed i don’t get to be the first ever contestant from charlotte tbh
Just happy to see some 704 representation!
lol my homie knows Kenzie and said he thinks she goes far (based on literally no intel lmao)
I missread Hunters hometown as his occupation and got very confused what kind of job “French Champ” is
I actually think it might be a misprint and should be French Camp
Bring back at least one old person. 40 being the maxout age when today 40 is the new 30 is a disgrace. It's 26 days, give us a 60 year old.
At 35, I discovered I would now be considered old on survivor….
Maria Gonzalez is 47
Not going to lie when I saw the last chick I thought to myself and Venus was her name
You got it, oh baby you’ve got it
Kenzie used to do my hair!!! This is sick to see haha
What’s she like? What kind of player do you think she’ll be?
I guess they won't cast anyone in their 50s or 60s anymore? I miss the large age ranges.
Lol we are literally within a year of seeing the second oldest winner (gabler) in survivor history.
And Mike (42) ran circles around his cast in his mid 50s as well.
They can only cast the people that apply
They get literally thousands of applicants. I find it hard to believe there aren't at least a few more 40-something and 50-something folks they could pull from that crowd.
I have a theory that they really only have about 50 or so viable options each season. It feels like every season we hear that the people casted were finalists for several seasons prior. I think people underestimate how many submissions are downright awful and how many people melt under the pressure of cameras and lights even if they get the call.
I'm really curious about it. I know Jeff has talked about casting on his podcast before, but I do genuinely wonder how many viable candidates they have per season...
I think the fact that Jeff has a promo every episode encouraging people to apply supports my theory that it’s not as many as some would think.
Nice try changing your name to David Jelinsky, Jack Harlow! We are not fooled!
RIP all those players who played after S35 waiting for a returnee season.
All the casts look the same lately. Nothing wrong with the way these people look lol but I want some craziness back. Give me a Shambo or coach
Brad from 42 (??) and Gabler were a bit crazy
Carolyn
& Sifu this season was compared to Coach every single week.
Sifu shouldn’t have been compared to coach ever lol. Dude was just a little goofy.
Yeah, whoever was comparing him to Coach needs to go back and watch Tocantins lol
Gabler fits for sure.
Broccoli Brad
I mean the thing is would you know Coach was how he is just based on a photo and his occupation? I don't think Soccer Coach really sells the whole coach story.
The feathers would have tipped us off.
Of all the players, I’m super intrigued by the first impression Coach makes on people in real life, outside of Survivor. The dude is way too much for me in an island setting, but I can’t decide if I would find him lovably eccentric in real life or absolutely unbearable. Homie you need to get you sum 😁
Coach was a regular, degular hippie-ster-esq, looking white man with an out of this world personality… anyone can be that no matter their proclaimed profession.
Yep. Like they were generated from a survivor cast AI generator.
idk liz is giving shambo to me lmao
this not the first look at this cast lmao
Hey come on now. It’s the first look I’ve had since the cast was leaked 6 months ago, has to count for something lol.
"FIRST LOOK" [a screenshot of Inside Survivor from July]
This is the biggest karma grab I’ve ever seen
Excuse my ignorance but what's a French champ?
He's a teacher, he is from French Camp, Mississippi
Omg. I thought "MS" stood for French Champ Master of Science... despite seeing all the previous towns/states listed.
I read this the same, I was like wow diverse he’s a French champ and a chemistry teacher. Then realised its a place
Remember when there was a “Kelly” on like every season? Wild to me that “Mariah” of all names is the new Kelly, that none of them have had the most common or well-known spelling, and that Moriah has a very low bar of 16th place to clear
Ben Katzman has a wild Instagram. He’s giving me Shane vibes.
No lawyers????
I just want a returnee season 😩
Pleased to see this cast trending a little older, 45 was wildly young I think only 4 people over 30
Median age of 45: 28 Median age of 46: 29.5 Average age of 45: 29.9 Average age of 46: 31
Why does it seem like they have a big push away from blue collar esque jobs like they used to have?
Someone up thread pointed out that those in lower paid industries or those without good benefits can probably not often afford to or be able to take a month off of work. Income equality has nosedived since the show premiered too.
The payout is also $10k less per contestant without the reunion show.
Jesse confirmed on Tyson's podcast this week that the new era contestants are still getting paid the $10k "reunion show" money.
Oh that’s good. Maybe they should have one then 😂
You don’t become famous anymore for being on the show so it’s hard to leave a paying job for a 1/18 chance at a $600k.
I was just about to post this! Huge imbalance towards white collar professionals
Will Maria or Moriah fall to the M curse?
They really don't like blue collar people anymore
I default to always root for Canadians because we are a rare (and very successful) breed on survivor so let’s go Venus!
I wanted Kaleb to win so bad, he was just so blatantly good at the game that everyone had to vote him out 😭 at least we get to see him on the jury
Rooting for Venus Vafa
Aight, now let’s do some returnees for 47 and/or 48. We’ve had a ton of quality players these last three years—not to mention all those from HHH thru IotI, who equally deserve a shot at redemption
I miss when we had more diversity in the occupations - we get more amazing characters. We need more blue collar workers. The new era players are all so similar that they just kind of all blend together.
Tevin looks like he about to stir some shit
Picking Charlie to win strictly because Manchester By the Sea is a masterpiece.
why did they stop casting people over 50? Rudy was 70
Jeff bro. You're nearly 63. Cast some people over 45. So sick of all the 20-30 year old gamebots.
Kenzie looks like a crazy person, Tim looks like AJ Dillon and Tevin looks like Big Brother casting
More people in their late 20s, 30s and 40s. Appreciate that.
Once again, way too limited on ages. Come on....
42 yo old Indian man lfg Bhanu!
I'm a simple man. I see an attractive redhead I watch lol.
Tim's going to beat Maria and David at FTC, Bhanu is everyone's favorite but gets voted out at final 7 or something and Venus quits day 4. Just some random predictions lol
Moriah is doomed
Wen next returnee season?
We need more castaways from Pittsburgh! Of the three contestants from Pittsburgh, 2 have won (Jenna Morasca, Amber Brkich) and the other placed second (Heidi Lagares).
Is this season more Southern than usual?
Too heavily young. Age dynamics are inherently good for conflict and for unexpected friendships.
What happened to the jacked dudes and bombshells?
bhanu, charlie, pls represent. also, first contestants from mississippi?
Darrah was the first from Mississippi, back in Pearl Islands.
Immediately stanning Venus and Maria. Neither of them will win. I'll be amazed if either of them make the merge. But we stan.
I'm gambling on the Torontonian Woman. There track record so far is unmatched (Erika, Maryanne and Shan).
LOOK at that man’s face from GOOCHLAND
Not one person over 50 is disappointing. Young people make it so boring and whiney.
Can we get some age range in the casting?
I just realized looking at this cast that this is the first season since S14: Fiji to have no blonde women
Why dont they cast many working class anymore
Is it only me or do newer seasons (post-covid) just look softer?
Two back-to-back seasons with no hot guys!? Don't @ me lol
"Email marketing specialist". Is that a fancy way to say "spammer"?
Tim Spicer gonna win
Damn that’s literally my good friend’s hairstylist 😂
Mississippi eating good next season
I have not read anything but I've been told 46 is fairly exhaustively spoiled so be careful next season folks
I’m picking Hunter or Maria for the win based on this very minimal information 😂 I wanna write my initial thoughts on who I think will annoy me or I’ll like and come back to it at the end of the season. See how it stacks up.
I always pick my winner based on who has the best name. Some good competition this season, but I gotta go with Sodasia, absolutely fire name.
someone in this cast dated one of the worst people I have ever met in my life so that's something 😂
Tevin Davis looking like a Bond villain
I wish we had at least 2 contestants 60+
Omg! I know Moriah Gaynor!
I predict Charlie to be the most island hot
Liz is giving super fan and lowly BB25 Izzy vibes. She looks like a good hang. Can’t wait to see.
Looks like they removed all the middle aged and mature players....😥😥😥😥 Survivor producers: You need an equal balance of generations to improve the show. It cannot be dominated by millenials. We get the same archetypes and content on repeat.
Well, I’ve never known anyone on the show before! Should be interesting!
