Yeah fair LOL, but also didn’t Michael this time around confirm that all the songs are going on the next album? That could be me brutally misunderstanding something he said
I’m gonna be honest and say that I’m fine with just two. 2 hours feels like the perfect length for experimenting without feeling overly drawn out or time draining for the band. Of course it’s up to preference but with their current style that’s what has been working.
"In the case of “The Beggar,” it has now morphed into an entirely new piece of music and we’ve just recorded it in Berlin with new words." It's from the No skips Michael Gira interview https://www.thepitchkc.com/no-skips-swans-the-beggar-with-michael-gira/
Does increased length equate to a better album? Personally, I don't find that The Beggar has improved significantly as a composition since the start of the tour last year, though they have added nearly an hour to it since then. So first and foremost, I'm hoping for an album that is the best it can possibly be, musically, lyrically and sonically, and I don't think bogging the songs down with needless length is necessary to accomplish that (or even particularly desirable in the first place). I know this is an unpopular opinion to hold on this forum, but there we are.
I thought MG said the era of 3lp Swans records was over due to manufacturing costs? 2lps would limit it to 100 minutes at most for optimum sound quality.
the 2017 tour had two 50 minute songs and it was followed up with an album clocking in at less than 100 minutes
i.e. probably not, but I could see another 2 hour album in the works
That makes sense to me

Yeah no I am too I was just wondering
There’s a chance but it’ll probably be more in the range of an hour and a half to two hours and a half.
i can live in hope
It's Friday and that's Low
Supposedly a new version of The Beggar was recorded…but it’s 30 minutes not 80.
Where did you get that info from? Actually interested in why it is 30 and not 80
There was an interview where Gira said the song was recorded with new lyrics, the length wasn't mentioned though
Source? That sounds so cool if true

Good point
I’d rather they make shorter albums now
You and me both. Many of the best Swans (and related) albums are somewhere in the 70 minute range.

Don't expect 80 minutes beggar, p sure gira mentioned they already had the studio version of the new one recorded and it's around 30ish mins
Where did you see this?
One of the interviews during the tour I'll check through them later
Found it!
Could u send the link

That would make sense
I don't think the chances are good but I will keep hope
I don’t think they’d want to make anything larger than 2 discs
