That’s not quite true. It stands for lots of things according to its namer including “internet”, “individual”, and “innovative”. For the iPod specifically it also mean “independent” for a convoluted reason related to a tenuous reference to *2001: A Space Odyssey*
Technically not possible in trademark law, but Apple has gone against the literal fruit before - https://www.wired.com/story/apple-vs-apples-trademark-battle/
> As far as what kind of features to expect, we could see Siri able to control apps more directly. Siri could even summarize an article, edit a photo in a requested way or delete an email, which sounds like quite a time-saver. You'll be able to use the AI to summarize meeting notes, text messages and emails. It'll even be able to create fully fleshed-out responses to emails and text messages, which is a lot more than the canned answers currently available in iMessage.
Sounds underwhelming tbh
Could Siri shuffle my fucking music and bring up the artists and songs correctly like she could back in 2016?
Cause she aint done shit for me in years.
I very much disagree. AI is all over the news these days for the (possible) problems that people see coming. Jobs are threatened. Artists are getting their work stolen. To Joe Schmoe, AI is powerful but scary. Apple does not want to tell its users it's using AI: it would mean it has done all the bad things that others are doing. Apple Intelligence is a step *after* AI: it is controlled, filtered AI, not just AI.
I think myself and the poster above where just referring to Apple's name for their AI specifically.
I'm not commenting on the entirety of AI as a concept or the politics being corny.
With "Apple Intelligence (AI)" You just know every other marketing group is over here saying "we can do that?"
*Microsoft over there calling it Copilot holding their dicks*
It’s somewhat clever. They are able to brand their own version of AI that relates it back to the company. The other AI names have to do with the training methods of the AI which is interesting but to consumers somewhat meaningless.
We’ve had one for years on an iMac four people use regularly. It’s been an ‘inconvenience’ maybe three times for about 3 minutes, and it still works like new with two teenagers hammering it around. It’s a silly complaint. Also a silly design, but still.
Apple did this for the people.
"Sorry boss, can't work for a bit while I charge my mouse"
It is another "compiling..." or "I gotta take a shit" to get the boss off your case.
Good, people would be happy to buy an artificial apple intelligence phone from Apple with internet, individual, instruct, inform and inspire (look it up its real hahah) operating system with artificial intelligence apple intelligence features.
>As far as what kind of features to expect, we could see Siri able to control apps more directly.
This feels huge, imagine Siri being able to voice-control existing apps. Doing pretty much what the Rabbit R1 was sopposed to. Not to mention the possibilities of new apps.
Why not iAI ?
Old macdonald had a iPhone, iAIao
Should've went with iA
They stopped doing ‘i’ a while ago. - Apple Watch - Apple AirPods - Apple HomePod - Apple Vision
So AppleAI then, with a dedicated button on all their keyboard devices
Ffs I’ve just realised we’re getting an ai button on the keyboard as standard from now on
Why does that matter? Its not like it's going to be in the middle of the letters.
How useful is that going to be anyway? It's just a marketing gimmick with no real use case
Just another button that will alt+tab me out of games.
The spirit of the windows key lives on. Thousands of games, millions of MMR/Ladder points ruined
I mean we already had a Siri button for a short bit with the Touch Bar.
MS is doing it too.. ugh
Aye aye aye
Morphin Time!
Google IAI It’s not that Apple can’t compete with the name but it’s bound for trouble
“Insert pirate giph here”
They like to keep things simple. And fascinating. "Apple Intelligence" sounds more useful then generic buzz words "AI" ( AI AI AI AI ....)
iAI, captain!
The “i” stands for internet. When they were marketing things that pulled content from the internet. Doesn’t really make sense for things like AI
Yeah because the 2001 iPod totally had an internet connection...
That’s not quite true. It stands for lots of things according to its namer including “internet”, “individual”, and “innovative”. For the iPod specifically it also mean “independent” for a convoluted reason related to a tenuous reference to *2001: A Space Odyssey*
I prefer PowerAI
Inb4 apple tries to copyright the word ai
Technically not possible in trademark law, but Apple has gone against the literal fruit before - https://www.wired.com/story/apple-vs-apples-trademark-battle/
I'd guarantee they already have.

Yeah too bad they couldn't just make SIRI work properly. They really fucked over the users when it comes to Apple Music and SIRI.
So kind of like most AI products in general that have been released so far.
I have never once wished my phone could, or would, do that.
Pshhh Siri can’t even text in a different language or find an artist in Apple Music that’s international.
Apple was AI before AI came to be. They are Apple Inc after all.
That joke was orchestrated beautifully.
That won't catch on.
It will catch on.
I would have expected them to go with iQ.
Not Apple of Knowledge?
Of course Apple has to come up with a fancy marketing name for everything
I'd say this falls more in the realm of corny than fancy.

Exactly. Too much baggage tied to the word AI
I think myself and the poster above where just referring to Apple's name for their AI specifically. I'm not commenting on the entirety of AI as a concept or the politics being corny.
“I can’t believe Apple is doing something that every company on the planet does” r/technology in a nutshell
With "Apple Intelligence (AI)" You just know every other marketing group is over here saying "we can do that?" *Microsoft over there calling it Copilot holding their dicks*

Thank fuck. I was thinking they’d call it Samsung or android intelligence. NOW I can sleep!
why not iRobot
As long as it actually stays opt in, and not just a windows dressing button.
Meh, I prefer Honeycrisp.
So : *Artificial Intelligence = AI = Apple Intelligence*, then, logically : *Artificial Intelligence = Apple Intelligence*, right ?
Google can pivot to Android Intelligence just as easily.
I guess iI had too many pirate connotations for them
It better be all on device processing or there might be a lot of corporate customers that will demand ways to control it and turn it completely off.
Apple intelligence, like a mouse you can’t use while charging it.
Only Redditors complain about a mouse that has a two month battery life and gets 8 hours of use out of a 2 minute charge
Just revealing they complain about something whilst having 0 experience using it
its not that hard to just charge overnight? the battery life is crazy on it to the point i don’t even remember the last time i had to charge it
We’ve had one for years on an iMac four people use regularly. It’s been an ‘inconvenience’ maybe three times for about 3 minutes, and it still works like new with two teenagers hammering it around. It’s a silly complaint. Also a silly design, but still.
Apple did this for the people. "Sorry boss, can't work for a bit while I charge my mouse" It is another "compiling..." or "I gotta take a shit" to get the boss off your case.
And the fanboys and fangirls will now be called Apple Idiots.
Up vote because that’s funny
Because the first thing you think of when thinking "intelligent" is a piece of fruit, right.
It better be perfect then or this could go very wrong for them.
Good, people would be happy to buy an artificial apple intelligence phone from Apple with internet, individual, instruct, inform and inspire (look it up its real hahah) operating system with artificial intelligence apple intelligence features.

It doesn't cause Google assistant has been doing that for years
They are going to trademark "AI"and so anytime else from using the term. Fucking wankers.
Imagine getting angry about a hypothetical scenario you just made up. Classic Reddit.
Yeah, because Apple have never done anything like that before.
