I have a nephew like this. He has a speech impediment that his parents never bothered to get therapy for, so he is almost 40 years old and has been unemployable his whole life because no one can understand him. I ask him to repeat himself 3 times, then give up. It's really sad.

One of my best friends actually mumbles like this, and he's not joking when he does. It's how he actually talks. Half the time I don't know what the fuck he's saying so I just smile, nod and play along. I have no idea how his wife and kids understand him. Idk about this one but the BKs in my town have signage at the drive thru saying that they don't allow photography or video recording.

I brought this very point up to management at a job I once had. It wasn’t right that customers could just record and take pictures of staff for whatever unconsented reason. I was unpopular for it and upper managers would just say there’s nothing they can do cuz it’s public or whatever. Hopefully there’s work being done to protect people from shit like this. This reminds me of years ago when I worked with a guy from the Virgin Islands. We talked often. He sounded just like me (average American accent). Not long after he started working there, another man from the Virgin Islands coincidentally start working there too. I had met them both individually before they met each other. Until one day they met each other, and both of them instantly lost their American accents and were jiving in their Virgin Islands dialect. It was unreal how they were able to turn it on and off. Both of them. I was never able to understand a thing they ever said to each other.
