CevJuan238

Idiot

Parking_Train8423

no shit. those things are easier to remove than changing a tire

SpaceChatter

Care to elaborate in case I ever need to?

ScoobertDoubert

You call the number written on it and pay the man to remove it.

Sleightly_Awkward

Man, capitalism is wild. Imagine getting paid to inconvenience people.

Caked101

If people are parked in front of fire hydrants or places where fire trucks need access to a building I can understand why. Other than that, I can't stand tow companies.

blahblacksheep869

Wait, if they're parked in front of a fire hydrant, wouldn't this make them stay parked in front of a fire hydrant longer?

Sleightly_Awkward

Nah totally agreed. I get the need for the existence of stuff like this, it just sucks knowing that it getting abused for profit seems inevitable in our society.

Potatoman1980

Then why don't the hydrants face away from the road, would be easy enough

[deleted]

[удалено]

Potatoman1980

Hey man, I'm british, i don't see hydrants, I've often wondered why they smash windows on cars and that to conect to it, when they could connect 180 degrees to the other side

Caked101

Yep. There are people who also get paid to pass out eviction notices. I once saw a man doing this job only to put one on the wrong apartment. He looked deviously satisfied while doing it. There's a word called "schadenfreude". I believe there's no English word for this term. Its origin is German and it means somebody who derives pleasure from The misfortune of others. These jobs are perfect for these kinds of people.

8oyw0nder

like a sadist?

Caked101

Those seem like two different ball parks. schadenfreude is more of the feeling of pleasure from observation of misfortune, while being sadistic is pleasure from *physical* pain, humiliation, and suffering. [This explains it better](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schadenfreude#:~:text=Sadism%20gives%20pleasure%20through%20the,other%20somehow%20deserved%20the%20misfortune.)

sacking03

No, he is just Xtreme.

Demonic_Storm

Xtremely stupid

TinfoilTetrahedron

Just like Homer Simpson.

CameronCrazy1984

The best Simpsons that will never be on tv again. Crying in my crab juice

TinfoilTetrahedron

What????  Why??

death_to_the_ego

I assume the prominent featuring of the twin towers but not entirely sure; Wikipedia suggests it was temporarily removed from syndication after 9/11 but returned in 2006

C-Hyena

First thing I thought.

123456789ledood

I never watched the Simpsons through before, so I started binjing it and this was the last episode I'm on. So I guess sorry driver, but the Simpsons already did it.

Doobiedoobin

That damage has got to be more than the ticket, doesn’t it?

dajokesta

Bro just caused 1k worth of damage to his car, plus the cost of the boots he broke, just to skip out on a $75 ticket. The stupidity of the masses never fails to amuse me.

Bonzie_57

lol “1k” damage He’ll hope is only 1k

Mercerskye

Yeah, it's probably 1k just to replace whatever the hell he broke off and threw into the air. Dude's lucky that didn't hit somebody.

COYBIG79

That was a mudflap.

Doobiedoobin

lol that was my take too! Like, bro it happens to the best of us. Pay it and move on. I would assume there’s a ticket associated with the destruction of the property now?

dajokesta

Its more than a ticket. Although it varies by jurisdiction, in many states it is a crime to forcibly remove a boot. On top of the criminal sanctions, the booting company also has a private right of action for destruction of property.

Doobiedoobin

So potentially jail time? One decision can change a life.

dajokesta

Depends on many things. Is this your first offense? Do you have a good lawyer? What charges are you facing? For example, in GA youll face the following charges for illegally removing a boot: 1 ct Criminal Trespass 1 ct Theft of Services 1 ct Theft by Taking 1 ct Damage to Property 2nd Degree Btw, nothing ive said here or in any previous messages is legal advice. If you have any questions about the law, or your own legal liability, please seek a lawyer that specializes in these matters.

Doobiedoobin

lol *puts car back into park quietly* lol

Aggravating-Hair7931

Perhaps it's not his car.

GetOffMyGrassBrats

It has a business name and phone number on the side, so yea, probably not his. This guy was thinking "Boss is gonna kill me if he finds out I got his truck booted at the Dunkin when I was supposed to be on a job!" Somebody should call the number on the side of the truck and ask about it.

stavis23

When I got a boot on my car taken off it costed around $450, just sayin

HelloAttila

$1k? New tires, rotors, breaks, calipers, possibly break lines, underbody damage, alignment, rims, body damage… that could end up easily several thousand bucks.

naikrovek

How many working days does it take to get them removed if you pay the fine? 7-10? I would have cut it off if I needed my car right away. No chance that I would wait for them to pull their thumb out of their ass long enough to take them off for me.

Doobiedoobin

Well, to each their own. I don’t know about 7-10, never had a boot. But that sounds like a long time to me. Hey man if you’d rather do all that damage to your truck or car, I’m not gonna stop you. Just seems like a lot for a parking ticket🤷‍♂️ don’t listen to me man I don’t know anything

Doobiedoobin

Also, I looked it up for Seattle. The shitty parker would call and pay the fee and then I believe it automatically opens up because the bootee must return the boot to the boot company within two days.

shocontinental

Looks like one of them did come off, too early to know about the other.

COYBIG79

Think that was the mud flap that went flying.

shocontinental

Oh you’re right, too bad mythbusters isn’t still on, I’d like to see the destruction that happens from driving on those.

DependentInitial1231

Should be done for dangerous driving also. Fkn idiot.

EntertainerNo4509

Caked101

Damn. And he needed this for his company? That man looks desperate and humiliated. I don't know what he did to get his truck towed, but he was better off paying to get it back and putting in the work to make up the difference.

schumi33510

Homer Simpson in New York

cjwrapture

He had to rip off his brake shoes/calipers I would think.

redditistupid51

Looks like a construction truck and not necessarily owned by the driver.

fireforge1979

Company truck, he doesn't give a fuck!

-Tuber-

Xtreme construction. Parking in handicap zones. Nice

DarthUmieracz

I just noticed the white car has spikes on wheels. This is legal in US??

Rare_Entertainment

They're probably just plastic made to look like metal. Regardless, the legality depends on the state. If legal, there are often limits on how far they can stick out.

Diskappear

yes, they protect the lug nuts from road debris, ice, snow, etc.

Nenotriple

A small round cap would work just as well, they must be shaped like hard metal spikes to scare people away from getting too close.

Diskappear

the conical shape allows for better wicking away of ice/snow/moisture than a domed cap. usually these spikes are also made of chromed plastic or lightweight aluminum and are not solid metal points

Outside_Wrongdoer340

COWABUNGA!

Trigger187Mob

Repo gone wrong

chowderbags

[Simpsons did it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAjar1GdqJY)

Joaoreturns

Nice to see people caring so little about their main transportation method.

Narragetto

Got the company sticker in frame there too

MrTweakers

Definitely destroyed something lol

Devil2960

Oh some boots did get destroyed, just not the ones they intended.

tejedor28

Why does the twat in the neighbouring truck need massive metal spikes on his rims?

Old_Earth_1687

That mudflap got some serious air time

DevlishAdvocate

The real life hack is to not live in a city, because nobody is out there booting cars in the burbs or rural areas.

zzz_red

He could have easily project a metal part in someone’s direction… fucking dumb

mike1018

Then also gets a charge for theft. Lol

Many-Strength4949

But they made it

gswkillinit

It’s like people running away or fighting police and just jacking up their crime charges lol
