What the hell was that from Tsitsipas?
I have never seen him play that bad for a set and a half before putting some resistance finally in the end.
And I mean never, which says something.
Agreed, heās become so erratic over the last few months. The fight is there but heās spraying so many balls on big points. He looks a bit distracted on the court and I wonder if needs a calming influence in his box, thatās not his dad!
Galan US Open 2022 still takes the cake for me. First round, pretty neutral hard court that he should like, he's coming off a Cincinnati final where he beat Medvedev in the SF, and Tsitsipas loses the first two sets 0-6 1-6, losing the match in 4. Honestly mindboggling
I didnāt watch this match, but itās hard to conceive of him playing worse than when he almost got double bageled by Galan in the first round of the US Open
100%. He seemed defeated after the second break in the first set, letting balls etc
Iām sure there is some mental issue / not enough drive, deflated from repeated losses. Maybe a physical issue too - back pain perhaps and maybe the reason he changed the serving stance.
Also hard to see what he can be motivated for anymore. Heās almost earned $30M - 14th in ATP history! - and knows he likely missed his chances for a slam. It takes very special people to remain hungry after youāve achieved so much and can prob live the rest of your life quite comfortably. I can see him playing for the money for 2-3 more years and then calling it quits. Good for him - heās one of the very few that reached those levels.
I donāt know. I have seen him play around this level a number of times recently. His backhand is just too exposed right now and heās not able to keep up with players that can exploit it.
I honestly have tried to watch his last 3 matches and changed over to a different one because his so bad right now. I've started watching tennis a lot now after a break since 2019 and it's like watching a totally different player. Seems to have lost a lot of confidence and making so many errors. Saw him totally dissociate when his dad was talking to him before he went on court in acapulco. Idk if a coaching change might help.
And his last 3 matches are not even that bad, compared to this last one at least, but yeah.
If you show someone two matches one form 2019 or 2021 and one from now, he is a completely different player and not in a good way. Serve has gotten worse, backhand was actually usable back then, the speed is almost gone and even his strongest weapon, his forehand has been absent this year so far.
Even last year, which was his worst year at tour, till this one (so far), he at least had his monstrous forehand.
Legit do not know what to think anymore.
Tennis Insights just published a graph of his shot quality and all shots were down but return and backhand mustāve been shocking, scoring 5.5 and 5.8 respectively. His 52 week average was 6.8 and 7.3.
Lehecka's forehand has been so good this tournament. When you're confident in being able to go forehand to forehand vs Stef, it opens up the court because Stef can no longer lean ad-side and look for run-around forehands. It makes it so much easier to find the Tsitsipas backhand.
Donāt sleep on Lehecka. The guy is playing some phenomenal tennis at the moment and his confidence is growing. Reminds of Berdych in his demeanour and temperament- I wouldnāt be surprised if he starts giant-killing soon.
Yeah, hopefully without BerdychĀ“s nerves. He was a great player when he was at his peak but he was notoriously nervous which did not help him. He was also unlucky that the "top 3" were at \*their\* peak when he was playing.
Having said that, Berdych took out Federer and Djokovic in several slams (circa 2010-2012) but then ended up running into Rafa! Federer in particular had trouble with Berdych before his 2nd peak in 2017.
Yeah, I think he was that kind of player who could beat a top player when he had a great day but not "keep doing it", just for the reason that his self-esteem was not the highest at some points. Also, having Czech "fans" is not easy...if you are too self-confident and fail, they let you know very loudly and if you are not enough and say "I will try my best", then you just spending tax payers money (no, not many people know how tennis works and that it has nothing to do with "tax payers" money).
I used to have a colleague at work, her husband was a sport journalist and he said that Berdych was sometimes getting so nervous that he ...well, couldnĀ“t keep anything in his stomach before the match. (FYI, it was after Berdych retired so I donĀ“t think he would share this information if he thought it would damage his carreer in any way)
We saw him beat Rublev the other day. Man of steel and quads built by the gods. Very impressed with how level headed he was and it was a huge contrast to Rublevās temperament. We were really impressed. Excited to see how far he goes!
Stef has been in this weird place since last years AO. Not unable to win a few main draw matches at least so not just falling apart and losing first or second round but losing to lots of players heād usually beat and not seeming to put up a whole lot of a fight in these matches and seems resigned to just being a top 20 player now after a few years in top 6 or so.
People talking about Tsitsipas's low level, but outside of the obvious Alcaraz/Sinner, Lehecka has been the most impressive to me.Ā
I'm at the tournament, so not been able to multiscreen and watch every match, but seen a lot of them, and his level vs Rublev was insane. Rublev usually gets frustrated at his own play, but that match his complaining was about how ridiculous Jiri's level was.
Been a problem for some time, but Tsitsi really needs to figure his backhand out if he wants to get back to the top.
His slice is atrocious for someone with a one hander and he shanks way too much of that wing.
At this point my Sunday tickets are gonna be for Lehecka vs Nardi š
Sounds like a blockbuster mnatch to me
š¤£
I got Sinner vs ADM final in Toronto 23. So Lehecka Wimbledon champion confirmed ā
Being a 1000 master final, itās totally worth it. Anyway this wasnāt a big upset, Stef is super inconsistent in the last period
Thatās a 250 final lineup tho
My first time going to a professional tennis match ever will be this Sunday at IW
It will be my first time too! Hopefully we get good matches. Enjoy!
You two should meet and maybe have a romance?
Why? You thought stef would win this? The way jiri playing rn I figured he's destroy stef
Tsitsipas losing to Lehecka is hardly even an upset. I would've put it at 50/50 before the match started.
What the hell was that from Tsitsipas? I have never seen him play that bad for a set and a half before putting some resistance finally in the end. And I mean never, which says something.

He legit was never this bad though. It was like he could hardly play today.

Watched them almost all, legit think this was the worst one yet.
Badosa has been bad for his game.
I didnāt watch this match, but itās hard to conceive of him playing worse than when he almost got double bageled by Galan in the first round of the US Open
Did he take melatonin again? š¤·
I forgot about that one. Hilarious!
He did the same in the Australian open against Fritz. With the same weird over exuberant celebrations towards the end of the match.
100%. He seemed defeated after the second break in the first set, letting balls etc Iām sure there is some mental issue / not enough drive, deflated from repeated losses. Maybe a physical issue too - back pain perhaps and maybe the reason he changed the serving stance. Also hard to see what he can be motivated for anymore. worst match of his career level-wise along with the Galan one. Maybe even worse. Zero intensity til 1-3 in the second set.
I donāt know. I have seen him play around this level a number of times recently. His backhand is just too exposed right now and heās not able to keep up with players that can exploit it.

There are definitely ten men in the world better at tennis than Stef right now
That's generousĀ
Thanks for the round about way of saying his rank is 11th :)
How many of them are 4.0 players?
Stef looked like shadow of himself like zero emotions most of the time.

lads, it's tsitsipas.
Hey now, Tottenham are in 5th not 11th like Stefanos
r/soccer leaking
Happy cake day
Friendship ended with novak now lehecka is my best friend
I love the flair
My brother Jiri is COOKING
Saw him play against Rublev on Sunday. Dude is legit!

Top-20 soon
not only at the moment, since he entered into tennis radar - has always been a dangerous opponent.
Tsitsipassed

stef must have taken the melatonin again because wtf
Zverev + Tsitsipasās forehand Tsitsipas + Zverevās backhand -Both would have multiple Slams
That BH of Stef is abysmal to say the least
Get rid of your dad, bro. Maybe hire your gf.
Tsitsipas's biggest win this year is against Tiafoe at IW.
Let's be honest here. The biggest win for him this past year is Badosa.
Sadly, thatās as close as he can come to winning Indian WellsĀ
People talking about Tsitsipas's low level, but outside of the obvious Alcaraz/Sinner, Lehecka has been the most impressive to me.Ā I'm at the tournament, so not been able to multiscreen and watch every match, but seen a lot of them, and his level vs Rublev was insane. Lehecka with another big win. Stef is playing poorly overall. Maybe clay will be kinder to him.
Been a problem for some time, but Tsitsi really needs to figure his backhand out if he wants to get back to the top. His slice is atrocious for someone with a one hander and he shanks way too much of that wing.
Stefanos my beautiful goofball of a golden retriever of a man I just want you to win some big matches. Good stuff from Lehecka for sure though.
Tsisipas and Sakkari Mr and Mrs Disappointmentā¦
I will go with all respect to LeheÄka. What a striking and calm performance! Go JiÅĆ!
I'm traveling from jersey to see the final. I'll my mind if I get a 250 type final
Iām watching the replay on TC now but Lehecka is absolutely jacked now I need the protein routine lol.
Itās almost hilarious how bad Stefās backhand is
It's Stephanover
He played like Novak?
Damn! I had money on the greek! He's bamboozled me for the last time.
I reckon his gf has been a distraction and he needs another coach asap!
As I said in the live thread, this is basically how I would expect a prime Berdych vs prime Tsitsipas match to look like.
This was not prime Tsitsipas xd. This was worst Tsitsipas possible
lol got downvoted when i said jiri will win against stef.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Tsitsipas is a tier above Fritz overall, not right now though.
At the moment he is but a few years ago he was consistently making deep runs in masters 1000s and slams and could have legitimately won a slam
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I imagine heāll tell dad to smd if he tries suggesting getting rid of her. But yes agree. Ever since she came along heās gone v v bad
Tsitsimps on su*cide watch
