And I’m already BEGGING for a new album lol. The beggar is a fantastic album. I much prefer it over leaving meaning tbh

xatozz

broski is the real beggar

preschooljuul

Great album, but I have a feeling thier next will blow this and Leaving Meaning out of the water.

Beneficial-Swimmer64

I love that I have the same feeling ngl. I've only been exposed to just some bits of new material and only on the internet and I am way stoked for what's next, specially a possible studio adaptation of the behemoth live The Beggar version.

kuroryu233

They've already recorded the new beggar for the album, said in an interview forget which one tho

I agree. The entire beggar lover track doesn't really work for me. It kind of just sounds like a bunch of random ideas and old recordings thrown together and it doesn't flow very well.

fallllingman

It doesn’t work for me because most of Swans’ 30 minute epics themselves grew out of other songs performed throughout their career, meaning that a direct career summation sound collage doesn’t feel necessary, especially when it feels far less natural than much shorter songs that have seemingly accomplished as much.  The music feels occasionally discordant and the song is just unnecessarily long while recycling old ideas (not only from better songs, but taking the concept of The Body Haters), artificially lengthening the album into an epic it is not. If you want to listen to a 45 minute Swans song, try something like The Knot, I’d even rather a version of the extended Beggar be on the album—Swans still has it in them to make something of this scale, they just didn’t do it with TBL3.

Roofy11

honestly that's my favourite part of it. I never really thought they seemed super dissonant or off tune tbh. It sounds super mysterious and kinda creepy and almost fantasy like. honestly it was the part of the album that got the most stuck in my head when i listened to it, like the sort of stuck in your head where you have a craving to listen to it again.

aNewFaceInHell

listens to Swans while carrying a clipboard around

messianicscone

After listening to the live versions, I just can’t go back to the Beggar. The Beggar is by no means bad, but songs like the Memorious have developed so much live

MrFilm270

Agreed, the live versions from this tour makes it difficult to go back to the album. The new version of the beggar (plus intro) is incredible. Personally, it’s right up there with The Knot for me.

Active_Childhood_212

Once the live album releases I am buying a copy immediately because of how good the concerts were

throwartatthewall

Somehow it's peak Swans material. Saw them twice this tour and the first time was incredible but they had developed so so much by the end of the tour. It was even better

White___Light

This.

Those two songs are like a majority of the show lol. The beggar is now over an hour long

Wooden-Computer1475

Honestly I think it's one of their best. It's not 100% perfect, but honestly I think I like to be kind and GA the same amount as it

ninjakirby1969

It's their 2nd best imo. I love the atmosphere it builds

scc1p

Still my second favourite after The Seer. Also seeing them playing this album live has to be a peak life (not live) experience.

a_zealous_idealist

I like it a lot. Beggar Lover Three is great. The Beggar, Ebbing, Parasite, and some others are definite standouts. I'm not a fan of the country-ish moments like No More of This. I agree with those saying the songs were better live. I think this would have been one of their best had they the chance to tour the material first. Still very excited for what's to come

LorenzoPaiano

too derivative. after 40 years of career, Gira made an album that sounds exclusively made "for fans". it's still a good record with great lyrics and great highlights (like ebbing or michael is done), but i think that it's their weakest one since my father will guide me up a rope to the sky. hopefully, the new one is going to be a more cutting-edge experience

Visionary-heads

I have tried countless times to really enjoy this album and whilst taken individually I have no real issues with any of the songs, (although I do think the beggar lover is their weakest epic track), when tied together as an album it just somehow leaves me feeling a bit frustrated and indifferent. I prefer all of the other reunion albums over this one.

vapre

I would like to thank the magnificent hero who leaked the 192kbps version a week or two before I got my copy in the mail, it was a welcome distraction.

Accurate_Advisor4985

Fantastic. My third favorite swans record

masutechture

It had passed me by; I find it forgettable vs Leaving Meaning which feels like it has some more unique moments compared to the rest of the discography I am really intrigued about the live versions though

darkus1012

It’s on my top 5 swans albums from their discography, i thought it was great on first listen and still continue to love it since and it gave me the opportunity to see swans live twice for the first time

MrBean_OfficialNSFW

And I only just got around to listening to it

Shamanarts

I still can't have what I want when I want it☠️💯⚖️🎼☮️☯️😎🌴🤘

Eliaskar23

Any updates on when the live album is coming?
