DefunctHunk

I'm a huge soundtrack guy and I love the TOTK soundtrack, but I think people aren't really talking about it because (1) it's mostly the same as the BOTW soundtrack with some additional themes added, and (2) Nintendo never bloody release soundtracks on services like Spotify etc. If I could listen to an album on Spotify, I'd listen to it all day every day. It's so peaceful.

reverse_mango

Some bits of the soundtrack are on YouTube, which I may or may not have downloaded and curated into my own albums…

PineapleLul

Check out Mikel on Spotify, he’s got three whole albums of lofi Zelda music, along with some for Pokémon and other Nintendo games. Not 1:1 but he makes each track his own while preserving the underlying themes. Great stuff!

Equivalent-One-6196

I second this! I’ve been listening for months leading up to the release, and every moment I’m not actively playing 😂

-forbiddenkitty-

I listen to BOTW music on YouTube on repeat at work everyday.

ParttimeCretan

I love the unsolved town themes. Before you save them by beating the dungeon. Especially the rito one is bone chilling.

[deleted]

Yep.

ThaDiamondBoi

Yeah isn’t there some theme from a different zelda game in the rito village one? I felt like I recognized it, but couldn’t quite place it

DistortedTriangle6

Wind waker dragon roost island?

cm135

Yup I immediately recognized a chilling freezing version of dragon roost island, which was so perfect for pre dungeon

confusedmortal

That dungeon boss theme is the best soundtrack in the game so far. I love Wind Waker so much

Mattie_Doo

It made me so excited to hear that!

Marauder4711

What is the Rito village? I play in German, so maybe it's a different name.

confusedmortal

Bird people town

Marauder4711

Ah, they are called Orni in German. Thanks

Bluefeather112

Its a reference to ornithologie, but even though in my opinion rito is the better name

Marauder4711

I understand the reference, but thanks.

Bluefeather112

Oh, sure, wasn't implying that you wouldnt. Was a bit unclear there I think. I should have put in a "even though I know..." sorry😅

Professor_ganondorf

I loved how the music crescendoed as you made progress within a temple. Made the end of the temple feel epic. (And then the music dropped right when you got to the end.)

TehDro32

Yeah, that was pretty neat. Now that you mention it, I'll try to pay even more attention in the next temple.

[deleted]

Oh yea.

emo_dog_00

I need it on an album. I don't know how they made a soundtrack better than my favorite one which is Twitter princess. I keep getting banger after banger every where I go

MayDay521

Lol Twitter Princess. The adventure when Zelda tried to go viral and ended up getting a stalker fan that Link has to save her from.

[deleted]

Yep. It is hella fire.

TenaciouslyHappy

The music is fantastic! I especially like the music while sky gliding.

lulnul

great fairy fountain piano track is very vibular

[deleted]

Vibular 💀

i_am_invictus

It’s not limited to the soundtrack, the ENTIRE soundscape is phenomenal.

TheLazyHydra

I feel like overall the soundtrack is really consistently strong, but I’m not sure it has peaks as high as BotW’s soundtrack. Will have to wait for higher quality uploads and some more playthroughs to say for sure, but right now I can’t say anything quite reaches the level of some of my favorite BotW tracks. Still awesome work from the music team, as always.

MayDay521

That's interesting. I honestly feel the opposite. I feel like overall I found the BotW soundtrack mostly disappointing. Still good, but I think I was going in hoping to hear some mind-blowing new themes that would forever be burned into my brain, like the OoT Hyrule Field theme (or basically that entire soundtrack). No doubt what they went with fit the style of BotW way better, and I ended up being able to appreciate it more and more on subsequent playthroughs, but overall I think I'm liking TotK soundtrack more. I like the Shrine music more, I love how each different thing you do has a different tune (even skydiving comes with its own music, and I love to skydive just to listen to it), the theme for >!Master Kohga!< will forever live in my brain, as will the theme for the Gloom Hands. Overall, I'm just having more of those "just stop and listen" moments. I will say BotW had a WAY better Hyrule Castle theme.

NelsonMinar

It is really good; I love the distinct instruments for different regions of the game. I liked [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toEdi_wjTGM) that explains a little of why Nintendo games have such a distinct and good sound.

[deleted]

I absolutely love it. The sky island theme, gliding theme, and the sound cue when you enter chasms are standouts.

One_Atmosphere_8557

I really enjoy the soundtracks for both TotK and BotW, which remain sort of in the background except for peak moments such as cutscenes and boss fights. Maybe that doesn't work for all game types, but it fits the overall vibe for these games perfectly. Everything about the Rito storyline just screams perfection: from the eerie theme when you first enter the town through the buildup as you make your way up into the sky and culminating in an absolutely epic boss battle. There is a sense of grandeur about the whole mission and the soundtrack is a huge part of that. Now if I could just drag myself out of the depths where I am currently obsessed with finding every mine and piece of armor, I might be able to enjoy the rest of the soundtrack 😅

Charissa29

I love all the sounds. In most games I play with the sound off, but I can’t in BOTW or TOTK because so many warnings come from music or the sounds the monsters make. It is brilliant!

No-Sugar2411

Just here to mention the unreal levels of hype in the Gleeok battle music. That is all.

Go-Brit

When I play without headphones I don't notice the music much. When I play with headphones the music blows me away.

Steel_Soul_Jinn

Demon Dragon and Prologue are my favorites.

AlphaBetes97

I get why people like them but it's not really my cup of tea. Botw and totk probably have my least favorite sound track in Zelda. Don't get me wrong I don't dislike the sound track I just don't find it nearly as memorable as other Zelda games

MayDay521

I really wish the game soundtrack was on Spotify. I can't tell you how many times I've been running around the open world and just started thinking how good the music would be to just chill to or even help me sleep! It's so good! Then you have songs like the theme for (Depths Boss) >!Master Kohga!< that's just straight badass!

who_says_poTAHto

I’m obsessed with [song the stable trotters play to the Great Fairies](https://youtu.be/MLbKkAULBb0)! If any one has similar folksy/Celtic-like recommendations, lay ‘em on me!

KeinNiemand

Really liked the final boss music (the one in the final phase)

Multi-tunes

I've said it before, but my favourite musical moment is dropping into the Depths when I hear the flutter tongue flute technique and then the brass when you hit the Depths.

Mattie_Doo

It’s great. The music that plays while you’re climbing up toward the wind temple in Hebra made me stop to listen to it for a while. It’s been a long time since a game did that to me.
