Novak just wants the gold medal hopefully he plans his season around it. Luckily for him I think he will have the most success on clay this year, especially since Nadal will likely be a non-factor
I can't see him do well on clay, his movement declined and he needs the conditions to be fast to impose himself on the court. For some reason, there's just no pop during the rallies and it will drag him down even more on clay.
In IW's slower conditions, he already couldn't put off the opponents (speaking of Vukic and Nardi here) as he wanted to
Time to start seeing a fanbase grieve in real-time again, just like with Federer, just like with Nadal.
Djokovic isn't done, but he most definitely isn't immortal. I think 2023 will go down as his last truly dominant year, like Fed's 2017.
He's not done yet but I think Novak will be salty for a while until he accepts his decline wholeheartedly.
Idk when that is, this year or next year, but if Federer got pissy when he started to get beaten regularly, Novak is going to be saltier when he realises he hasn't got an iron grip over Tennis anymore.
In his mind he probably wants to be 'gracious' about it, but watching the power you've held over Tennis for over a decade start to slip through your fingers is gonna make him feel bitter for a bit.

Yeah, I felt his behavior on Nardi was very unusual for his standards. It's probably playing out like you said, this loss especially will hurt a lot because there's a big difference between losing to Sinner and losing to a lucky loser out of top 100.
Then again, if anyone can reset himself mentally, it's probably Djokovic.
Unusual? He may operate within the range of normally professional behaviour like mostly every other player .... but he's Salty McSalterson. Petty McPeterson. Quite usual for him (i.e. within the range of behaviour he might demonstrate).
Been a while since I've seen him this salty, not gonna lie. Can't even remember the last time he was scolding someone on the net post-match.
He's been way more gracious and supportive towards the opponents in defeat even in big upsets such as this. So it surprised me a lot.
I had to go to bed after first few games in the 3rd set of Nardi-Djokovic but I felt like it was coming with how many winners Nardi was hitting and holding serves easier.
Novak missed a big opportunity to collect some points whereas the other rivals were defending them. We'll see how it goes in Miami. Certainly won't be getting a draw as generous as this one was with most threats in the other side of the draw
The long awaited Pavvy G tweets following the Novak loss, are surprisingly….not unhinged
Not one mention of the establishment
That might even be a bigger upset than Nardi getting the win
Novak probably beats Nardi any other day than today anywhere, even if he plays at the same (low) level. There are so many top 100 players who turned into top 5 just for one day and then flopped in the very next round. Happens multiple tournaments per year.
Just tuned in for the day and wtf happened?
Djoker losing was def unexpected but also he felt really off so it’s not a total shock. Damn Nardi went balls to the wall and even if he at worst case ends up like Jiri Vesely, he’s gotta be proud of himself!
Monfils winning his match v Norrie and Djoker losing his is… something.
Also Med being the poster child of Winning Ugly for this year so far sheesh, one can only imagine his good form where he steamrolls everyone until the final (which is sorta what happened last year).
Emma Navarro is my new favorite Emma on tour! Self-contained, businesslike, and composed under pressure. Has the spirit of a gunslinger with those ground strokes.
Yeah it’s not like he was intentionally trying to trick Novak. He thought it was out, realized it wasn’t, hit it, and then continued playing, chasing down the drop shot.
If Med continues this never repeat the same title thing currently, he has a good chance at winning IW cause he has never won IW before. Also its best of 3 sets, so if he faces someone like lets say Sinner in a AO final rematch, Med wins cause Sinner doesnt have the 2 set warm up to find his pace
Genuinely impressed at how often he looks like he’s hit a wall mentally or physically but then just wins the damn match anyway.
Makes for a stressful watch so far this year lmao
The top 16 ranked by games dropped so far
1. A. De Minaur - 8
2. J. Sinner - 10
3. S. Tsitsipas - 11
4. T. Fritz / T. Paul - 12
5. G. Dimitrov / C. Alcaraz / H. Rune* - 13
6. C. Ruud - 16
7. A. Zverev - 17
8. F. Marozsan / D. Medvedev - 19
9. J. Lehecka - 21
10. L. Nardi - 25
11. G. Monfils - 28
12. B. Shelton - 31
I never lost faith because I only checked the result after the match finished. All I gotta say is that it was indeed a match 🤣
But for real I hope Med finds some semblance of form because he is not making this year easy on himself.
At this point I shouldn’t be surprised. It’s meddy’s match, anything could happen including tripple DFs and breaks fest with him comes out victorious at the end
I’d be curious to know how many of those 3rd set service games Korda had game point in. Seemed like he was just incapable of getting over the line every time he got to game point.
He had game points in his first three service games and the last one of the third and only held the first time. However, Medvedev also had all the game points/break points for a 5-0 lead in the third so it goes both ways with missed chances.
Korda doing a great job of saving break points, but at the same time he hasn’t been capable of converting game points on serve so it doesn’t even matter. 13 break points saved but I think he’s gotten broken in every game he had to defend a break point regardless.
Yes! Zverev stands no chance against the Demon!
Novak just wants the gold medal hopefully he plans his season around it. Luckily for him I think he will have the most success on clay this year, especially since Nadal will likely be a non-factor

Totally plausible. My only counterpoint would be I don't remember him being like that during his precipitous decline post-FO 2016.
Hm I guess that could be true too. But theres more of an element of finality to here though, especially losing to a Lucky Loser.
I think the finality is more of an age thing than this particular loss. I feel like losing to Istomin in AO 2017 was at least as bad if not worse.
Yeah fair

Just woke up and oh my god 😭
N See you soon by Alcaraz is this? https://www.instagram.com/p/C4aS3OOKarw/?igsh=ZGtia3ZsdTY3OGMz
I go on tennis twitter for ten minutes and it makes r/tennis look like the most rational place in the world
Yeah, Twitter is generally a cesspool of idiocy, and tennis Twitter is particularly bad.
It says a lot that ever since I found the tennis sub on Reddit I have ventured over to tennis Twitter exactly zero times.
How Meddy got broken so many times?
Nardi > Djokovic, Goffin > Nardi, Murray > Goffin, hence no doubt, Andy Murray is better than Djokovic
Looks like a fun doubles match first up in Phoenix tomorrow: Fognini/Kokkinakis v Borges/Vukic
The long awaited Pavvy G tweets following the Novak loss, are surprisingly….not unhinged Not one mention of the establishment That might even be a bigger upset than Nardi getting the win
just woke up.. wth happened to nole?🤯
He hasn't been sighted since his encounter with the mysterious Lord LucaN
Do you think Nardi beats Novak in a best of 5?
Novak probably beats Nardi any other day than today anywhere, even if he plays at the same (low) level. There are so many top 100 players who turned into top 5 just for one day and then flopped in the very next round. Happens multiple tournaments per year.
Do you guys know what Novak was saying to Luca at the net?
Just being his usual salty self and saying "it was wrong (incident), but well done".
Just woke up. The hell happened with Novak?
Medvedev won 12 more points on the return (61) than on serve (49)
Just tuned in for the day and wtf happened? Djoker losing was def unexpected but also he felt really off so it’s not a total shock. Norrie has a Monfils problem 😔
Emma Navarro is my new favorite Emma on tour! Self-contained, businesslike, and composed under pressure. Has the spirit of a gunslinger with those ground strokes.
EMMA
Navarro!!!×××@@!@! That is a gritty win...she was the better player throughout but stumbled in the second. Legendary composure at the finish.
Emma looking in untouchable form, very convincing victory
Absolutely scorched those returns
That was an Iga-esque 2S return
Unbelievable return of that drop shot, Navarro is top shelf
Crucial hold there
Svitolina with like 4 chances to end that point and missed them all. Fantastic by Emma though.
Forever impressed at how quickly Navarro has risen through the rankings over the past few months
Seems like she decided to go pro at a great time in her development.
Emma HOLD THE LINE 🙏
Emma has to break here
i love emma
wow apparently novak said at the net, it wasn't fair but bravo 🤦🏻♂️
He was still dwelling on that?!
Yeah that’s messed up, nardi didn’t do anything wrong. If anything he almost lost that point
Yeah it’s not like he was intentionally trying to trick Novak. He thought it was out, realized it wasn’t, hit it, and then continued playing, chasing down the drop shot.
Only a little surprised to see Gael at Elina's match this late
He's not playing tomorrow, so he must have decided no early bedtime tonight
He's giving a fan a selfie lesson LOL
Sinners gonna eat Shelton alive tomorrow I fear. Hopefully it’s still a fun match
And sinners coach Cahill was scouting at Ben’s match last night, taking notes. Sinner is going to ready for everything tomorrow
Shelton *is* technically the only person to beat PPS… I think he’ll put up a good fight
Novak also beat PPS in Turin...
Med is currently playing awfully though, also he’s not going to be as composed at IW compared to a Grand Slam final lol
Thought the same thing about him at the AO and yet he still made the finals anyway. With Meddy he van be playing not as his best but still win anyway
Genuinely impressed at how often he looks like he’s hit a wall mentally or physically but then just wins the damn match anyway. Makes for a stressful watch so far this year lmao
Navarro cannt capitalize these breaks
So, since I was stuck in the office all day and missed everything except *that*.... what's the match of the day to watch while I eat dinner?
Monfils-Norrie match!
Nardi Djokovic just because it's historic. Also, Nardi redlined all three sets and it's so impressive to watch
2nd set of Musetti-Rune 3rd set of Nardi-Djokovic
Svitolina-Navarro is primo competitive, and on right now.
Not being shown here unfortunately
Monfils won earlier in a crazy fun match
Norrie-Monfils
Nardi-Djokovic, Monflis-Norrie was entertaining in my opinion
The top 16 ranked by games dropped so far 1. A. De Minaur - 8 2. J. Sinner - 10 3. S. Tsitsipas - 11 4. T. Fritz / T. Paul - 12 5. G. Dimitrov / C. Alcaraz / H. Rune* - 13 6. C. Ruud - 16 7. A. De Minaur running thru the draws this year like ‘06 Federer 😭😭
De Minaur is in scary good form at the moment, his matches so far have been genuinely uninteresting to watch they're so one sided
Praying for a onesided match tomorrow lmao
THANK GOD 😭😭😭 Meddy nation rise we never lost faith for a second 🐙🐙
I never lost faith because I only checked the result after the match finished. All I gotta say is that it was indeed a match 🤣 But for real I hope Med finds some semblance of form because he is not making this year easy on himself.
Lmao I couldn't watch third set and I was like watch this go to TB and Meddy DF and Korda wins 😭😭😭
hear hear
Well I did lose some faith at the 3rd consecutive DFs. Should have trusted the tall awkward russian more
I couldn’t watch the third set, just saw the endless breaking in the score so I don’t blame you
At this point I shouldn’t be surprised. It’s meddy’s match, anything could happen including tripple DFs and breaks fest with him comes out victorious at the end
10 DF for Meddy.....
This garbage match had to finish on a garbage point.
63 unforced errors by Korda yikessssssss
Korda wishes he can play Meddy every tournament so that his fan can believe that he is a top 10 material.
Well, damn. I can't be mad about Med winning though.
idk what y'all are saying, that was a fun watch
idk what you were watching
I have no words
what was that nonsense match point
me: finally meddy broke the curse! commentator: and he will face grigor dimitrov in quarterfinals! me: oh man....😭
Korda 63 unforced errors!
We were 6 UEs away from greatness 😭
Can anybody read his lips lmao
I’d be curious to know how many of those 3rd set service games Korda had game point in. Seemed like he was just incapable of getting over the line every time he got to game point.
He had game points in his first three service games and the last one of the third and only held the first time. However, Medvedev also had all the game points/break points for a 5-0 lead in the third so it goes both ways with missed chances.
Korda now 0-10 against top 10 players when he loses the first set.
Does Korda get scared when he has a chance for a winner?
My god Korda looks atrocious out there. What the hell happened to him?
mental midget
What a mess of a match, Medvedev just happy to have this one over
One of the matches I've seen
[удалено]
1
U can say the same about Meddy, they ping ponged who got broken that whole last set
Summary of this match: the low level of Meddy doesn't low enough to lose
Awkward ending
Perfect for the awkward match
Ok meddy finish it here because I do NOT trust you to hold again
[удалено]
Korda please grind your serve until it actually works
Korda is so frustrating to watch
if korda wins this service lol. thank god fritz exists so i can cope theres actually 1 good american
Who is it
Tommy Paul, Taylor Fritz, and young Ben Shelton all deserve their flowers!!! My poor Big Foe does not 😭😭
bold strategy from Meddy by winning his service game, let's see if it pays off for him Cotton
Thank Christ
Okay, now hold Korda’s serve, Meddy
Meddy essentially “serving” for the match right now
this is definitely one of the matches of all time
Finally a hold !!! Or “break” in this reverse match
Korda doing a great job of saving break points, but at the same time he hasn’t been capable of converting game points on serve so it doesn’t even matter. 13 break points saved but I think he’s gotten broken in every game he had to defend a break point regardless.
He’s faced BPs in 11 service games and managed to hold 3 times so far out of those 11.
Just got home from work and switched on the tennis... what in the world is going on here?
They've both forgotten how to serve...until this game
Turn it off and go back to work 💀
A Meddy break here could be decisive, Korda with a chance to keep it on serve
Lol I see what you did there
Return games are the new service games
I genuinely don't have a word for how pathetic korda's service is. What itf player does he think he's beating like this.
Keep crying
remember when the players voted that Meddy could not miss a backhand for an hour straight...evidence right there (but the serve is gone rip)
Meddy holds once pls, we have enough sh\*t for the whole match, you can lose all your serve in next round
Daniil hold forever pls 🥺🥺 need a miracle
Meddy chewing angrily looks funnier than it should
8/21 bp for med???????????? what is this match???
Norrie was 3/21
bro💀
8/21 is kinda misleading though. He’s broken in essentially every game he’s had a break point in. Just has taken multiple attempts
Yeah very similar to the Yuan Dolehide match with the BP conversions. Medvedev has had BPs in 11 return games and has broken 8 times.
This has got to be up there lol for most breaks of serve in a best of 3 men’s match.
what is this match
Holding serve? We don’t do that here.
it's usually easier if you win your service games, guys
What is going on here?! Haha wild match
Meddy just wants to play PlayStation bro
honestly i'm just considering this on serve lol
At this rate, it is
5 breaks in a row!! This is ridiculous Just HOLD please Medvedev!
Cant hit a 1st for his life but hits a banging pass like that. Oh meddy
Now how is the camera person in the way?! They are doing their job on sidelines. Come on Daniil! He's letting small things get to him
I think that’s actually where he derives most of his powers from
Remember when Korda said he was one of the favorites at Wimbledon
This is a parking lot match 😭
If Korda loses this one he’ll definitely be drilling a lot of volleying and net play in the near future
Oh lord Sebi
LMAO him telling the camera man to back away Of all the assholes on tour I like Meddys brand of asshole the best
korda’s volleys are really letting him down. he needs to hold here
tho vollets are horrid
Korda is reliving his match against Khachanov at Wimbledon 2021 by the looks of it
Breaks will now be referred to as holds, and holds will be referred to as breaks. April 1st came early and it’s a treat at 1 am
Med is washed
Right now they are playing a different sport called sinnet where serving gives you a disadvantage
Medvedev is unbelievable
Svitolina gets the second set! Impressive because Navarro had been looking real good.
Oh how I miss Meddy's good serving days....
this is some dog shit tennis im watching right now
This match sucks butt
Jeez this match is tense
Here we go with Med antics
Last time I saw this type of match, it was fognini vs Alcaraz in Rio last year, no one wants to win
It’s like Coco vs Kostuyk at AO (and a lot of juniors matches I’ve watched 😬) but not so common on ATP level lol
These guys can't hold to save their fking life
Lol Meddy getting mad at the camera man
This must be the weirdest match I have ever seen
I can’t watch rn what the fuck is Meddy doing
I have a feeling he will win once he can hold his serve
From your mouth to God’s ears 🙏🙏🙏
four breaks in a row, christ almighty.
