In his defense, he needed to call someone who he went to primary school with, so he needed to call someone from Peru.
Compare his attempt to Guy Williams, who didn't register that he could have called his brother who was sitting right across from him
Same!! Im actually on the final episode of Season 1 and I almost don't want to finish it, like in all other seasons you grow attached to the cast but Taskmaster NZ season 1 team had such an amazing arc, they started off so awkward but by the end they truly became a group of friends... I'm sobbing at how beautiful it was to watch them grow
Fun-fact: when this episode first aired I stopped watching *just* before this moment. We're talking seconds before it occurred. I stopped watching because I wasn't engaged and found it all a bit sedate. Had I've waited just a tiny bit longer I would've realised my mistake.
LOL I literally just started watching TM NZ two days ago and that was the best part. Glad to see other people say the season gets better, because the episode is pretty awkward.
Oh, yes! It does! the beginning episodes of S1 are awkward with the covid regulations and finding the format. It absolutely does get better. (If you want, watch TMNZ S2 first, then go back and watch S1. You'll be more forgiving that way.)
The second half of the series is genuinely Great with a capital gee. First half gets better progressively. You just gotta stomach the first 2-3 eps (or skip âem).
Most of it's popularity stems from season two, and more recently season four. It's second season is the first where Alex started adapting tasks from, and the cast is arguably more chaotic and unhinged than any of the UK series. The first and third start a bit more awkward because of reduced audience from our staggered covid lockdowns.
You've probably seen it said before, but honestly this is nothing compared to the chaos you're gonna experience in Series 2 hahahaha
David Correos should be cast in stone and named a national treasure (if he hasnât already)
He represents the fine nation of New Zealand to the highest possible standard
This is my first watch through of S2 and I concur wholeheartedly
I've just finished season 2 and honestly, I think I'm just going to sit and watch it again. Absolutely brilliant!
I've heard it so many times! I can't wait. I'm enjoying S1 so far even if it's commonly referred to as awkward and slow.
The TM NZ house's leaf blower should basically get a cast credit
NZ S1 has convinced me that leaf blowers are the ultimate multipurpose tool

Ahhh, TMNZ is so good. (For that task, I would have prepared a cocktail of sherry, perry and berries, served in a jerry can.)
My first though was immediately: Rum, Flavouring of Bubble Gum, Plum, served in a drum.
Oh, nice! I'd try that drinks order!
Leigh hart is so good
He's *whhhickedly* talented.
You mean the guy who couldn't find a friend to call for 30 minutes straight
In his defense, he needed to call someone who he went to primary school with, so he needed to call someone from Peru. Compare his attempt to Guy Williams, who didn't register that he could have called his brother who was sitting right across from him
My first impression of him was sooo bad. He won me over immediately after this.
Agreed. "Top up?" sealed it for me.
Yes, please.
I love That Guy (Leigh) so much. If you can find any old eps of Moon TV I would def recommend
Or late night big breakfast
Mysterious planet is well worth a watch too
The moon tv youtube channel has so much of his content. Or his website moonflix I think doesn't have regional locks
https://www.moonflix.co.nz/
I feel like I just unlocked so much content.

And then you'll have the glorious NZ season 2 to experience for the first time. God I envy you.
I'm starting it now. Will report back in a few.
It was so awkward! I feel like an outsider too as opposed to how I feel watching UK. We're all just finding our dynamics.
Taskmaster NZ is built different. It's so wild!
Fun-fact: when this episode first aired I stopped watching *just* before this moment. We're talking seconds before it occurred. I stopped watching because I wasn't engaged and found it all a bit sedate. Had I've waited just a tiny bit longer I would've realised my mistake.
Yeah, I felt it was almost clinical up until that point. Leaf blower gets engaged and I'm like ...'that my friends is how to play this game.'
The moment that made me laugh the most in any TM

So awkward lol I'm still on S1 but I feel like they're finding their stride. I can't wait to see what everyone goes on about in S2.
Leigh and the leaf blower in ep one showed they understood the brief
Leaf Blower Gang đ¤
If you want more of that energy check out Leigh's speed cooking segments on youtube
Just popped the first one that came up in the results. He got that blender up on the first go! I'm so proud of him.
If its the same one I just rewatched you can see where the "that's no good to me" came from with the gluten bread task
It was and I went on to watch some more. I always fear he's going to slip and crack his head on something.
The one in the campervan was probably my favourite
"That's a safety issue."
I know I might get downvoted, but I couldn't even get through the second episode... does it get better?

Worth the watch for Angella Dravid alone. Genuinely one of my favourite TM contestantsâprobably even my overall favouriteâacross the versions.
S1 isnât great but overall worth getting through. S2 is a WILD ride and highly recommended.
Its hard, but it gets SO MUCH better. Honestly the second episode with them singing the chosen country task won me over
fuck the western world, we're China!!!! literally gets stuck in my head all the time.
I have seen clips of Taskmaster NZ but found I haven't been able to connect with it. Would you recommend a particular series to get in to it?

NZ Season 2 is one of the best series of *any* version of taskmaster, so definitely give that a go.
