I think this is one of Fritz's best ever matches
Winners to UE ratio of 3:1 (69 winners to 23 UEs!!!). Faced a Zverev who was serving 75% first serves in and 80% first serves won.
Fritz has gotten a lot better at Slams in the last year
He's had 2 big wins now(defending finalist Tsitsipas at the AO and against Zverev here) which he definitely wouldn't have closed out in the past
Yeah when he went down 0-30 in the game after his break I had some pretty scary Fritz Flashbacks (Fritzbacks?). Maybe we can rebrand “on the Fritz” as a good thing?
It could've been the knee. He was hardly running to some of those drop shots.
I've been kinda grumpy with the grass this year. I don't think I've ever seen so many injuries from slipping on the surface.
This is the first time I've ever thought this, but I found myself thinking "maybe it's a good thing that grass season is only one month - perhaps it's not a viable surface for pro tennis anymore". The game is too quick now.
That's not fair imo, especially in the first set Zverev played very smart and very good at the net. He then slowly got worse and didn't move as well whilst Fritz kept his level and even raised it a bit in certain moments.
Daniil in Melbourne...
Carlitos in Paris...
Fritz in London...
...I wonder who'll be the next guy he chokes (heh) a 2-set lead to when he goes to New York...
I would love for Thiem to play the US Open 1st round against Zverev and beat him by coming back from 2 sets down and get routined in the 2nd round like the usual
Fritz is actually one of the ONLY ATP players to ever give non-dismissive remarks about the enormity of Zverev’s DV trial/allegations, so in my eyes I started liking Taylor a lot more after that
> "I think they're going to leave negative things out about everybody. Obviously I understand the public reaction to that. I think you could probably touch on the story aspect of his injury, return, all that and also touch on everything else that's going on with that,
> I didn't watch the episode. I think as far as the whole injury at the French Open, him coming back, I do think there's a story there, regardless of what's going on off the court. Him coming back, he had a great year last year.
> If you are going to make an episode about him, then I definitely understand why people want that to be, at the very least, I guess included in the episode or touched on.”
This was in an interview about Netflix’s Break Point where they depicted Zverev without flaws and Medvedev as his villain. It’s honestly not much but does give respect and pause to the very serious allegations, and it was better than how 99% of other ATP players dismissed them or even defended Zverev
Unlike others, he acknowledged that Break Point/Netflix wouldn’t mention anything about Zverev’s personal issues even though that was really the hot topic about him
he hasn't said much, but when season 2 of break point came out, a journalist asked him about Zverev and he said it probably wasn't a great idea to have someone accused of DV being promoted so openly
EDIT: I'm misremembering - this is more what Iga said. Fritz's comments are capture more accurately by 3axel3loop's post
Fritz vs Musetti is gonna be a really good match, I feel, ripe for storylines.
Taylor is the man to beat, leading their h2h by a set, and having won their last Wimbledon confrontation in 2022,but at the same time, Musetti is also on the tourney of his life, and won their last showdown, plus Fritz is coming from a pretty tiring 5 setter
Looking forward to it!
third time its ever happened (other two against thiem at USO 2020 and against medvedev at AO this year). hes also completed 3 comebacks from 2 sets down.
Two years ago someone on here said Fritz looks like a "discount Cary Grant" and that still cracks me up to this day 😭
EDIT: [Found it](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/vsklw6/comment/if3bmpz/)
You have to respect fritz for how far he has come. A few years ago he was getting dissed for being a scrub. But the guy hired a great coach and worked his ass off to improve his weakness like backhand and movement. I wish FAA would learn from him instead of showing loyalty to his crappy coach.
This feels like a transformative win even though he was up against a known choker. I think Fritz finally had the right combo of actually wanting it and also putting up the numbers. In the past I think the former has affected the latter and now he has a really good win to look back on.
So happy for Fritz. He's been playing well all season, improving in a lot of areas, but hasn't had a big top 10 win like this. This was huge for him, especially coming back from two sets down. He's one of the hardest working players so I'm thrilled that he got a win like this.
First slam semi is very possible for him right now.
I legit think this is the best Fritz has ever played. Zverev obviously didn't have great movement, but Fritz's grit on important points is what got him the win today.
More content for Morgan’s vlog, Taylor makes another slam QF, and that horrible man is denied another slam (and after being up 2 sets 😭). I love good news!!!!
I'll let you know when I pay off my debts to the sketchy guy who lent me the Chipotle money and just came into my office with brass knuckles on for some reason
2 sets up against Meddy AO SF
2 sets to 1 up against Carlos RG F
2 sets up against Fritz Wimby L16
I've never seen such a consistent bottlejob, and I'm a Spurs fan
From sitting and moping on a livestream about his second round exit last year to actually almost making it to a SF,,,Fritz has actually grown as a player,,,usually goes under the radar,,,but this is actually really good progress,,,kinda nice to watch
I fell asleep halfway through the second set and woke up to Fritz doing post match interviews and I aint even mad
Taylor I want you to know that I BELIEVED AND YOU DELIVERED
Never thought Fritz is an incredible player by the looks of it or even his game isn't that impressive or outlandish,,,but he's easily the most handworking top player and an unproblamatic king that you can't help but cheer for him + his girlfriend is really cool
Fritz and De Minuar have impressed me the most this year. Relatively consistent on all surfaces. Not surprised they're now knocking on the semi-final door. The rest of the year should be interesting for the Top 10.
Zverev seriously has no backup plan in these matches. He just was hoping his form from the first two sets would come back while simultaneously giving Fritz more to dictate points by standing back on the baseline. Very brainless tennis from him
We don't have to exaggerate stuff, Fritz played consistently at a high level all 5 sets and Zverev's knee clearly got worse as the match went on, by the end his movement was too poor and he lost any advantage he had in rallies, that's it, in a really close match (first 2 sets) once one of them loses a bit of margin it's over and in this case it was Zverev who lost margin in the movement. Fritz serving was too good in the end to break him without getting those extra shots back and back again to force a mistake.
Fritz has well and truly leveled up his game this year. Better variety, better serving, and most importantly he truly backs himself every match now. As a fan it's been remarkable to see!
What a match by fritz
Even the sets he lost he was playing superb and the fact that he not only managed to keep his level steady but also elevate in crucial points, a whole different Fritz is rising
He has the weapons to reach the semis but I think Novak would be so happy to have fritz in a semifinal lol
I wonder if Zverev will complete the calendar year grand slam of 5 setters lost while having the lead at the US Open. He has done it before at that event.
Felt like the live thread was dogging on the quality of the match but I actually thought both played relatively well. Really nice signature win for Fritz to make it to his second Slam QF this year.
Go Taylor!
Probably one of his best GS wins. Yeah Zverev's knee wasn't great but to come back from 2 sets down with great play and clutch points shows how far Taylor has come when he lost 2nd round last year.
Got a great chance to reach his first GS SF against Musetti.
I think this is one of Fritz's best ever matches Winners to UE ratio of 3:1 (69 winners to 23 UEs!!!). Faced a Zverev who was serving 75% first serves in and 80% first serves won.

Yeah when he went down 0-30 in the game after his break I had some pretty scary Fritz Flashbacks (Fritzbacks?). Maybe we can rebrand “on the Fritz” as a good thing?
That's an expression I don't hear much anymore, bravo.
Absolutely, Fritz's mental toughness has significantly improved. He’s becoming a real threat!
That’s a crazy ratio wow
2:1 means you had a blast out there. This man just went 3:1!! I hope this doesn't go unnoticed.
It's probably 2:1 with conventional counting , Wimbledon always been generous, still ridiculously good
Zverev had nothing outside the first serve imo. He was doing barely anything after the first set. Movement got increasingly worse
It showed in the stats too. Zverev was under 50% win rate on second serves while Fritz was iirc around 80%
Yeah both served really well but Zverev was way more reliant on his serve Fritz held easily even in games where he didn't get his 1st serve in
It could've been the knee.
He played so good
The only reason this match went to 5 sets is because of great serving from Z. Fritz has been top notch since the beginning of the match.
That's not fair imo, especially in the first set Zverev played very smart and very good at the net. He then slowly got worse and didn't move as well whilst Fritz kept his level and even raised it a bit in certain moments.
Was definitely a pleasure to watch the ball striking. Not many better at pure ball striking than Fritz when he's on.
He was amazing to watch!
Fritz and Paul in QF = U.S. fans feasting rn
I’m shooting my 9mm in the air in agreement.
Stop that.
All nine of us are pumped
There are dozens of us! DOZENS

WHAT THE FUCK IS A KILOMETER?!!
NEVER HEARD OF HER
Replying just to confirm
vintage zverev
You could feel it in your stones after that double fault in the third set.
Daniil in Melbourne... Carlitos in Paris... Fritz in London... ...I wonder who'll be the next guy he chokes (heh) a 2-set lead to when he goes to New York...
Add Thiem in NY
I would love for Thiem to play the US Open 1st round against Zverev and beat him by coming back from 2 sets down and get routined in the 2nd round like the usual
Lol would be hilarious. miss Thiem tho 🥲
The guy just loves choking. Women, matches, you name it!
r/tennis’s 12/25 comes early.
What a long handshake at the end too. We love talking about handshakes
That’s not right, but bravo
[удалено]
It's even more satisfying because Zverev gave his fans false hope.
The only thing sweeter than a DVerev loss is a DVerev loss from 2 sets up. 🤣❤️
The choker has fans?
One thing this sub has taught me is that even the lowest of the low are someone's absolute GOAT. Oh yes, these people have diehard fans.
You should see NFL and NBA fans, they treat wife beaters and rapists like heroes.
The same fuckers who probably support Andrew Tate. They ar absolute scum
Other chokers
I'll never forget you for your hot takes on r/soccer. Thanks for all the laughs.
Fritz to Zverev: “Have a nice flight home. You know what you did.”

Haha Morgan posted a reel saying he won one for the girls
not a reel but two stories! “cheer loud ladies” “when ur man wins 4 the girls” ok I have no choice but to stan now 😌
https://i.imgur.com/zCTQmXp.mp4
Is he saying “fuck that guy”?
yeah but it's from his match against Rinderknech
holy shit i hadn't seen this
This is not from today, it was on the match against Rinderknech
r/tennis's new golden boy
I’m old enough to remember Taylor Foot being one of the most clowned players on r/tennis.
T Foote get it right
I’m a simple man. Somebody knocks Zverev out of a slam, they’re my new favorite player for the next week or so.
Exactly my approach as well
Zverev: choking at work and at home
it is bad karma, choke someone once and the curse of choking will be summoned upon you
Fritz vs Musetti is gonna be a really good match, I feel, ripe for storylines. Musetti taking out djokovic would a hell of a headline
Taylor, I'm sorry for calling you "fucking useless" after the second set. You're fucking useful, king.
Most honest r/tennis user
my jaw dropped reading this comment because I literally said the EXACT same thing after the second set thats insane 😭
Pessimistic minds think alike!
AZ and losing from two sets up. Name a more iconic duo
Honestly, that rarely happens too, most of the time it’s the other way around where he ends up making a comeback 😂 It’s all the more satisfying
third time its ever happened (other two against thiem at USO 2020 and against medvedev at AO this year). hes also completed 3 comebacks from 2 sets down.
AZ and domestic abuse
Two years ago someone on here said Fritz looks like a "discount Cary Grant" and that still cracks me up to this day 😭 EDIT: [Found it](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/vsklw6/comment/if3bmpz/)
To me he's always gonna be Dylan from Modern Family.
Ha! I see that
Fritz always looked like Seth Macfarlane to me
😆😄 I concurred with this...til now. Huge backpat on his win here.
"I don't need Fritz to win... I just need Zverev to lose" - General Hux upon securing tickets to Centre Court
"I'm the spy" - Juan Carlos Ferrero after defecting to coach Alcaraz
You have to respect fritz for how far he has come. A few years ago he was getting dissed for being a scrub. But the guy hired a great coach and worked his ass off to improve his weakness like backhand and movement. I wish FAA would learn from him instead of showing loyalty to his crappy coach.
FAA is too talented to waste anymore time with his current coach.
This feels like a transformative win even though he was up against a known choker. I think Fritz finally had the right combo of actually wanting it and also putting up the numbers. In the past I think the former has affected the latter and now he has a really good win to look back on.
Fritz has always had a great backhand though. That's kinda what made him an intriguing American player.
That and chipotle. That man is fueled by the fire of chipotle.
the strongest argument for slams to stay as BO5 is denying zverev one
THINGS YOU LOVE TO SEE:
So happy for Fritz. He's been playing well all season, improving in a lot of areas, but hasn't had a big top 10 win like this. This was huge for him, especially coming back from two sets down. /r/tennis ❤️ Fritz
Always had faith that Moragn's bf would be able to get the job done here
Never give up 👑👑
what did they talk about at the net?
Car warranty extension
"Fiat called me about a car warranty extension Taylor. What do you think I should do? What would you do? Do you have time to go over this right now?"
“Have a nice flight home.”
Zverev probably whinging about his knee
He literally did, too lmao. Zverev is such a sore loser. Fritz basically said that.
You can read him like a book
"I got better parental responsibilities than you. Have a nice flight home."
[удалено]
Have the flight you deserve
I legit think this is the best Fritz has ever played. Zverev obviously didn't have great movement, but Fritz's grit on important points is what got him the win today.
More content for Morgan’s vlog, Taylor makes another slam QF, and that horrible man is denied another slam (and after being up 2 sets 😭). I love good news!!!!
hahaaaaaa my thoughts exactly!!!
😭Happy tears…Humanity is saved again…
And by Fritz too. Least expected.
Zverev’s knee just got worse and worse And Fritz just got better and better
Palms sweaty Knees weak Arms heavy
What do we think they were talking about at the end of the match?
Likely about Zverev’s knee
In the post match interview Taylor said it was about Zverev's knee injury
I came here hoping someone would know
Probably asking for free Chipotle
Me too, I got a steak bowl with guac yesterday and it cost me a month's salary
Look at Mr. Moneybags over here buying Chipotle. How's the high life, king?
I'll let you know when I pay off my debts to the sketchy guy who lent me the Chipotle money and just came into my office with brass knuckles on for some reason
"I see Chipotle is sponsoring you now Taylor. Can you get me a deal on meals there? I love their carnitas"
About his knee. Such loss of touch
Zverev's knee
Coming back from two sets down to knock out DV is legendary. Way to go, Fritz!
It’s funny bc DV could either be Doublefaulterev or Domestic Violence lmao
EVERYBODY GET IN HERE
taylor when being the american #1 is on the line: HOLD MY CHIPOTLE
Absolutely loving Morgan’s IG story. Sipping a drink with the caption “when your man wins for the girls🙏🏻💅🏻💗”
Fritz, you madlad. You got a fan in me after this particular experience.
Today is a good day.
[Everyone in this thread.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F2AKNTgXgAA_JUn.jpg)
Fritz now has the double for Zverev brother 2 sets down comeback in majors
Never would I have thought that getting reverse swept by Taylor fritz is what Kevin Anderson has in common with Mischa and Sascha Zverev
2 sets up against Meddy AO SF 2 sets to 1 up against Carlos RG F 2 sets up against Fritz Wimby L16 I've never seen such a consistent bottlejob, and I'm a Spurs fan
Plus the biggest bottle of them all when he lost to one-legged Thiem in the USO final.
Career grand choke
So he's completed the Lose From 2 Sets Up Grand Slam. LOAT 🤣
Murica looking good
From sitting and moping on a livestream about his second round exit last year to actually almost making it to a SF,,,Fritz has actually grown as a player,,,usually goes under the radar,,,but this is actually really good progress,,,kinda nice to watch
THE MAD LAD ACTUALLY DID IT
What was that conversation at net all about?
Zverev's knee, per Fritz in the postmatch interview.
I fell asleep halfway through the second set and woke up to Fritz doing post match interviews and I aint even mad Taylor I want you to know that I BELIEVED AND YOU DELIVERED
Bye, bye Zverev!!! Good riddance!
Zverev now only needs Roland Garros to complete the Grand Slam of blowing 2-0 leads!
Well, Fritz put himself in there I guess ...
the hero of r/tennis.
Good day to be a zverev hater , he always delivers
Never thought Fritz is an incredible player by the looks of it or even his game isn't that impressive or outlandish,,,but he's easily the most handworking top player and an unproblamatic king that you can't help but cheer for him + his girlfriend is really cool

Fellow Germans, let's celebrate. 🥳
good people around the world rejoice.
USA USA USA 🇺🇸
New Taylor Fritz signature win just dropped, it’s been awhile!
INJECT THIS STRAIGHT INTO MY VEINS
I love when Zverev loses.
That was phenomenal. What a comeback from Fritz. Happy to send Zverev packing
any day zverev loses is a good day
Fritz has well and truly leveled up his game this year. Better variety, better serving, and most importantly he truly backs himself every match now. As a fan it's been remarkable to see!
chipotle sales skyrocketing!!!
Tears in my eyes HE DID IT 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What a match by fritz Even the sets he lost he was playing superb and the fact that he not only managed to keep his level steady but also elevate in crucial points, a whole different Fritz is rising He has the weapons to reach the semis but I think Novak would be so happy to have fritz in a semifinal lol
CHIPOTLE FOR EVERYONE GET IN HERE
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOO
“Enjoy the flight home,” - Fritz to Zverev, I hope.
This could finally be Fritz’s moment. Idk if he’s ever been this mentally strong
I went and had lunch and took a long nap and woke up and they were still playing. Glad Fritz won!!
Hahahahaq get fucked you abusive loser
Have a nice flight home 🛫🇩🇪
did not think fritz would come back helps that zverev is a loser in every sense of the word, though.
I wonder if Zverev will complete the calendar year grand slam of 5 setters lost while having the lead at the US Open. He has done it before at that event.
This is the most quickly upvoted thread I've ever seen on this sub
Fritz good.
Felt like the live thread was dogging on the quality of the match but I actually thought both played relatively well. Really nice signature win for Fritz to make it to his second Slam QF this year.
I was watching the score live on my phone while at work and silently freaking out. So proud of Taylor!!!
HELL YEAH BABY!!
Fuck yeah, Fritz played so damn well
Taylor Fucking Fritz, you are the man!!!!
What a Boss.
Amazing on atmosphere on Centre. Taylor’s sent the wifebeater back home on a plane!
Go Taylor! Probably one of his best GS wins. Yeah Zverev's knee wasn't great but to come back from 2 sets down with great play and clutch points shows how far Taylor has come when he lost 2nd round last year. Got a great chance to reach his first GS SF against Musetti.
Slaylor
Great win for Taylor in a slam. Becoming more gritty and clutch. Appears to be starting to peak which bodes well for a slam run.
Vintage woman beater choke. (the good kind)
